I was done after 2. So meh. Gears 3 was great but it still wasn't as fun as 1. And no one asked for Judgement (so soon, at least)

They ruined the MP, Gears 1 had the best MP...if there wasn't any bullet lag it would have been perfect. The one thing Gears nailed was the weapons, the longshot and torque bow are two of the best guns in any game ever.

I'd prefer if it was a new multiplat IP. Gears is definitely not the way to go. It already seems to suffer fatigue like God of War. How ironic that both GoW seem knocked out.

I think Sony knows that getting a fully exclusive game from Epic designed from the ground up to push the PS4 and UE4 to their respective limits would be a huge boon for them. New IP or not, I can see why Epic and Sony would be willing to work together on that.

They made too many Gears games, too quickly. Most people who own 360s are already tired of the franchise. Maybe they think on PS4 they'll be able to have a fresh start, except that many people who owned 360s are going to be migrating to the PS4 this gen to avoid DRM and they won't want to buy yet another Gears on PS4 any more than they did on 360.

Ill agree about the MP.
It was also intense playing and knowing you had only that one chance per round. Even with the mode kept in it just felt less impactful when there was TDM and everything else in the mix as well.

Never got the hype for the series myself. Played Gears 1 and hated it. Remember the teammate AI being annoying as hell. Forgot his name but I was hoping he died going into every major fire-fight.

Getting xbox's 2nd biggest franchise to go multiplat is not something you save for gamescom or TGS. You trot that sucker out at the biggest gaming event in years, put it on on your biggest stage with the most people watching and you let it happen.



Would probably be smart of epic though. I mean they are out some top level people and the company is going through a weird transition. Gears of War collection on PS4 and X1 would grow that fanbase and save them from creating a whole new IP. It would be the lazy way to get around franchise fatigue.

It should be noted that Gears was exclusive to 360 because Epic wanted it to be, not because Microsoft paid them. If Epic saw a reason to make an exclusive for PS4, I'm sure Sony would oblige them.

That doesn't mean I believe this - this specific instance is probably fake - but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened at some point in the future. If Epic thinks Sony is going to win this console war, they have every reason to back them as hard as they can so developers will buy UE4 and not a different middleware engine for their PS4 games.

The fact it's titled Gears of War Redux makes me think that this item is meant to be a remake or port of the original Gears game for PlayStation audiences. As such, it wouldn't need to be multplatform, since Xbox fans already played it.

Still unlikely and probably fake, but I can see the reasoning behind the image looking the way it does at least.
