Rumour: Warhawk to now support 64 players online

Dylan was on Gamespot Live during E3, didn't mention anything about supporting more than 32. Did mention though that the servers will allow worldwide play and also that the BD version of the game in stores will support game ghosting for LAN parties - one copy of the game on the disc can apparently be used to spawn as many copies needed for a LAN game, up to the 32 players the game supports.

So is the DL or the box version the way to go on this? Any diffs? does the boxed one need the disc in to play? Does it fully install like the dl will?

Thats pretty cool, except for owning that many PS3s. If PS3 ever did PS2 numbers or was big like PS3 gaming that would be amazing though.

Yes. The maps are damn large (like, really really large), and even with 32 players they still felt sparsely populated.

seriously... sometimes it can get downright boring on some maps, and its VERY hard to find opponents, I think 64 would be incredible.

What improvements have they made in terms of online lobby? As much as I enjoyed the beta, I still felt Resistance's online lobby and party system should be the gold standard.

Didnt ask about that aspect of the game but I assumed that was improved as well. Dylan basically said they improved everything they could out of what was was listed in "that huge thread on the beta boards".

By the way, Dylan is seriously addicted to his own game. I visited the SCEA room like 3 times in 3 different days and he was always there playing the game on a huge 60-something inch HDTV at a sub-meter distance from the screen (oddly enough, the sofa was placed very close to that monster Sony HDTV - the biggest in the room). Even if not demoing it to visitors, he was alwasy sitting there, playing with other guys online and having fun with it. He's a great guy. Obviously tho, since he enjoyed Sky Gunner as much as I did.

Edit: ah, he mentioned one thing about further customization of your character. As u rank up, you dont just get new parts/color patterns, but you get the possibility to modify minor details. Like for example you have this shoulders harmour with little protrusions on it. At first you can just change the color of the whole thing. But later you can modifiy the color of just the protusions. Bad news is u cannot make your own emblem. Gotta chose one from the list just like the beta. You cannot even mix them to create something unique. Oh well. Not really complaining about this. :)

The customization sounds cool. Too bad there's no custom emblem, it sucks that gaf can't use the pedobear emblem, that would totally strike fear in the other clans.

If any of those rumors came true, I wouldn't need any other game for another year.

As it stands, I truly don't need to buy a game for the rest of the year after Warhawk. It's that ****ing good.

Indeed. Forgot to mention they also added some nice blur during tight turns as well as a cool camera shaking effect upon hitting the afterburner on the Warhawk. Looks much more spectacular now.

**** yeah bitches!!!! I'm buying day one. Thanks TTP.

TTP, did you ask about the clans? I believe in the beta it only allowed 16 per clan. Is this going to be increased any in the retail ver?

If you dont have a headset the boxed one comes with one. I hope this game gets a lot of headsets into peoples homes.

Well, if you could setup network tunneling for the PS3 with something like Xlink, you wouldn't necessarily need to know people with PS3s upfront.

I was thinking 64 was waaay too much. 40 wouldn't have been a bad number though...

But 64, it'll be hard to coordinate and I could be jumping to conclusions here, but I think the online gaming public isn't ready for 32 player team coordination as of yet. Maybe for Warhawk 2...
