Rumor: Suikoden VI for Wii

True or not, at least Wii is a good escape plan for Konami to make another low-budget Suikoden (I guess PS2 would work as well). It would be better than nothing though, unless it turned into a Suikoden IV disaster. Then nothing would be better.

I can't believe this thread..

So people don't want it because on Wii it would be crap?

Konami are the ones making MGS4 you know? Some of you guys just admitted that it would be a crap game on the Wii because of Konami...

excellent reasoning. you sure showed them.

the suikoden series is the second best series of video games, right behind zelda.

i want suikoden 6 for ps3 or wii. if it comes out for 360 i will sell my ps3 and buy a 360.

Fact 1: Dewey and Elebits are Wii games by Konami

Fact 2: Dewey/Elebits creator is working on new, probably Wii, game

Fact 3: Suikoden is an RPG Konami franchise with a Japanese-ish name

Fact 4: Yasumi Matsuno and Dewey/Elebits creator are both Japanese

Conclusion: Yasumi Matsuno is working together with Dewey/Elebits creator on Suikoden VI for the Wii.
Then we all should pray for the main character of Suikoden VI to use his legs instead of his ass to move around.

This make no sense. Did you mean ps3 or really meant ps2? Because if it is the latter, thats really strange.

PS2. I don't really care about HD that much for this game. Suikoden was never a graphical showpiece, but I don't want to play Suikoden on a wii-mote. It's just a harsh reality that while Nintendo has opened up a new realm of gaming, not all traditional games are going to work well with their controller.

I'd buy Suikoden for the PS2, PS3, 360 or gamecube, but not the Wii. Just like I wouldn't be interested in Trauma Center on my PS3 or 360, I have no interest in Suikoden on my Wii.

I'm not going to repeat the mantra that the Wii is ruining traditional gaming, because it just plain isn't true. There will always be a market for traditional gaming. But I feel like the Wii needs to make its own new franchises that are built for the concept of motion control, not grab up popular "old world" franchises like Suikoden and Monster Hunter, and essentially take their names while making something completely different. All that does is leverage the popularity of the old games to promote the new ones, while effectively killing the actual franchise as it was before.

I welcome this news, if only because it means another shot at Suikoden.

I loved the first couple and really got into 3.
Though due to the lukewarm reception of 4 I skipped it, and I fells like 5 came out like 6 months later and I missed that too...

I bought Tactics for $9.99 at TRU and i still have it unopened so far.
Hopefully VI comes out in a nice RPG drought so I can dive back into the series.

I love Suikoden. I would be happy whichever system the game lands on. Just give me my Suiki! :D

Admittedly though, if this is true, I will miss the PlayStation as its platform. It was its home...

But I go wherever Suiki goes.

Because it's a better game than FFVII and everyone always screams about remaking that one :)
FF7 already is a 3D game, the models are so horribly outdated a proper remake is perfectly justified. As far as 2D sprite based rpg goes suikoden 2 still looks and plays excellent. I'm sorry but if anything, suikoden 3,4 and 5 need to be remade back into 2D :lol

Suikoden 5 rocked. Truly a return to form and the story didn't bore me to tears. I didn't think such a thing would be possible after Suikoden IV.

Also, Suikoden II is perfect the way it is!

Unless you're discussing a game whose design requires the heavy use of 6 or more buttons... how is the Wii control setup any different than a very comfortable split gamepad?

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn is an excellent game available on the Wii.

a 3d remake of s2 is a staggeringly bad idea. the original will be released for download eventually - wait for that if you haven't played it, want to, and don't fancy paying for the original.

suikoden has always had simple controls, lots of mini games, and no notable technical achievements - it's a perfect fit for wii if there's actually an audience there. there's one person at my place who will be rather pleased if this turns out true. i'd guess no waggle for the main rpg bits (excepting possibly pointer for equipping and such) and a bunch of waggly mini-games (fishing, racing, etc...)

Suikoden V is not bad but sometimes i feel like i am forcing myself to play it. My progress goes very slow too (playing with a buddy)

I hope Suikoden 6 could be some out of nowhere jewel.

how far along are you? SV bored me to hell for the first 4 or 5 hours but it really picks up, IMO. it has become my second favorite in the series after II

but what do I know, I'm the guy that started the Suikoden IV love thread.

hehe ;)
I'm like 15-20 hours in. The floating boat village is my new home and i'm about to blow up the dam so the village down there can receive water (finally)

I loved Suikoden V, so I'm praying heavily for Suikoden VI for Wii. :)

And I will never say anything bad about Suikoden IV as it was my first of the series, and I enjoyed it (ENOUGH) to give a serious chance to the rest of the series.

Personally, I really didn't like S3 except for Thomas's chapters, I just didn't really like any of the characters out of the other groups.

It's a rumour, a groundless baseless rumour, which we should just call wishful thinking at this moment.
There's not a single article that supports this nor even a single gaming "journalist" stating that this franchise is going to developed again.

With the way the thread has been going, I really think at this point we've been 2-chan'd. :lol

Well considering what the producer, Noritada Matsukawa stated does not look like there will be any new suikodens in the near future unfortunately.

Having said that if there were Wii probably is more likely unless they go portal with it, but either way here's hoping there will come a suikoden VI someday, would be such a shame if it ended with suikoden V, such a shame to end it when it started back on track....

When did he make that statement? The only reason I had the impression that Suikoden VI was confirmed was this old thread from Dec. 2006:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=134267

Konami's Suikoden producer Takahiro Sakiyama mentioned that the development of Suikoden VI has already began, the game may have references to a previous Suikoden game.

Who's the producer, Sakiyama or Matsukawa? (don't know much about the team behind the games).

Matsukawa helped to direct Suikoden III and IV. Sakiyama was the guy who directed Suikoden V whereas Matsukawa just helped to produce it.

I didn't hate it per se. There are just many elements of it (cast above all) which annoy me to no end.

But I did enjoy enough (though not much) my first time through, and to its credit I've beaten it 2x since then. Mostly just for the gameplay though since the combat is well paced and the game is relatively short.

To its credit and in the mindset of being fair, Snowe did help keep some intrigue in the story. Not particularly good intrigue, but in the very least I was still always curious to see how he'd end up.

My favorite part of the story was the sparse cutscenes of the Kooluk antagonists. Specifically Graham Cray. I found him oddly interesting and ominous, and because I wanted to see him developed (or focused on) much more, the few 'behind the [enemy's] scenes' that were in the game were quite enjoyable.

Elenor was rather interesting as well. I never particularly like her strategy or morale scenes, but the more social scenes (e.g. recruitment) were great.

It's too bad those things were massively overwhelmed by story events or characters that drove me batshit insane for 95% of the game.

p.s. I just received Suikoden Tactics in the mail this afternoon. I've beat every other game in the series at least 3 times, but I just never bothered to play this gaiden. Saw it cheap online though so I grabbed it.

I really wish you could have played all the way through the game in the outfit he's wearing in the third poster. So damn nice

i'd support this, barring any financial problems i may or may not have. it's totally baseless, but still likely and would be nice to have as well.

Give me more suikoden!

I would prefer it to be on my beloved PS3, but since Suikoden will probably never have the budget for that, I will enjoy it on my Wii.

Actually I believe Jump had the very first scans of Suikoden V :D
At least those are the earliest scans I have and that I know of :lol

So Suikoden VI debuting in Jump again would make sense :).

Edit: Oh Himu, you should pick up the Collection of Gensou Suikoden Book :D It contains art and info on every single Suikoden game (S1-S5, SG1-2, Suiko Card Stories, Suikoden Rhapsodia/Tactics, etc). It also has every single Suikoden character in it.

PM me to see some scans :D

Wtf???

Hopefully this rumor is false... I want it on PS3.
To hell with a larger audience, stick with the fans & history, Konami!!!

Hahahah how the tables have turned. If that's your logic what about FF, castlvania, dragon quest and other stuff that did start out on nintendo or became primarily nitnendo games before the dawn of the PSX?

do you guys thinkg Suikoden for Wii would fit that mysterious game Matt talked about at Wii-K In review?

No. Matts game he was talking about was a revival.

So can someone link to the reason for this thread? I hate 'hope for' threads without clear direction, especially for a game in a series I love.

Suikoden games have never been graphical showpieces. They've been home to great stories/characters, wonderful pacing/gameplay, and the music for the most part, has rocked (IV is ignored). Graphics have always been serviceable and detailed, never reaching too far, but the dev teams have always done enough to impress with small details and character designs. Most of all, the games are very cohesive visually, specifically the world that is created around the characters meshes incredibly well with all graphical details and enhances the story and immersion of the game.

I loved the look of V so having it on Wii wouldn't matter a bit.
