(Rumour) Hints that GTA V story DLC is indeed coming?

Was probably there in the early stages of GTAV
AFAIK they'd rather focus on new content for multiplayer.

Franklins VA once said he was working on something and people presumed it would be about him Lamar and someone else but the thing is maybe that dlc did exist, and rockstar was working on it but things happened and now we are here

This would actually get me to double-dip on GTA V. Don't think I could be bothered to get my PS3 out of the closet to play the last gen version, but I'm definitely not going to buy the current gen one if it's just for the same game I've played only 2 years ago.

Still, count me as sceptical.

If they just brought the Online additions to single player mode, I'd be ecstatic. Let me customize low riders, buy yachts, buy a hundred different homes across the map, and some more damn heists.

Most of the GTA leakers are clickbait morons and full of shit. However I do recall that Franklin's VA mentioned that he was recording lines for single player DLC so maybe it was put on hold and not cancelled after all

yup, them tweets/instagrams from a little over a year ago. There was also that treehouse lounge or whatever it's called interview with Big Solo - he said stay ready because him and Slink were working with R*. That was back in Jan.

This isn't happening unfortunately. As stated by others they most likely prepared for a DLC but instead shifted into free patches for the MP. Other devs must work on other R* games (and they need to deliver soon)

I really hope this is true and the DLC will consist of many new heist missions, or at least one reaaaaly long one.
Heists should be the new standard in any GTA game from now on because it certainly drew me back into the series after quitting after Vice City.

Doesn't this indicate that Rockstar had single player DLC intentions but doesn't actually confirm that anything is being developed for it?

Has all the GTAV DLC been free so far? It's just extra online money that you can pay for, right?

Could just be back end prep work in case online bombed and they needed to bump revenue with single player DLC. Instead online worked out great for them, and so they have no need.

I hope that is not the case though. I don't care for online GTA with its broken lobby system.

Has that casino in GTA V been opened yet? I remember there was one near the horse racing track, if I'm remembering the game right. I'd absolutely love an Ocean's 11 type casino heist as the DLC, with an elaborate setup, tense heist, and a last-minute twist that ended up being the plan all along. Good god that would be brilliant.

Yeah don't forget the Liberty City COMING SOON!

Until it's on the R* site I refuse to believe anything.

Hints that GTAV story DLC could have indeed been planned, but zero indication that it hasn't been dropped dead in favor of GTAO.

So theyre straight up pulling a valve and abandoining single player content for this game? That sucks, i hatenit when companies only focus on multiplayer.

This could be just old left over assets, we had some hints that they were planning something but nothing ever happened and they recently said that nothing is coming so yeah. It's been over two years already, too late even for gtav.

So to do this, you must download some files from Rockstar servers? Yeah this isn't happening. If this DLC system was part of a recent patch, I would believe in single player content DLC, but not like this.

GTA V is the top-selling game on Steam right now, I don't think it's too late. People still want GTA.

I still don't think it's going to happen, but if it were to, I think the demand would be there.

Yeah this was probably just something left there from when they were planning on single player DLC. They unfortunately seem only interested in churning out mp so people will keep paying for those shark cards or whatever.

Would be great, but who knows how old this is and if it's even legit. And would they really call it "Story Mode DLC" ?

Does R* even refer to the vanilla game as "Story Mode" ? I thought they called it "GTA V" Like, when you're in GTA O I believe the message is "Do you want to go back to GTA V? This will kick you out of your current game." I don't think I've heard them say "Do you want to go back to GTA Story Mode?"

In either event, still very pessimistic about any legitimate single player add-on content. And all of the GTA articles online are clickbait trash too, so that's not re-assuring.

With how much they've ditched the story, I wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar pulled a Square Enix and dubs the next game as "Grand Theft Auto VI Online".

It's probably remnants of what they were planning before they made bank off of GTA Online.

Why would they add single player DLC when they can profit off of micro-transactions in GTA Online?

I know someone who works at R* and they said there are no plans for singleplayer DLC. Last month.

They were drunk and broke NDA.

It's not happening and never is.
Did he break NDA with something else? ;)

Ahh such a sweet thing to do, giving a little hope for gtav offline players for Christmas.

I DON'T BELIEVE YOU.

I want to, but I don't. I honestly don't think Rockstar would have gone and say they had no intention for now in doing single player DLC story if so.

Don't believe it, unfortunately. :(

Not the least bit surprising. R* have always preferred quality over quantity -- that's one of the key reasons why GTAV isn't and won't become an annualized franchise, and it's also a key reason as to why GTAV is going to get SP DLC despite the online microtransactions being more than sufficiently profitable.

I'd say it's most likely leftovers from a plan B, R* is too busy making it rain with cash cards

I seem to recall Story Mode is mentioned in a number of places: the last I recall is in the splash screen when selecting either single player or multi player.

I love GTAV, but I'd much rather they were full speed ahead on their next full game than spending resources to go back to the V SP well; game's getting a bit long in the tooth, even on current platforms. Not that they're wanting for resources, of course.

EDIT:
Man, if Red Dead 3/GTAVI are fully online games...fuck, I guess I'd finally have some idea how Interplay Fallout fans felt about the BethSoft games.

I wish they'd do something like The Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony.

Those were incredibly well done and really flashed out the GTA IV world.

I think there will still be single player, but I hope it's not just an afterthought they tack on. There was that rumor that the next red dead would have a large multiplayer focus which would be immensely disappointing.

I've yet to finish og story first. It's so freakin long travel in this game, I feel like a taxi working overtime.
