Rumor: External HDD support coming to Xbox One with next update

Yeah Sony. Fuck you and your already allowing us to upgrade our HDDs on day one. How dare you deny us the pleasure of getting that functionality later on in a software update.

Agreed that Sony should add external USB support for games at some point, but at least internal hdd is already upgradeable and USB can be used for exporting screenshots and the like.

Not sure how many PS4 owners are reading this thread, but just FYI the 2TB 9.5mm Samsung Spinpoint M9T hard drive (available by gutting a seagate 2tb backup plus slim drive bought from Amazon) now works flawlessly as internal in all PS4s as of the 1.70 update. 1766GB free for use after formatting/system init according to the System Storage Management screen. Highly recommended, just be warned that it will take a _very_ long time to redownload all your stuff.

Clearly it would be way complicated for him. I don't understand how convenient is to have usb wires hanging around because for some retarded unknown reason console manufacturer won't allow you to upgrade to ur own storage

I don't get this. They both have their pros and cons. If you swap your PS4's 500GB HDD for a 1TB HDD, then your just effectively gaining 500GB. There is nothing wrong with people wanting this feature to add without losing what you already have.

Swap your PS4 drive with a 1TB, then put the PS4 drive in a caddy and use it on the Xbox one to make that 1TB too. Win-win
