There is no Christmas in Zelda.

You mean my sweater is not canonical ?

What if the Wii U version is cancelled?

I really think people going crazy over a one week delay are doing so to be dramatic. It's one of the more stranger things I've read this week (and I've been following a lot of political news). The outrage is pretty toothless.

You've been on this site for 8 years. Surely you know by now that melodramatic outrage is par for the course.

I always wonder how some of these threads keep going long after the news seems to be talked out. But based on the last page, I see it's just the inmates running the asylum.

I would love to see it cancelled just for the meltdowns across GAF bwhahah >:)

But obviously that will not happen. It would the biggest middle finger ever. There's people (me) who bought a Wii U on launch day in 2012 with the main thought of playing the next gen Zelda game there, 4 years later and still nada. It got so screwed that the game will be now cross-gen and Wii U became the first Nintendo home console without an exclusive Zelda game.

Jesus christ.. Nintendo making literally the exact same mistakes again and again.

No chance in hell I am buying a switch and supporting Nintendo's bullshit after the Wii U, so this better still be on Wii U.... the main reason I bought a Wii U.

Not buying a switch anywhere near launch as a Wii u owner, but I do understand the delay. After all the confusion of the wii/u, having both versions launch on the same day would just tie the switch to the wii u. This is the only way the wii u can truly hurt the switch, so steering clear of any association with that failure must be first priority. I'll probably just fill the time with a lot of For Honor, so no big deal.

What mistakes are they making again and again btw? I see this as a logical move :shrugs:

Putting a Zelda game out earlier on a system that will sell 3 times what the old one was.

On what basis do you believe the Switch will sell three times the amount Wii U did?

If consumers couldn't find and understand what the Wii U was for four years, why do you think they will suddenly start to notice once the Nintendo Switch is out?

It should get a lot of their portable base and the 3DS sold what, 50-60 million?

"If consumers couldn't find and understand what the Vita was for four years, why do you think they will suddenly start to notice once the PS4 is out?"

God forbid I'm unhappy that a game that I've waited 3 years to play gets delayed because I was stupid enough to only own a Wii U. How dare I put my own happiness ahead of the important business needs of Nintendo. I'm just such a terrible fan, I'd rather play a video game with everyone else rather then make sure that Nintendo makes as much money as possible.

Most people assumed it was an add on and folks would literally buy wii u games for their wii. And the color schemes aren't just inverted for differentiation, they went classic red for the switch. Naming conventions and packaging matter, especially in retail where the sales to parents and grandparents take place.

If the rumors around price are close then that takes care of half the battle in regards to sales.

You're only a "terrible" fan if you'd rather them satiate your instant gratification over insuring they can continue to pump out games for you.

Would not surprise me if the Wii U version was released much later, or even cancelled.

Regardless I'll probably get the Switch version with the Pro Controller unless the port is terrible.

That's your choice but everyone knew Nintendo delayed the game to release it on Switch just like with Twilight Princess because of the fact Nintendo wanted to release the game on a new system to sell because all their previous hits of Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World and Smash Bros did nothing to increase the hardware sales of the Wii U.
They sure as hell moved Wii u units, especially mk8. But not as much compared to its competition

Yes? PS4 sold well and people weren't spooked away from it when Vita games were still on shelves.

Wii U: 14 million
3DS: 59 million

The Switch is more tablet sized than the usual handheld sized, that's quite a physical difference. 3DS can still fit in pockets easily.

Also, Wii: 100 million units
DS: 150 million units

Serious answer tho, if Wii U version was cancelled I believe approximately zero fucks would be given. Imagine the venn diagram

1. You bought a Wii U
2. You still had it plugged in
3. You intended to buy Zelda
4. You won't buy a Switch

Number one alone would be a pretty big gate, but when you take all three I am not sure if anyone is left angry, other than in principle.

This is me in a nutshell since Nintendo hasn't made the Switch a compelling product for me yet. Forcing me to buy Zelda on the Switch will not do that it will just make me skip the thing altogether.
