Rumor: Uncharted 5 in the works

I can understand all those people who criticize Naughty Dog for being "woke."

But Uncharted 4 is at a level of gameplay and detail that few games can match.

I'm often surprised by how games like this get criticized, when even the competition hasn't been able to do anything similar... let alone third-party publishers.

That video is not really selling it. Guys just shotgunning dudes, really.

Uncharted 4 was a big step down from the previous games. It has it's moments, but most of it is just mediocre. The worst part were the characters and story.
Lost legacy improved things, but still far from the glory days of Uncharted 2 and 3.

Agreed, only thing UC4 had going for it in my opinion for the visuals and technology.

Story wise it took itself too seriously for what was a goofy and fun Tomb Raider game mixed with Mission Impossible style story and cinematics. Well at least that's what it was for 3 games.

The gameplay in that game was abysmal. Sure, the sprinkled shooting parts were fun, but the endless simplistic climbing sequences nearly ruined it for me. The game could have been named "Press Forward".

ND really trying to make the most disliked main characters right? And ruin their existing ones. I know this is old now but I ain't interested in playing as Cassie and Sam ffs

You play as Nathan's daughter, trying to avenge the death of her father after he was brutally murdered by a millionaire transgender golf player

I actually liked Lost Legacy over 4. Some of the open world elements didn't add anything but trying to find a little door in a big map. Focused experiences are still ok.

If Amy and Bruce are so good why don't they direct new games?
Right, why couldn't they do on their own what Druckmann accomplished (and failed to) at the helm of what was considered the best development team on the planet.. which he basically destroyed in the process.

Part II couldn't be a more perfect example of the massive writing and narrative drop from previous titles.

And not really sure what the fuck happened to Druckmann himself either; Left Behind (directed by him, not co-directed with Straley) and Part II share most of the same themes and yet they are light years apart.
Left Behind feels organic, honest, real, earned, perfectly constructed, legitimately emotional in a totally non forced way. The contrast with Part II, back to back, is fucking staggering.. literally feels amateur hour. Embarrassing.

I agree with the essence of your message, as Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy are my favorite controlling third person games in existence to this day, but that video does the games a big disservice.

Playing as the daughter then Nate comes to the rescue in a Sully like role. Sully is like The End out of MGS3.

Am I misremembering something, but sometime in late 2019 or 2020 I remember seeing a Jason Schrier report that they had a new Uncharted game in the works.

Uncharted 4 is still my favorite of the series. I was able to get it on my PC too.

UC4 is art is disguised as a videogame an absolute masterpiece, UC5 designed for ps5/6 is gonna be like nothing we've ever seen
I think UC4 is the best of the series. World hopping adventure. Story, Dialog, Action, Puzzles, Good stuff.

Everyone keeps saying Uncharted 3, but for me that is my least favourite of the series.

Based on some of the comments here, it sounds like some people want Sony to just stop making games altogether. When they make a live service, it's hell no we want single player games. When they make single player games, it's hell no the game is going to be woke.

Hopefully this is true, Uncharted has been my favorite ND IP since the PS3. I don't know how to feel about Sam being her Sully though. I didn't really connect with him in UC4 whatsoever. Chloe or Nadine would be better if Nate's gonna sit this one out.

I remember playing a thief end epilogue and looking at the wall of magazine covers that it would be great to have the series turn away from gun action completely and become puzzle and exploration only.

Just go to beautiful locations and explore while solving riddles and puzzles.

Since they went "legit" treasure hunting after Libertalia, it would make sense on a story telling level also.

They would have to hire good puzzle makers tho.

Anyway, im expecting to see what they do with 5th, as long as they keep Nathan of course.

As an aside i also have a "continuation" idea for Hokuto no Ken, so If Buronson reads this call me we can make the story of Kenshiro son set during the 10 or so years between the end of the first series and the beginning of the shura saga.

This time around you play as dual protagonists, Nathan Drake's Gen Z daughter Cassie Drake, and Nadine Ross, while trying not to be distracted by Neil Druckmann getting friend-zoned by Anita Sarkeesian in the room with you, Uncharted 5: An Expression of Mediocrity.

Except that entire game has maybe 45 minutes of action. It's by and large jumping, climbing, cutscenes, buddy - cop chatter and weak puzzles. It's boring and was a sign that Neil Druckman was up on own ass.

BluePoint already did this years ago. There's no point in doing it all over again just to add some pores to the character skins.
Who gives a shit about visuals brother, what the original trilogy needs is Uncharted 4/Lost Legacy controls and mechanics.

Also, I'd take the chance to relive those incredible adventures (which are nothing short of lightning in a bottle) with iconic and charming leads, maybe with expanded sections, over whatever any modern studio could possibly achieve with this polarized gaming fanbase and irreconcilable desires for what an Uncharted game should be.
Uncharted finally comes back ten years later, with Cassie and Chloe?

Bring that Drake's Fortune remake on.

P.S. And don't you fucking dare touch Edmonson score, Nolan North voice, or jet ski sections.

I would've thought Nate has a boy in the story and they'd start eventually making the story be about Nate jr when he's older.

TBH if they redid the JetSKI sections by expanding on them with better gameplay I'd be all over it. They knocked driving out the park with Uncharted 4/LL and even moreso with the horses in TLOU2 - mobility is actually a feature now I'd welcome.

I had a bitter sweet time with UC4. There were moments I enjoyed but by and large the replayability aspect is greatly impacted by the "Last of Usification" of Uncharted franchise in UC4. Don't get me wrong, I admire Neil and Bruce and their work on TLOU IP. But Uncharted wasn't meant to be TLOU when it came to minute to minute gameplay. UC kept upping the ante on balls to wall action with memorable set piece sequences. UC3 to me was the highlight game in the series when it came to high octane moments. UC4 felt a major step down in this regard with gunplay battles very few and far between. I'd really like for Naughty Dog to nail action and keep the gamer engaged with action story telling than Last of Usify the gameplay/story telling in an Uncharted game.

Remember when UC4 was about Sam revenge ?

Also Amy leaving ND was the worse think that happened to the company.

I remember I didn't actually get around to the sequels until spring of 2014, I marathoned both and then this teaser dropped right after, it was incredibly exciting.

That said, I still love the 4 we got, but I am curious what it was like pre pivot.

The animations are messed up though because they just zapped it into 60fps from 30, Drake runs like he's got a dookie in his pants.

Making all the games the same graphical level as 4 would be pretty neato.

It would be neato. Are there any comparison vids out there of the original games vs the BP remasters? I don't remember animations being messed up or dookie Drakey pants.

Talk about milking a dead pig with your shoes off while the moon rises in the last day of the only month you didn't call in sick!!

It's just something that happens when a game was animated for 30 and bumped up to 60 than the usual animated at 60 and scaled down to 30 for consoles.

Most people might not even notice, but games just look a bit sped up, I've noticed this with the recent re-release of RDR1 for example.

On the flipside to that, I swear the cutscenes in SH2 remake are 30 while the game is 60 on PC, which felt a bit jarring at times.
