This has all the makings of an inspired casting choice.

White up his hair, throw him in the gym full time for a few months and he should look great.

I picture a gruffer, crankier version of his FBI Agent in Wolf of Wall Street.

I think its even more amusing that people are acting like Stephen Lang isnt a talented actor who has shown he can believably do Cable like roles in the past, and that Kyle Chandler is some master thespian in comparison. Its like people only know Lang from his role in Avatar.

For this style of movie, Lang is probably too old and too intense/invested an actor for it. Chandler's shlubby brand of bland as white toast acting will work as a better backboard for Reynolds self ware sarcasm to bounce off of.

Not that I'm disagreeing with the idea the actor doesn't really need to look exactly like character they are playing, but that's a bad example. Him and McAvoy were playing young versions of Magneto and the professor.

I think Ryan Reynolds is probably the closest one, because he seemed to lobby for the role. Bale as Batman is one that I remember fans were clamoring for, back when WB was considering the likes of Ashton Kutcher for the role.
