Rumor: New PS4 Firmware Update Coming Soon

For those having problems with YouTube on the PS4, use the service's dedicated TV interface in the browser (https://www.youtube.com/tv). I use it every day and it seems to work very well for me.

Getting back on topic, I haven't experienced any bugs with 1.7 yet but PSN has had a few wobbles in regards to the friends list not loading correctly sometimes and party chat randomly disconnecting everyone on the first day the firmware came out. It would be nice if Sony could do something about that, but I appreciate that there's a lot of these consoles out there now and they're all downloading the updates at around the same time.

what :D now you're just talking out of your ass. it is supported and most of the video content online is still flash.

Flash is the VHS of online video.
You can still buy a VHS player, there are millions of tapes out there, you can still buy blank tapes, but that doesn't mean it's not obsolete and on the way out.

If you're doing anything in Flash, it better be a cartoon or an in-browser game.

Seriously you bought a 350 pound console but don't spend any money on decent iinternet.

Hmm...where have I heard that name before...billy...billy....sweet billy...

Last night we tried to party up (12) and play COD with mates in a silly game mode...

Crash city for everyone, each time the error report was sent to Sony.

Hopefully they can get rid of the large party bugs SOON...

The firmware team is from Japan. They have gigabit Internet there. Why would you pause downloads?

Why would you want to pause a download? "Oh man, I downloaded this awesome game for 40%. Better pause it for a while, so I can enjoy this moment."

:p

Why do people keep shitting the bed over pausing downloads I don't see what the issue is.

This is why.

You can't pause a download, you can only 'delete' it from the download list. It's pathetic there still isn't a pause download option.

I don't see how this is a big deal as friends would be nice? Can you just click on another download and start that one and stop the other? I thought I did this when I had a long que? Or are you just trying to pause all downloads? I've seen you post about this a few times and was curious?

You can delete a download, but that's pretty much it. Yhe current set up is a massive bandwidth hog, especially if you haven't been on for a few days and most of the games on your hard-drive have to download patches that range from 300mb to nearly 1gb.

It's only going to get worse too as more and more games are released. They need to patch in a pause download option, there's no way around it and it's sad to see some not understanding why it's an issue.

This afternoon i encountered something that hasn't happened on my Ps4,
Everything was running in Slomo, Games, Dashboard.
I first noticed it on Trials today, then Daylight.
Turned my system off a couple of times, and still did it, but it eventually came good.

It seems to be ok for now. And, i don't know if it's related and/or my ps4 might be having a hiccup...*gulp
Please no...*runs n hugs Ps4*

I had a similar problem after updating. Forget which game it was, but whenever I brought up the Dynamic Menu it wasn't as snappy as before. I haven't noticed the problem recently, however.

Will we EVER get the chance to change the region of the PSN account at least once ?!

I don't feel like abandoning all my trophies behind and starting on a new account.

I bet they have another firmware update after that one, then another a few months later and so on. I hear both Xbox One and WiiU will have firmware updates in the future as well. TRU FAX.

This is one of those insider predictions that is so vague, and predictable, that it isn't even worth repeating.

A stability patch will follow the 1.7 update. Really? Thanks for that shocking news.

That patch may or may not include the friends notifications. Wow, such a bold claim. If it's included you're a genius, if it's not, you didn't promise anything. Again, "maybe" predictions are worthless, but thanks anyway.

I would be happy with having the downloads run sequentially and the ability to prioritize the order when there are multiple. The parallel downloading is whats killing everything especially when multiple updates are released at the same time

Had the first issue with my PS4 shortly after the update yesterday. Infamous crashed on me when a cutscene/loading screen should have shown up. There was an error message and the system sent me to the OS, game was closed...

Wow, that's incredibly ignorant.

I have a £350 console and a £1200 PC. You know what I don't have? Any decent internet coverage where I live despite being in central London. All 6 service providers in my area offer me a maximum download speed of 5mbps. I couldn't get faster speeds regardless of how much money I threw at them. Broadband is still a total post-code lottery as the house 2 blocks down from me get fibre but I don't. No plans for BT to upgrade the line either, despite promising to do so THREE YEARS AGO.

If the PS4 suddenly starts downloading 3 patches simultaneously, there goes the internet. Or, if it started downloading say a 1.6GB Killzone patch and I decide that I want to install Child of Light which I just bought, it's either delete the 300MB it's already downloaded from Kilzone and start all over again once I've downloaded my new game or wait a few more hours. It's ridiculous that the feature isn't there.

Look I'm sorry but maybe your frustrations should be directed to you IP not Sony. They gave you a standby option which downloads updates and patches overnight so it wouldn't cause problem Luke yours try using it.

Again leave your console in standby and you will never have to download a patch again it will be done in the background. Now if you choose to try and download multiple items at once then JTS your own issue.

Plz Sony, add the ability to group games on the "XMB" (or whatever it's called now) so that there isn't just this long-ass row of icons.

Even worse when you leave the console on standby for a few days come back and find it has downloaded loads of shit that you dont even use. That playstation eye app for example.

Me too, I know that feel. Even the fastest fiber here in Italy, for which there's no coverage where I live, is "only" 10Mbps/10Mbps DL/UL. With my DSL I can barely reach 4.6Mbps/800kbps DL/UL (and that's the optimal SpeedTest result, far from being the actual speed). But seriously, even if the whole damn world had Gigabit connections why would having a pause option be so weird?

Pause download, like turning off the DS4 lightbar, is one of those things I can understand not all people want, but I can't understand the vehement insistence from some that nobody needs it. It's a relatively basic Quality of Life feature that it baffles me didn't make it in.

We already get notifications about our friends being in some Party and i don't like it. If such friends notification feature ever comes, i will most likely turn it off. Or i hope that they atleast allow filtering of friends in groups and let us enable notifications for specific group only.

A VIP friends group is badly needed, a la Xbone. Or at the very least, let us set it so that only "real name" friends show notifications.

Turning off DS4 lightbar is not the same thing.

Pausing a download should have been in the initial firmware along with priotizing and only downloading one item at a time.

The complaints about the light coming from the DS4 really fail to grasp why they can't turn it off completely. It is built into the system, you can login with it with face recognition, games like Playroom use it extensively. It cannot be turned off without patching all of that stuff, which is way harder than just turning the dimness as far down as possible while still supporting that stuff.

Just give me 3d bluray support. It's all I ask

Yeah it's annoying they haven't patched it in...

I would really like youtube upload, friend notifications and battery percentage for controller (this one isnt a big deal, but would be nice to have)

I've racked up over 700 hours of PS4 gameplay since November with a strip of electrical tape covering my DS4's light bar the entire time. I've never experienced a single issue.

Let me turn the fucking thing off.

If you just want to vent I'm not sure why you responded to my post. I've explained why they can't do it. You not using that stuff doesn't mean they don't have to patch all of that. Not to mention how they're going to use it in the future with VR, etc.

I've heard from my top secret sources that there's going to be a firmware update after this next one too. And one after that! They will contain big fixes and commonly requested features.

...am I an insider now?

I work for a Tokyo-based firm that starts with S and ends with Y, and I have heard internal discussions that there will be games released for the PlayStation 4 hardware this year. :O

Am I an insider as well now?

For those upset over no pause downloads - there is an unorthodox solution at the moment, I have found.

Disconnect the internet. The download will fail, and you need to manually prompt it to continue once the internet is back on. It should continue where it left off. At least, it has been for me. It's what I've been doing to pause my downloads.

Uhhh.

The revolving door of "insiders" that have spewed out of this forum post CBOAT and the backwater sites leaching off them has been one of the worst things on here the past year.

At least Cboat had genuine inside stuff to say and was right most of the time. Most of the people like Tidux who have followed have just saying stuff that anyone making a intelligent guess could see coming and try get their 15 minutes of internet fame from GAMESANDTITS.com.

Alternative title: Rumour: Sony to fix bugs with future PS4 software update.

I got chills.

This is the first post we both wanted and needed.

Oh god yes we need the pause function. Just yesterday I had ghost patch, shadow fall patch and system update all clamoring when I had friends over. So much for watching netflix when we took a break from shooting stuff.

I actually had a disc pop out of my system a few days ago while the console was off. I had to reset it for it to work again, it kept trying to spit one out even though there was nothing in there. Can't remember if this was before or after the update though, it was around the same time.

I'd be happy with that as well. Just change the current set up, it's really frustrating how much bandwidth is sucks up.

I don't see why I should leave my console in standby because Sony is too lazy or inept to add a pause download option or have downloads for patches run sequentially.

Attempting to pass this off as a user issue is ridiculous. It's a Sony issue, they chose to remove the pause download option and now they can't be bothered to patch it back in.

Even worse when you leave the console on standby for a few days come back and find it has downloaded loads of shit that you dont even use. That playstation eye app for example.

Jesus...
