If versions of a game aren't planned to come out at the same time from the beginning of the development process, it is in a publisher's best interest to not announce it to avoid possibly decreasing sales of the first version that comes out in favor of people waiting for the second.

Case in point: Sega + VF5 = Retarded timing of 360 port announcement.

Nothing but a rumor plain and simple, just as is the case here. 2K games denies it and so does the lead developer. Who knows a little more about the situation 2K games and Levine or EGM? There is nothing different in the MGS4 debacle. Until it's announced by one or the other nothing is confirmed.
 
Not really a rumor is it? Nor is it a confirmation. Its just a statement by the President of Konami(unless they are making the statement up)

"President Tanaka also stated, "As we are aware of the popularity and hardware-driving power of this software franchise, going forwards we are open to taking this franchise across to other platforms."
 
Wow this is sad, Kotaku has even adopted the tactic of trolling fanboys now.

Just notice the mandatory disclaimer "I do not care" though had it been true then Kotaku wouldn't have been so persistent with twisting words into their dream scenario. :lol

I'm sorry that a title like MGS4 has been cought up in this, let's hope the console wars will spark some sales in the end.

Really? Still? It seems like most of these threads are almost exclusively "Not this shit again" with almost zero champagne-drinking, motorboat-riding, open-linen-shirt-wearing grandstanding.

When have they denied it? All I have ever seen is "not working on it at this time." It doesn't even sport the golden MS exclusive stamp on the cover.

that would be the smalles problem but i really thing that Kojima is building this one only with the sixaxis in mind so alot of things would be hart to port. ^^

Irrational Games' sci-fi RPG shooter looks like it may be making its way to the PLAYSTATION 3, according to the all things PlayStation blog ThreeSpeech. In today's update on upcoming PS3 software, author Steve Boxer namechecks BioShock as one of the console's "promised future delights." So... confirmed? I stand behind a firm "maybe."

The game is still listed as only appearing on the Xbox 360 and PC at 2K Games' BioShock page and the title has been called an "Xbox 360 exclusive" in the past, a claim the official Xbox site does not make for the game. We'll keep our digits crossed in hopes that ThreeSpeech knows what they're talking about.

In the meantime, we await response from 2K. Thanks to Neil (aka Barbara) for the pointer! Michael McWhertor

UPDATE: 2K reps just contacted us to let us know "BioShock is exclusive to Xbox360 and PC Games for Windows."

And mgs1 was only on PSX (not counting PC), with some deal to allow SK make a version of MGS1 with super awesoma stylish snake. MGS2 was the only real port to another console.

I'd be careful, dude. White Man said in the Bioshock thread that he might be giving this the MGS4 On 360 banstamp. In that you'd be banned UNTIL it was announced. According to him.

Oh sure, it definitely could be. Like I said before, I do think this game will come to 360, so however they want to do it, I'm sure Microsoft will accommodate them.

Why do you care? Had you been interested in the franchise you would have known that MGS3, MGA and MGS-PO all were exclusive.

Also Kojima take advantage of the system he develop for (not because of console alliances but because he cares for his work), he's against ports but perhaps he's just a small figure in Konami who can be bullied around.

This is what I thought to.
MGS 1 and MGS 2 were. So MGS3 got lost in the console transition, doesn't mean MGS4 won't eventually make the jump. I think this is less of a big deal then say, FF13. But that wouldn't surprise me either, considering dev costs these days

I don't think developers have as much say as what consoles games are released on as much as managment does. I think for the most part it's just easier for a developer to work on and focus on one platform, obviously, but ultimately managment decides how to handle release, and what plats to put it on.

Why do I care? I only ask because this appears to be such a massive deal to so many people. I disagree with you - I think I care more than you do :lol I just wan't to play the damn game, I don't give a shit what platform it comes out for, as long as its good. I think people hungup on platforms care way more about system wars than they do games

The amount of energy people put into hoping a rumour is true you could put that same energy into saving up for the console it's already announced for. It's hardly as if the system has no other games past that.

Hey I only know that Kojima is said to enjoy great respect at Konami and when Konami centralized Kojima's studio went in the opposite direction and got even more freedom (had 'Productions' added to the name).

And to my knowledge Kojima Productions has never had a single game ported plus Kojima is the executive producer of his own games basically meaning he's behind the financing.

I could be wrong but Kojima doesn't seem like some everyday game director who get bossed around by the top.

Rumour: Konami to cut MGS4 in half, half going to PS3 and half going to 360.

Having the game cut in half will fix the 360 DVD storage problems, it all fits! I hope the 360 gets the end half!

none that I really want to play though, at least not yet. I can wait for the PSthree and if MGSIV really for reals is forever and ever exclusive i'll wait for it too

But how would anyone be able to compensate for the loss of motion sensing controls? You've seen the gameplay demonstration, right? The Six-Axis feature is used A LOT. I really don't think that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be ported to the Xbox 360. If it does get ported, I request that I be banned for three-months.

Right after he get it wisdom powers. Anywho I wouldn't want the story* split between platforms. I'd rather it be on PS2 or something everyone has. One of the main reasons PS3 people didnt want it to be in the works for 360 is because they thought it would gimp it like other multiplatform games. They want to see what konami can do with the ps3. Konami were wizards on PS2, they got it to pur and crap.

It's about Kotaku yet again twisting words which apparently is the norm in game journalism.
 
Honestly, these articles are out of control anymore, Kotaku should be back on the ban-list here... Cause all they inspire is a waste of bandwidth... They were right about Home, which unbanned them, now it's time to ban them until this is true... (which could be, others were ported, so what's the difference?)
