Saint's Row Re-Elected (PS4) - How buggy is it?

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
I've never played SR4 or Gat out of Hell and have really wanted to for a while now. Re-Elected is on sale on PSN for $9, and I'm thinking about grabbing it, but I've read that it's a really bad port with a lot of technical issues and bugs. And looking at who did the port (High Voltage), I believe it. But how bad is it? Is it still worth getting or should I avoid it?

I remember it having framerate issues despite it being a graphically unimpressive last-gen game, don't know how buggy it is aside from that. Still, it's better than the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions so if you don't have a decent PC then it's probably worth getting.

I've honestly haven't had much problems with it. Frames drop every once in a while, but for that price I'd go for it.

I didn't encounter any bugs in the 50 hours or so I played it.

It's a pretty bare port though. They didn't shine it up or enhance it. But it's not broken either. It's still SR4. Easily worth the $9. I have yet to uninstall it from my PS4 since release. It's fun to go back to.

Seemed perfectly fine to me but I just did get into virtual Steelport.

If this version doesn't constantly lock up at the North Pole during Saints Save Christmas like my 360 copy did then I'll be a happy camper.

It's completely playable, just it's evidently a poor lazy port.

Personally I thought the game was pretty fun so probably worth a go at that price.

For that price I would say get it.

I've played it through, nearly plat'd it, and it wasn't that bad. The framerate is all over the place though, due to being unlocked.

The only issue I had was that I did have the game crash two times to the dashboard, but that was it.

It just looks and is a lazy port. Still fun as hell though.

I have had the game randomly freeze a couple of times for seemingly no reason, it required me to force turn my PS4 off (hold your finger on the power switch for 10 seconds). It happened to me 4 or 5 times during my ~30 hours with it.

The main issue with the port is that it's an extremely ugly game and it still fails to run at a consistent frame rate. It goes 60 fps in some indoor areas only and keeps fluctuating between 20-40 when you are in the open world. There's also no anti-aliasing whatsoever, the damn last gen versions had some kind of AA on!

It's...playable?

The framerate being erratic is sort of the least of the game's problems. Disappearing wardrobes and garages, completely random hard crashes (that get worse with the DLCs)...it's not great.

I had zero problems with Gat Out of Hell, and apart from having to rebuy clothing and occasionally hard reboot my PS4...at least it was less blurry than the PS3 version?

Honestly, $9 for both is probably the right price. Just be ready to hold the power button for a while, every now and then.

I've had maybe 3-4 crashes during Saints Row 4 during my platinum run. For 9 bucks though, I think its worth getting.

Gat out of Hell on the other hand, I just couldn't get into it. Only gave it a hour and a half and I just gave up. It was too similar to Saints Row 4 with all the side missions imo. Once I get other games finished I'll probably dive back into it.

It's certainly not a great port. I played through it a few months ago, and yeah it's mostly just the framerate that's garbage, though it did crash on me I think two or three times across the 25 or so hours I played. That being said it's totally playable and probably worth it for that price if you wanna play it.

It's playable. There aren't really many bugs that I encountered, it just doesn't run well for a PS4 port of a last gen game. Just shoddy work by whoever ported it.

If I were to play the game again, I'd probably just play the 360 version.

Oh god, the disappearing wardrobe. I forgot about that. That was really bad for a game like saints row.

I played it for like 45 hours. The game is fine and i did not encounter any bugs so far. There are issues though.

Framerate is a bit o a hit and miss and there are framerate drops that are noticable, but not gamebreaking. I think the main concern for this remaster was the fact that it was not up to a remaster standard it could / should have been.

Some noticeable frame drops when there's a lot of stuff going on but I just got my platinum a few days ago and it's a fine port overall, I had no real problems. Really fun game too.

I've heard nothing good about the performance. Supposedly it looks alright and has some extra particle effects over the other versions.

Get it on PC if you can, though. If you can't, I'd still check it out because it's one of the best open world games ever :)

I finished the game on PS4 (previously played on PC) and had no problems, but the graphics are pretty ugly and a few framerate issues at points. The gat out of hell DLC is also completely seperate on PS4, if you buy the disc you get a digital voucher for the DLC and it runs standalone.

If you finished the game already I wouldn't play it again, but I guess if you never played it then go for it.
