Rumour: PGR 5 and Grid 2 for 2012? MCV-

Possible studios:
MGS Soho
PlayGround Games
Rare
Turn10

Wasn't Playground Games rumoured to be working on Forza World? I really do think its the same game here...ie Forza World's a codename for PGR5. Maybe that's why New York track was scrapped from Forza (they've probably decided to put tracks based on real-world city locales in the one franchise that's well-known for them)

I think you may be onto something here..

Not necessarily - Microsoft owns the PGR game engine and assets and whatnot, so any developer that takes the project on would have access to all that stuff. Rare could develop a nearly identical game (using Bizarre's code base) if they wanted, but I'm sure they'd like to shake things up a bit and put their own spin on the franchise.

Thus ruining it forever.

No, Nintendo should buy them, they desperately need such a title in their lineup.
I'm being entirely serious when I say this - MSR or PGR are not something that would have been birthed from Nintendo. Stylistically, MSR felt incredible 'SEGA', from gameplay to presentation. Unless Nintendo took an extreme hands-off approach, them buying whatever has replaced Bizarre Creations wouldn't be good.

Turning a stable ("hardcore") franchise into a Kinect-only game - such thing has yet to happen, but it's still getting joked about. I don't get it.

And no, fable does not count as it seems more like a spinoff. :p

Rare is the one that has picked up a bunch of racing guys.

Rare is a kinect first dev team.

Connect the dots.

How can anyone be excited for PGR5 knowing that Bizarre will not work on it?

I'd love for this to be true. The questions is though, which studio would be doing PGR 5?
Turn 10...?

Turn 10's new F4 engine doesn't even work with city environments. That's why they had to strip all of the city tracks from Forza 3 out of Forza 4.

So I doubt it's them, unless they just build from PGR4's engine. :p

To be 100% accurate, they've said something like "...image based lighting had problems in contrast/shaded parts of the cities..." or something like that.

In my personal opinion, problem was related to the actual performance of the overall engine - details wise - because of the 16 cars on track, 60 fps, etc... but that is only my opinion.

More than ever, I believe we'll see the NextBox at E3. PGR has launched every Microsoft console. Hell, it even launched with the ZuneHD.

PGR - Pinata Garden Racer. Race your favourite Pinatas around the Pinata garden and win candy and ribbons to dress up your pinata.

Well to be honest I don't care if they buy Sumo or Slightly Mad Studios or SimBin, they just should get their car porn shit together. I only had Nintendo consoles all my life but the one thing I always missed were racing games in the sense of GT/Forza. With the WiiU neither processing power nor disk space should be a matter to do something in this regard.

Isn't Playground Games' upcoming title based on an open world racer rather than a closed one?
Anyhow, just found out that the "Mk 1 Mini Cooper S 1275cc" will be featured in their game...what that tells us I'm not sure...

PGR5 from Rare at E3 2012? The whole studio just finished KS2!

They could be working on Joy Ride 2 together with Big Park haha

wonder if the long rumored forza world and this rumored pgr5 are the same game?

Would PGR be Microsoft-published now?

If not, I'd love to see that series on Vita. Especially with Ridge Racer going ala carte.

PGR is one of my favorite racing series. It's got just enough of GT/Forza's Car Lust, with a driving model that's actually visceral and fun.

PGR is still Microsoft's franchise.

Sony has GT, Motorstorm, and Wipeout.
Well all of those games (and Modnation Racers) are different racing games, not supercar racers aimed at similar targets.
Sure PGR is more arcade friendly, but with Forza you can make it arcade friendly as well.

I'm not saying PGR won't happen, I'm saying it will undercut Forza's sales if they will be even somewhere near each other.
