RUMOUR: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 release date - Autumn 2017 (Argos)

Source for that? You guys keep repeating this but you are crazy if you think that Nintendo or any other AAA developer isn't polishing their top titles until the release date and would just let it sit for a year untouched...

Are you serious? Nintendo has done that repeatedly, delaying finished titles for 6-12 months.

It's not that I don't want it to be ready so soon, but 2 years seems really not that much for a game as big as this... Unless they started working on it before they released X. I really want them to take their time and nail it.

One thing that keeps me hopeful is that I've seen them pimping this game in the news section on my Switch. I'd hope they wouldn't do that for a game that's a year or more out.

Monolith Soft are veterans at making these kinds of games, and they don't have to tackle HD development again like they did when developing Xenoblade X.

Yeah it's good they show it in the News section. It gives confidence. Lots of crow will hopefully be eaten.

I think most people forget Nintendo started doing HD games with the Wii U and it seriously slowed them down. Now they have HD under their belts and they've combined departments to become even more efficient.

Nintendo did it right - have the past two releases insanely asynchronous so that in 2017 when you actually deliver on your promise it is a pleasant surprise.

That sounds more bitter than I was intended. I truly do hope it hits this year - squeeeeee!! Do y'all think the region free nature of the Switch architecture is making things a little easier?

Practically done... As in it ships this year for sure and they are in the home stretch. This doesn't mean that they stopped working on the title.

I'm not talking about B titles.... This is their big Holiday Switch title, they will polish the title until the release date. BotW likely was also practically done a year ago... But without the extra months and years it would have been shipped in a worse state. The extra time Nintendo, Blizzard and Co. can invest is what sets them apart from most developers.

Also Odyssey was never "delayed" so that statement is wrong to begin with. This isn't a Tropical Freeze situation. Zelda was essential to the Switch launch and Mario is essential for the Holiday season.

Of course it's coming out this year. The Switch isn't a console with CPU bottleneck issues and old ass architecture for designing games like the Wii U.

Not that I am saying it comes out in 2017, but why are people so doubtful? They showed X way too early. Xenoblade 2 likely began development in 2014.

I worked there for about 3 years, try not to get your hopes up. It might be true, but they fuck up a lot of release dates on games on a daily basis.

This is not a rumour or a leak. It's just a date entered their system based on the information Nintendo gave.

I'd still be really happy if XC2 made it before March. 2018.

Botw, Mario, XB2, Spla2n all in one year. Is this the best year for Nintendo games in history?

2017 just seems to be the best goddamn year of video games ever, across everything.

Release it in the beginning of December or late November. Make it a must own Christmas game for the Switch!

Here's hoping!

Not sure why XCX delays make people think this will be too. We've already seen more of XC2 in less than a year compared to XCX's reveal. I predict October or December, depending on when exactly Odyssey is out (probably the big Black Friday game this year)

I'll believe it when I have an English version in my hands. Fingers crossed and all, but I'm skeptical as hell.

The big Black Friday game will be Call of Duty, as it always is. There are tens of millions more potential customers for it.

Autumn is Sept 21-Dec 20 and Nintendo has repeatedly said 2017, so this wouldn't be a surprise.

Why 2014, when X came out in April 2015?

Are they big enough to have concurrent AAA (for a jrpg) games? Or do you mean preproduction
