Ryse: Son of Rome season pass announced

Never purchased a season pass. And I never will.

Season passes are for Plebs.

I just farted, smelled a lot like the spaghetti I just made. Mince and chilli. There was some heat on it.

At what point is it safe to say that every single title released by a major publisher will have ongoing DLC, almost all of them will have a season pass, and so the existence of any one individual season pass ceases to become noteworthy or the kind of thing that's a point of advertising?

Games as a service... it's the future. ;)

I thought publishers were done with this garbage... Hopefully this is one of the first things to die out next gen as it's already getting pulled back by a few major publishers.

Nope. I think Nirolak posted a story last week that quoted EA as saying Season Passes are going to be bigger than ever next gen. Killzone has one and now Ryse. And they both can piss off.

Probability of me getting Ryse at launch: 100%. The probability of me picking up the season pass: 5%.

Can I just ask what about the game made you want to buy it. The combat looks fucking abysmal. The graphics are good yes...but, why the purchase, can you link me to footage you enjoyed?

Season Passes basically equate to "skins and maps for shitty tacked MP", at this point, right?

Decent passes are few and far between at this point.

Your post makes it sound like this is something new. This is old news...tons of games have been doing it for a while.

Not that I'm ok with it. It's been here for a while...and it isn't going away.
Well, I'm ignorant to all these online/season pass stuff, so yeah.
Still a crap arse thing to have though.

I thought Ryse would have Microtransactions..?

I even made a Gif about it..

New Killzone will have all future DLC be FREE. How about we reward them instead by buying the shit out of their game?
What the hell does Killzone have to do with the thread at hand? Did I miss a memo or something? I can't remember that thread shitting is allowed.

By the way, you need to pay 20$ extra just to play co-op in Killzone ;)

Stop getting the season passes. Just look at the poor souls who get a season pass for Bioshock.

Yeh but thats what happens when you trust a developer about DLC who have a track record for delays and they didn't specify what it would be in advance.

At least here they have said what the pass includes.

No way. Every game doesn't need a season pass. Certainly not this one. If multiplayer is better than a modest diversion I'll be surprised. No way I'll spend more money on it.

Wrong. Killzone's Season Pass is 20 fucking dollars. To add co-op. Yep.

Still feel like rewarding them?

God I am still so pissed that they are taking a full mode like coop out and trying to force people to buy it. Such bullshit. I would much rather have coop included, like it is in every other shooter that has coop, and then just charge for extra maps.

This looks like a great deal for people that enjoy the multiplayer. There seems to be a lot of content there for the money.

What's funny is that the mode Crytek didn't even code themselves is the one that's getting enhanced by the season pass. A mode that's continually ripped in previews. smh

The problem with every season pass is by the time the last DLC content trickles out I usually have little interest in revisiting the game. Don't see how Ryse would be an exception to that fatal flaw.

I'd probably need to see more of the game before considering buying something like this.
I'm perfectly fine with season's passes, especially ones like this one that seem to add a lot of content, but not when I have no real idea how the game plays or if it's even fun.

Ryse looks great, and seems to have pretty high production values but it's still not clear how good the game actually is.

I bought the Gears of War 3 season's pass and it paid off in spades, with both single and MP content. But then I knew what I was getting into as I was obviously familiar with the game and enjoyed the story. Seasons passes seem to me to be of more benefit for established properties tbh.

3 weeks before the console is out...

How do you feel about the Killzone Shadow Fall seasons pass that was announced in September?

The same. that shit should be in the game already. Dont tell me they spent years making the game, and just as it was finalized came up with all these neat ideas to add to the game in the last few weeks.

These sorts of things are always bad as they fragment the playerbase who choose to play online, while also giving the impression of receiving an incomplete product prior to purchase. While this season pass isn't as bad as the last battlefield pass, the trend isn't a good one in general.

I don't buy add-ons for games often and when I have, I never felt like what I bought was worth the money after the fact.

The existence of a season pass is fast approaching that, but the specifics of what the pass is supposed to give you is probably still newsworthy.

I guess the trend for most games will be pay 60$ and pay another 15-20 for shit that should of been included. I miss when 60$ meant a complete game.
