Ryu and Chun-Li fight each other a lot of times by the SF lore.

Alpha series, IV and V shows that very well.

If you want to read a fleshed comic on sf, go for sf3 new generation from Lee Chung Hing/Hui King Sum..
Practically turns competence into matti al art in a ki-like perspective, with akuma being a fighter that become a retard due to his excessive power corroding his mind..
In the later part ryu/ken fights SERIOUSLY after behaving as bastards to each other for SEVERAL issues (and o mean literally they would kill each other gladly at a certain point)..
Not the best manwa (i still prefer of manwa and another One which name i can't seem to recall.. It was more than 10 years ago) but still a good read

It's probably a safe assumption that Chun-Li met and possibly became friends with Ryu while she was pursuing Shadowloo and found out he was a person of interest to their plans for world domination(Bison's obsession with getting a new body and the Satsui No Hadou).

Outside of that the OP isn't entirely wrong. Chun is best friends with Cammy, and is probably closer to Guile & Nash via Interpol then she is with Ryu for any reason. But their paths keep crossing and will keep crossing because people are always pursuing Ryu for evil reasons and Chun's job is to stop the bad guys.

Ryu doesn't do sex. All he does is fight, and he fights to find that answer. If you tried to get with ryu, he would look at you funny and ask about what technique you are using.

Ryu and Chun-Li definitely know each other. Aside from running into each other while fighting in the tournament they both have the common link of M. Bison to contend with.

The reason you don't think that is because they don't work together like Chun-Li and Guile do. They are paired up because Chun-Li is with Interpol and Guile is with the Army and they pool their resources to find M. Bison, Gill or whatever and sort out what their plans are. Ryu tackles it head on, usually by being the interesting pawn the villains want or just by volunteering to be in the tournament.

They don't buddy up because they are in different worlds. Chun-Li is an agent who works with Guile (soldier) and even Cammy (British special forces). Ryu is just a street fighter who lives off the grid most of the time. But she tries to keep tabs on him as well as Ken and she and Ken sometimes have to chase him down to bail him out of danger.

I said the same thing about Ken & Akuma in another thread. I find it interesting because Ken & Ryu had the same master that Akuma killed. Wouldn't Ken want to look for him for revenge? Why hasn't he been tempted by the Dark Hadou like Ryu has?

For one, Ryu is not actively looking for revenge and the Dark Hadou is not something spurred on by Gouken's death. It initially surfaced at the prospect of losing to Sagat which is where he tapped into it and scarred Sagat. This is Street Fighter 1.

Ken is a more balanced individual. He isn't seeking becoming a great fighter through just fighting like Ryu. He has a family, a business and even a pupil. Ken isn't as obsessed with fighting like Ryu and in the Japanese manga he achieves becoming a master before Ryu (Street Fighter III-Ryu Final manga) because of his desire to fight for his family.

Just want to chime in, like many others have already:

Ryu and Chun DO know each other in the story. They are friends.

Someone already posted the A3 screen shot referencing this.

Their win quotes to each other in various games clearly show that they know each other.

Even in the SF4 OVA that came packaged with collectors edition (whether totally canon or not) shows that they know each other.
