Rumor: Sony Makes Huge Exclusivity Deal

original article contains scan, so can't link
A surprising scan from this week’s Famitsu seems to have leaked early. In it, Shinji Mikami’s new studio Tango announces their first game – a PlayStation 3 title named KRIEG with the same free-roaming aspect of Fallout, including that similar mix of role-playing game elements.

The game is set on a land devastated by nature. The protagonist is a boy subjected to strange military experiments, however, he cannot recall where he was tested on and is searching for clues to find out.

Originally, Mikami expected to make this title for Wii, but confessed he had to choose PlayStation 3.

The final part of the interview ends with the words of Mikami "This game will be my personal challenge, new information will arrive during the next E3.

Interesting, does this post deserve its own thread?

Not until it's confirmed. To be honest, sounds fishy - an early Famitsu leak about a game that probably won't be out until 2013. Not to mention that less than two weeks ago Mikami said they still hadn't decided what would be their first project.

The scan announcing MHP3 was leaked on early Monday two weeks ago. So it might be true.
Well, the scan itself looks a lot more like an interview than a straight up game announcement also, which makes it a lot more feasible in that nature.

Of course, what makes it fishy is that announcing a game like this is usually pretty unhealthy for finding a publisher, due to the way they like to control information about such things.

Of course, if this is a PS3 exclusive, I'd have to imagine it's being published by Sony, since it doesn't sound like a game that would be unsellable outside of Japan.

Not that I would mind it being a PS3 exclusive, but given the current state of the PC and 360 in Japan, in an informal interview that could also just be synonymous for HD, which throws the ball up in the air for publishers again.

This would be the third game. He's also working on a title with Grasshopper Manufacture/EA Partners.

That said, while this scan looks fairly legitimate, I'm confounded as to why they're announcing this now if they don't intend on releasing it for three years.
It's weird alright.
