Rumour: Nintendo aiming for Zelda BotW release on June 16 (EUR), Switch release first

We'll never know if it is a smart business decision. Some of the very, very few (as many here have pointed out!) Wii U owners may buy a Switch earlier because of the title, many hardcore Nintendo fans will have already bought it for Mario anyway, and many people like me will never buy a new Nintendo product because of this decision.

I have no problem with the week difference, I have a problem with the principle. It could be a day and it would still be unacceptable.

Unacceptable. OK. Disrepect for the consumer for the hardcore fans. I get It.

Sigh.
And meanwhile GAF was cheering when Last guardian was re-revealed for PS4.

Well for one theres Chobel. Who instead of getting up in arms about it called it XBone's "system seller" aka

THANK YOU for the research.

THAT is plain is simple hypocrisy and stupidity.

edit : and sorry for the DP

We will, just like we know that it was smart for Twilight Princess.

I don't think that's necessarily the case, the Wii was massively undershipped for months due to the hype, and the number of casual consumers who bought it solely to have a neat-o bowling simulator. Zelda was practically a moot point given those circumstances. Knowledge is a strong word choice.

Lmaoooo

so you dont even play it but complainin about a week delay lol

That's not what I said, please learn to read better.

yes, last I heard Mario was coming at launch, is that not the case any more? No doubt that will move Switches for most hardcore Nintendo fans.

I think getting hyped fans to get it just to play it one week early is not the main reason behind this decission. That would only affect a minimum number of sales of hardcore fans. The reason is to give space to the Switch version to gain attention and to avoid misunderstadings of people mixing Switch and WiiU (after all, I think there´s still many people who don´t know what a WiiU is). I think one week may not even be enough time, but at least at the game´s launch Zelda Switch won´t have to share any spotlight.

I see it as a way of putting more distance between WiiU and Switch and, a much as I love my WiiU, I can´t blame them for that.

OK, you're just trolling at this point if you don't see the interest of having a "casual" bait (wii sports) along a "hardcore" bait (still unreleased Zelda). I hate these words but you get the idea. At least I hope so.

Nice statistics there. You have no idea. None.

Zelda fans and Mario fans are not the same set of people. Even remakes like Majora's Mask on 3ds and WW HD on Wii U moved new systems. Not everybody buys a system for the same game.

And the other side has no statistics to base their assertions on either, I was just offering an alternate perspective. I have to say though I disagree that there is a significant subset of Nintendo fans who love Zelda but ignore Mario franchise entirely.

If a delay to a game you want to play is not directly related to the game itself, like fixing bugs, polishing etc. I'm not gonna say you don't have a right to be upset. Simple as that.

The question is how many people are even out there who have a wiiu but also don't give a dman about nintendo and their trying to position the switch and it's games to be as successful as possible in the first year.
In general, responding to "I'm angry about this" with "but it's a smart business decision" is weak, unless you're responding to some known concern troll

it's a ONE WEEK delay...

That's the funniest part of the whole ordeal, they think one week will be a significant Switch mover. Not for this consumer, who will never buy another Nintendo product again!

Lmao, I hope you're really thinking this, that would add so much to the funny side of this thread.

Zelda sold brilliantly at launch and in the months after.

It wouldn't have on GameCube alone.

Oh shit you got me! I was absolutely defending EA there. /s
You weren't frothing and proclaiming how indefensible it was either.

It's not thinking, it's the plan if Nintendo needlessly staggers the US release dates for the Wii U and Switch versions.

Again, this is not the issue, at all.

Given your posting history, I don't even know why did you buy a Wii U, if you really bought one.

some of us wait for price drops or better bundles before buying things

just because we aren't buying the switch in its first couple months doesn't mean we're never buying it

If the gaming world would work as Madame M thinks it does a console will never sell continuously well for 3-4-5 years.

, and many people like me will never buy a new Nintendo product because of this decision.

s.

Do you get this wound up over everything? Like when you only found 79 tea bags in a 80 tea bag package?

Seriously it is a week. The game is coming out on the system, it will be a polished experience. This is not Nintendo giving you the middle finger. Your over reaction is pretty pathetic.

Again, I have no problem waiting a week as I've indicated by my decision to buy used in the future, usually you have to wait about a week or so to buy it off another consumer. I don't understand how changing how I consume video games is necessarily an over reaction.

And I know it's hard to see, but the middle finger Nintendo is giving us is currently jammed right up the consumer's butthole.

It's unlikely he has one.

Just a troll sadly.

Tell me why you think I don't have a Wii U, I'm still listening

Tell me more about my past posts and how they indicate that I may not have a Wii U, I'm all ears! The attention to my posting history is flattering though I must say.

No, really. Why did you buy a Wii U? For Zelda? Why? You don't even like the 3d Zeldas and even for the 2d Zelda you have a mixture of opinions. You thought Ocarina of Time was crap. So why buy a Wii U for Zelda? I don't understand this.

Jeez. And Titanfall is an EA-published game, the company that finds many ways to irritate NeoGAF.

Maybe because no one was defending it at that thread? While here, just mentioning it's shitty thing to do to Wii U owners and you got everyone riled up at you: "It's just one week", "It's not canceled like TLG"... and many other lame ass excuses. All is missing is "Kids are starving in Africa" excuse.

It's like Wii U owners should be grateful a Wii U game is, you know, coming to Wii U.

Ive had the game on preorder (Wii U) for a while and I guess I have to wait longer. Not happy about that though.

As long as they dont cancel the Wii U version it is what it is...

I will still give BotW a chance, it could be good like Wind Waker. I'm worried the open world might be boring like OoT but I'm optimistic, at least it's prettier than OoT.

I bought it for BotW, Super Mario 3D World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Bayonetta 1/2, Pikmin 3, Donkey Punch Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, Wonderful 101, Captain Toad, Mario Kart 8, etc etc. I bought every single one of them new.

So you didn't buy a Wii U for Zelda, actually.

Sheesh, the system isn't even out yet and the haters are out in full force already. Imagine the Switch being a successful system. The next couple of years will be back to the same old shitposting.

Who is complaining about the Switch itself?

I bought a Wii U for Zelda and more. I made my Wii U purchase after Zelda was announced for Wii U. Actually.

Zelda was announced in January 2013. There was not even a screen of it. You had no idea how it will be. You didn't like TP and SS.

You bought Wii U for a number of games that you played and enjoyed (I assume). And yet you are now saying that you won't buy a Nintendo device again because 1 of those games (that you're not even sure you'll like) is delayed by a week?

It's like Wii U owners should be grateful a Wii U game is, you know, coming to Wii U.

Considering all the releases currently happening in both traditional and indie videogameindustry, one should not automatically assume that a game is even being released on the platform it is originally promised for. As a Wii U owner, I sure know.

Of course I'm not sure if I will like BotW, just like everyone else who hasn't played it yet.

I think it is disingenuous to say it is "delayed" a week, that seems to imply that it needs another week of development compared to the Switch version. They are simply calculated to release apart from each other in some nebulous business gambit.

And I've tried to make it clear that I will still buy the products, just second hand from another end consumer to ensure Nintendo doesn't get the money. You know, a smart business decision on my part.

Sorry but the difference between your posts in the two threads was embarrassing.

You should probably just go and play Titanfall tbh.

There's more than just "promised" here though, the game was perfectly playable this year on Wii U.

Nobody says that the delay is due to anything else than a cynic business decision. It's still just a week, no more. But whatever, be upset. It's your right.

Son, you already said enough this thread lol

And you will buy the games also second hand?

I'm confused by the also but yes, all the products second hand, that way the money doesn't go to Nintendo

Madame M, if BotW Wii U does release the same day as Switch, how will you then feel?

Good question I would probably describe the feeling as "woo new Zelda, and without ridiculous business decision #3848 by Nintendo!"

Son, you already said enough this thread lol

But riling up Nintendo apologists is just too easy, Pops!

Skimming through that thread, no one was condemning EA or MS either, while some here are acting like Nintendo are the devil of the industry for maybe making a similar decision.

So yeah, you'll have to understand why some see it as hypocrisy. While we're at it, try to understand why some think the negative overreaction is silly when Wii U owners are still able to buy and play the game on their Wii U console.
