I just posted the first person I thought could fit physically... You're right in that no matter who they would cast, it would to be disappointing.

Aoshi and Hiko's desings were always too western, I don't think Japanese people can pull those looks

His clothes look too big for his frame. They look like they could limit his movement too. But it's too early to tell.
The first one wan't good by any means, but it wasn't as horrible as I would have predicted either. There were even a couple decent things. Not terrible, considering the source material. Jine was cool, Kaoru wasn't dumb and annoying (just young and naive) and Kenshing himself wasn't too bad. Some parts of the movie were laughable though.
Anyway, Misao looks pretty good and Okina is spot on. Not so sure about the other two but I want to see how they turn the long Kyoto arc into a movie that doesn't feel too rushed. Also, the interesting thing about Kenshin was that he tried to understand his enemies and enlighten them from the perspective of a man who used to be the most feared assassin but now values life above anything else. Otherwise, he's just a fast guy with a weird sword. I want to see that. And better music.

I think you could swap the back two. The long silver hair is what Fuji has without his mask. And it makes sense that they wouldn't make him a giant.
Problem is the back right person would then be Honjo, and he doesn't look nearly effeminate enough. I think the front 4 on each side are all likely correct though.

This reminds me that I've watched the first movie recently. As someone who only read two volumes of the manga I thought it was a really cool movie. Even my father who never heard of Kenshin enjoyed it. :lol The action scenes were pretty damn cool.

Fukuyama is too small to play Hiko. Meh.
Mr Shishio sword on fire looks great
(but its strange that the trailer shows characters at breaking point (like Soujirou Seta) when they should be first introduced)
But im out of the loop: this (the kyoto arc) will be divided into two movies, or its only one?
