Rumor: Final Fantasy XV Launches September 30

I feel like I have to buy it because I've waited 10 years. If it gets at least decent reviews I think I'll bite. I'm gonna laugh if it causes a Gaf War, which may be inevitable anyway.

Every FF has been divisive in some capacity since 5 at the very least. It'll happen.
To think... in 1 year I'll be arguing with a blind XV fanboy/hater depending on how things turn out...

Big year for Square then. Hitman, Deus Ex, FF15. If they are dropping FF15 this year they must have a big 2017 planned as well.

Final Fantasy Remake part 1 is probably next year. And don't forget Dragon Quest XI, it's an early 2017 locked on.

2017 will be even bigger for SE Japan if FFVIIR part 1, DQXI (huge in Japan), KHIII and Nier (if it gets delayed) all make it out that year.

It will be the biggest year of releases for SE Japan in a long time if not ever (in terms of AAA). Definitely bigger than any year last generation.

I would love it for DQXI to make it over here next year..

It's been awhile since we seen SE flex like this.

Square Enix has a tradition of unloading all the big hits in one year.
They released 358/2 Days, Star Ocean 4, The Last Remnant, Dragon Quest IX and Final Fantasy XIII in 2009, and Birth by Sleep and Dragon Quest VI remake in the following January.

As long as it doesn't ruin the release of Nier 2 and Persona 5, I'm fine with it.

How can FFXV ruin P5's release? I mean, it's all up to Atlus right?

Yeah it seems they do. In terms of global sales potential I think 2017 will top 2009 though with the big four games I mentioned releasing.

Good things that SE bought Eidos back then so they can fill up all those years. I can't imagine whether investors are patient enough for FFXV or KH3

Lol yup. I don't know the last time I've gone from optimistic, to pessimistic, to complete uncertainty so many times for a game. To be fair, so so much has changed, and they seem to be hiding quite a bit still, hopefully anyway, see what I mean!? Uggggg.

I'm definitely hoping for the former, although SE FF record is so hit or miss for me. At this point, it's just a miracle it is being released.

24th is my birthday. that's the best present I could wish for.
aside from Persona 5, but I guess it comes out in europe in next year(s)
/s
if I don't import US version

Yes, but it's a game of dates. Just like how other studios move their games away from AAA release dates, I could see Atlus not wanting to release too close to FFXV in order to give Persona 5 a chance to breathe and sell.

Those investors see the mobile games that we often ignore. Square Enix was doing well in Japan financially even without any major release.

Late September is the best time I can see for a western release. Now that FFXV has presumably taken the spot, I think whenever P5 is released it's going to bump into some big AAAs. So I guess you are right, P5's release will be affected, though I'm still not convinced that P5 will get localized this year. I think eventually, Horizon and Mass Effect are the ones you should worry about because they are all going to be released next spring.

Hopefully P5 doesn't release within a month of FFXV.

I want to be able to experience both games to their fullest.

13 soured me big time on this series, but 14 2.0 (as weird as that sound) brought me back into the series. I'm in, pls be good, plssssssss.

FFXV has had pretty much an entirely separate team from the XIII one. Basically entirely different creatively, and still mostly different technically.

Works for me as long as Persona 5 isn't near it.

I have a feeling that they will release close together.

In Japan though.

There's a lead artist that worked on both XII and XIII, but that's about all when it comes to senior staff. Say what you will about XII/XIII, but artistically speaking they were both very much on point.

Haven't really been following FFXV news too closely. But what's the general consensus on everything they've shown thus far? Seems there's been lots of fluctuating quality in terms of their dev demos that I'm not sure if people are optimistic or wary of FFXV.

One word.

HYPE.

Demo is flawed in many ways, but it shows ambition and potential. The latest battle footage is pure hype. Keep in mind that we haven't seen much about this game, and if the concept arts are anything to go by, there are great things, GOTY worthy of things, yet to be seen. If they can realize half of the things in the concept arts, this game is going to be great (someone please post a higher quality one):

Then I hope Tales of Berseria will release earlier, so it won't collide with FFXV.
But it feels a bit unreal that soon we'll be able to play the whole game, has it really been ten years? It doesn't feel like that, but then again time goes by fast..

No way, ToB is a December or January release in Japan. Namco has been treating Tales of like CoD, by now their development and release cycle has been pretty stable.

I played the Demo they put out (Episode Duscae) last year and I enjoyed it. It was rough with the dodge framerate and questionable combat/gameplay decisions but it was good enough taste of the game and the responded to play feedback and made major adjustments to it.

There's no doubt the info and video they've released for the game has been pretty lackluster. The Gamescom trailer was disappointing and they focused on the Duscae demo for too long (they patched the demo). I also found their progress reports where they would show incomplete animations, models and environments to be more negative than positive (at least for me.) They honestly made the game feel less complete than them just staying silent on it.

Of course I've still been pretty excited for FFXV since I've been waiting almost 10 years to go on Noctis' adventure. The recent Niflheim Trailer had me acsolutely floored. I couldn't be more excited for the game and can't wait to see more.

The wait for a possible September release can't end fast enough.

Yes obviously.

I meant there is currently a lead artist working on XV(15) whose past work includes both XII(12) and XIII(13). And considering how beautiful both of those games were, there is no reason to worry about their influence on XV.

I'm gonna book a week off as soon as it is confirmed. Just can't wait, especially as this one seems to be open world and we haven't had a SP one of them since 9 I believe.

Surprised people are so hyped for this. I haven't bought a Final Fantasy in six years and I used to buy them on day one. After ten years and so many changes the likelihood this will be good is extremely slim.

This is so ambiguous. I don't understand.
People build the hype for this game based on what they've seen and what they've played, not because of that trailer in 2006.

I'm with you that I haven't played a good final fantasy since well 9 though 12 wasn't terrible. But from everything we have seen of this one I think there is reason to be hyped. All depends what you like from final fantasy I suppose, me I like that it seems more open and hopefully there is a good story to it. That is what final fantasy is to me, though I wish I played the demo as would of liked to try the combat. As long as the combat isn't utter shit (paradigm shift) I'll be happy.

I guess it depends on what you want. I watched the Nifelheim base trailer and it looks really boring to me. After passing on so many FF games in the past six years since 13, I've gotten used to not playing or buying the series. Just not feeling it.

I mean yeah... They had one bad game.

It might have been 6 years but this is their first real effort since then.

If this mainline entry is also bad, then we have a pattern.

All those FF games are spinoffs and side story cash ins.

You've just been avoiding the chaff. You haven't passed on a real FF yet.

I love the idea of someone thinking FF has been dead to them for years and thinking they've been avoiding it... Meanwhile In Square Enix time it hasn't even made a single real follow up. xD

The only FF archetype games that have come out since 13 were:

- FFXIII-2
- Lightning Returns
- FFX and X-2 Remastered
- FF Type 0 HD
- FFXIV

I'm not seeing a reason why someone would automatically assume the game is going to be bad outside of you thinking it looks boring.

And none of those are new mainline FF releases.

Arguably FFXIV is, but that's online.

I can understand that everyone likes different things. It's been a long time since I have played any final fantasy game to since that utter crap that was 10 and 13 which almost ruined the series for me. This game just may not be for you though maybe try and see some gameplay videos when it's out it. Though if you have lived without the other games I'm sure you can miss this one to.

XIV is real >:)

XIV is real >:)

Naw, XIV is great... But I think the online games are really mainline games in name only. It's a really awesome MMO spinoff.

Maybe it deserves the mainline numbering... But it's clearly a different thing.

No PC date? Didn't SE hint about a possible PC version of the game?

They won't release the PC version on the same day for sure. I don't even think they have got started with the PC version yet, but it will come out some day (sooner rather than later). Square needs the Steam money for such a costly project.

The same for me. Since 2001, i havent liked one game of the series and FFXV is a bit a make or break with the franchise.
