Rumor: Final Fantasy XV Launches September 30

After the 2011 trailer I was hooked for good and ever since it's been my most anticipated game. It's almost like a natural reflex for me to go on GAF/gaming sites hoping for XVersus threads/news for years now :D

Wowser, in 2011 I believed that this game was going to come out really, really soon! I have been excited ever since, too.

It's coming to a close soon.

im just here waiting for this event.

Oh wow it's been almost 10 years since KH2 was released.
Now that I think about it... I've been waiting for KH3 for as long as I've been waiting for Versus XIII / FFXV o.O

That's actually not a coincidence at all.

After KH2, the KH2 dev team was put in charge of Versus XIII. Development went to hell ad infinitum. It was determined around the time that Versus became XV that the Osaka team in charge of the console quality side games would take over the series, and that's why the waits sync up... T.T

I'm awaiting more the reveal of Toriyama's next game than the reveal of XVI or TWEWY2, just to confirm that he isn't working on any of these projects. Please give him a World of FF type of game and let him be happy with that, do not involve him with major entries for a while, I can't take any more mess.

This pretty much confirms that XVI in in planning stages right?

I'd be shocked if there wasn't something in pre-production already. At least ideas/concepts/key staff. I pray it isn't Toriyama.

Verendus mentioned FF16 as far back as 2013. He correctly predicted that Versus XIII was getting a name change and move to current gen. But then again he also said "It will definitely release in 2014. You can have my account deleted if this information turns out to be inaccurate."

And I'm dying to know what this image from Square Enix's New Years Card is all about:

Definitely year of the monkey, the question is whether Terra and the highlighted 6 mean something VI related is in the pipeline (please oh please)

I'm not at all convinced that that's Terra, but I would love to be proven wrong. Yes, I saw the comparison image, but nothing else looks like VI to me.

I know what you mean, if it is Terra clearly a riff on Amano's design vs something more faithful. But the more I look at it the more I feel it captures something similar to the spirit of VI. Still, probably doesn't pay to over-interpret these holiday one-off images.

huh? i'm just a sucker for good graphics. not that it is the most important thing but it is a pretty big factor for me personally and the graphics for this game look really amazing

Don't take it personal, that's just generally something people say about AAA titles. It's still kind of a weird statement though, as FF titles have traditionally been some of the prettiest games on PS consoles. I guess the idea of "AAA" wasn't around until PS3 tho.

Anyway, this release date makes me wonder when Star Ocean is coming out. I'd think before XV to be honest.

I played the Demo they put out (Episode Duscae) last year and I enjoyed it. It was rough with the dodge framerate and questionable combat/gameplay decisions but it was good enough taste of the game and the responded to play feedback and made major adjustments to it.

There's no doubt the info and video they've released for the game has been pretty lackluster. The Gamescom trailer was disappointing and they focused on the Duscae demo for too long (they patched the demo). I also found their progress reports where they would show incomplete animations, models and environments to be more negative than positive (at least for me.) They honestly made the game feel less complete than them just staying silent on it.

Of course I've still been pretty excited for FFXV since I've been waiting almost 10 years to go on Noctis' adventure. The recent Niflheim Trailer had me acsolutely floored. I couldn't be more excited for the game and can't wait to see more.

The wait for a possible September release can't end fast enough.

That's kinda why I'm a little confused about the excitement. The last reaction I remember people having was that it looked more incomplete than they expected. And while the Nifelheim trailer looks good mechanically, the base is mysteriously dark like it's covering up an empty and unfinished environment.

So I'm a little baffled by the excitement for a September release date when it seems like the general consensus is that it maybe needs more time in dev purgatory.

For me personally I just think the way they handled news and updates for the game was just bad. They didn't handle their Active Time Reports or that Gamescom trailer well so we ended up with limited information/footage of the game in a more complete state. XV has been in full development since 2012 and they are have finished developing the full base game a few months ago and moved on to optimizing and polishing it.

I'm confident it will ship this year in a good state. I found the recent battle trailer to be way beyond the demo I played last year, and can't wait to play it. People who are doubting the game (and with good reason) will probably have something good to sink their teeth into on the 30th with the Uncovered event.

VI Remake being released after or in the middle of the FFVII remake chapters is going to be confusing to people

I highly doubt it,that art is is probably just random art...it means nothing

It probably means something. Might not be a huge title or anything. Remember last year we got Agni and as it stands currently, Agni is just a tech demo.

But I agree, a VI remake right now would just cause consumer confusion.

Nope, sorry to disappoint you :D But he also didn't say that it was a FF. In late 2014 he said his new project would be revealed in 2015, though. Nothing so far.

It could have been that rumored FFX sequel canned after the reception of that god awful Novel and 2.5 story or whatever.

KH2 released Dec 2005. Is 10 years and a few months.

Yeah haha I completely forgot about the initial release in Japan.

Regardless, I and many others have been waiting for KH3 from the moment we completed KH2, for close to / over a decade.

The same goes for FFXV (since the E3 2006 trailer).

Oh yeah could be lol. I love SE's denial though: "No, no, this brand new girl and guy and MASSIVE cliffhanger at the end of the new ending are TOTALLY not a setup to a sequel!"

The fact that those exist is horrifying. I always forget about them until somebody brings them up, and every time it's like remembering the pillow you sleep on is actually stuffed with cockroaches.

Oh. Um, on topic. This date seems quite likely to me. I'm excited to get my hands on it.

Thank God they canceled that project, FFX-2 was already too hard to swallow.

Imagine how the fans who named their daughter Stella felt in 2014 when Luna was announced.

Now I get the hate Luna got, totally legit.

Can we finally get a decent cinematic story trailer now? Their last few trailers have been so LAME and seemed very low budget for a Triple A title.
