Snapdragon 800!

The Togari got a name, to be announced on june 25th?

Let’s start with the bad news. Xperia ZU will pack an 8 MP camera from Sony. A 13 MP camera isn’t included due to shortage of said modules.

Now to the good news. Sony Xperia ZU will pack a 6.44-inch 1080p Triluminos color display. Sony’s new display related technology which has already been spotted on TVs and notebooks is making its way to the company’s debut phablet. Additionally, the Xperia ZU will come with the X-Reality Engine, an upgrade to the Mobile Bravia Engine 2 that most high-end Sony Smartphones come with. X-Reality Engine is a post processing engine that will enhance the color and contrast of your images and videos even better than the Bravia Engine does. Additionally, the Xperia ZU will come with IP58 certification and hence will be water-resistant (1m for up to 30 minutes).Lastly, we got confirmed word that Togari will indeed come with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 800 SoC. The CPU will be clocked at a cool 2.3 GHz, the maximum clock speed as per Qualcomm’s specifications. Behold, for a beast will arrive in the market soon, perhaps as soon as 25th June itself (see image).

It's called Xperia Z Ultra. Here's the original source:

Sony Mobile will shortly be announcing the Xperia Z Ultra, which up until now has been referred to by its codename ‘Togari’. A trusted source has spilt some key details about the handset, so here’s what we know. Firstly, the Xperia Z Ultra will come with a 6.4-inch 1080p “Triluminos with X-Reality for Mobile” display.

Excitingly, it looks like the Xperia Z Ultra will mark a change of display type for the company’s smartphones and we hope it addresses some of the perceived shortcomings of the Xperia Z display, criticised by some for its poor viewing angles and contrast levels.

The Xperia Z Ultra will also come with a new type of touch screen sensor that will allow input from either a stylus, pencil or pretty much anything. In this respect, we expect that Sony is continuing its relationship with Neonode (a Swedish company). Sony has integrated Neonode’s MultiSensing touch technology in its e-Readers for a number of years now.

Neonode’s MultiSensing technology is based on optical infrared light, the company says that it “senses any object and identifies its size, the pressure, depth, speed and even the proximity to any surface”. We know that the company signed agreements with some manufacturers earlier this year to incorporate this technology into their Android smartphones and tablets. Therefore, the idea that this tech would be heading to the Xperia Z Ultra isn’t as far-fetched as it sounds.

The handset will have plenty of power under the hood, armed with the Snapdragon 800 chipset including a 2.2GHz quad-core processor and Adreno 330 graphics. We haven’t seen any devices launch with this chipset, so it does make us question, when exactly the Xperia Z Ultra will end up hitting retail.

Camera duties will be taken care of by a 8MP Exmor RS camera sensor and a 2.2MP front-facing camera. Much like the Xperia Z, the Xperia Z Ultra will be water resistant with an IP55/IP58 rating (note this is similar to the Xperia ZR and offers greater water resistance than the Xperia Z which has an IP55/IP57 rating).

The Xperia Z Ultra will launch with Android 4.2. It will come with a super-slim profile much like the Xperia Z and Xperia Tablet Z and have dimensions of 179.2 x 92 x 6.5mm. The Xperia Z Ultra will weigh 212g.

The Xperia Z Ultra is looking like a premium device in every sense. We can’t wait to hear more details.
