DiscoJer said:Yeah, but on the flip side, Europeans buy games (at least Sony games) and the dollar is not worth much these days and likely will be much, much lower by the time the NGP comes out.
It would make sense to launch in Europe second, NA last.
I payed 599e for my PS3 and this was like 1,5 years after the launch. It did come with 2 games but still...DennisK4 said:6 0 0 euros is insane
Galvanise_ said:Well that would help explain the cancellations of the UK studios games. They'll be focusing on getting:
Little Deviants
WipEout
Killzone
LittleBigPlanet
and possibly:
Broken
Reality Fighters
Smart As
Out the door instead.

As far as I'm aware Studio Liverpool is gone?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCE_Studio_Liverpool#Studio_LiverpoolOn 29 January 2010 Sony made the following public statement: "It has been decided that production on a number of projects within Studio Liverpool will cease immediately due to project prioritisation. Our North West Studio Group has been and will continue to be a vital cog in the WWS family, with a history of producing genre defining games such as MotorStorm, WipEout, Formula 1 and WRC and this decision will have no impact of the role that the North West Studio Group will play in the future of all PlayStation platforms"
herod said:I would have said the opposite. Sony have already failed to follow up a successful system with a more expensive one once.

Sorry as far as heard last they had closed at some point last year.
umm to be corrected?
gofreak said:They weren't closed. There was a significant headcount reduction, but AFAIK rumours of a total demise were a great exaggeration. They were only hiring again recently. I would hope that things weren't so disorganised in WWS that Liverpool would be allowed to hire again, and have a new project announced, only for weeks later for that to be cancelled.
gofreak said:There's another element to this that I'm not sure has been mentioned - we're just a couple of weeks away from the launch of the 3DS in Europe.
Let's just say Sony would not be at all displeased if rumour-mongering held out the prospect of a NGP release in Europe this year right about now. Anything that gets more people on the fence or in 'hold off' mode.
gofreak said:Haha. It was actually him, as head of SCEE, who made that comment about PS3:

I really doubt if that transposes to the mass market.lifa-cobex said:I would hold off my order for a 3DS. I know a number of people would do the same.

not that a mid November release doesn't sound plausible, but yeah, i won't buy into these things again. between the 3DS launch (which i truly believe was aiming for a november launch until hardware production held them back) and the PS3 launch (which i truly believe was tactical smoke and mirrors to make consumers believe the PS3 was right around the corner) i can't buy into this until we get an officially announced release date.gofreak said:There's another element to this that I'm not sure has been mentioned - we're just a couple of weeks away from the launch of the 3DS in Europe.

It depends on what your definition of 'RPG' is.ItWasMeantToBe19 said:When has this ever happened for a system launch?

I'd be suprised if it's true and Europe doesn't get the usual treatment in launches compared to Japan and the US.
