Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer (PS3 2D-Shoot 'em up) ~first trailer~

I asked the developer why there is no XBLA release. One of them replied, the main reason being the download limit of 150MB. I think MS should stop the downloading limit BS now.

It was always slated for PC/PS3, never seen it mentioned for the 360.

Anyways can't wait, a mod on their forums has stated that it will hit Q2 on PSN.

I think they have been getting alot request for XBLA release, if MS do the smart thing and lift the XBLA size limit, there is a chance it might come to XBLA.

Doesn't it have to correspond with their largest mem card size?

Theres always a chance, but if what they said is true its up to MS. The game was made and released on PC (last Dec) it can go anywhere with little effort except maybe for the Wii!

The game sucks.

That is all.
I stopped tracking the game once I saw the trailer...not entirely sure why I felt this way, but I felt that the ship, enemy, and bullet movements looked 'off'

It's no Gradius V, but it looks ok, I guess.
But who cares what shooters look like - the gameplay's way more important.

Lots of people. Yeah the gameplay of a shooter is very important...but the art style and soundtrack still is pretty high on the importance meter. Cant really get into that bullet dodging and boss pattern trance if the art style is lacking and the soundtrack is lame.

Every good shooter has those 3 things in common: Great gameplay, nice art style/graphics for the system its on, and great soundtrack.

Have you played it? Or are you basing this off some video or something.

After seeing footage of the game, I think it's pretty safe to say that it's another example of a developer going "hey, this genre looks easy" and then totally failing to realize what makes a good shooter.

And I'd be surprised if anybody who plays these games didn't see it coming from the early media.

Of course, this is all based on footage. Maybe the last level was designed by Irem or something.

I have the game. Read the previous page, Ctrl-F 'resolution'

Yeah I saw you're post on the resolution, would that apply to the console version though?

Also about the color blending was it a big deal? game breaker? I really like these types of games, I'm willing to live with some faults as long as there not game breaking.

What about it made you feel it wasn't fun?

Thanks for the help!

The game just isn't 'fun'.

I have it on the PC and a great deal of screen real estate was ignored since, according to the devs 'a change in aspect ration will break the game(play)' or something to that effect.

Bingo! And that's from someone that hasn't even played it, but the comment was right on the money.

The game both sucks and blows.

I bought the PC version and put it on eBay the next day.

The art design is awful and the level/attack wave design is almost non-existent.

It reminded me of an early Amiga game where they were just happy about working on something higher resolution than a C64 but forgot they knew nothing about making games. (Come to think of it a lot of those early Amiga games used to be German too.)

I enjoy the game, its definitely got an underpowered feel and the scoring system is difficult to get the hang of. Feels like a game where it'll be more fun the longer you stuck with it and it will just suddenly click one day.
