Saints Row The Third "Enter the Dominatrix" Disc-Based Expansion Announced

I love Saints Row the Third and I'm almost finished with the main game, so I will definitely pick this up if there is a lot of content. Do the people that paid full price for the season pass feel like they got their money's worth? I would be kind of pissed...

I got my season pass for free and I was kind of pissed. None of the 3 packs were all that great mission wise and you didn't get very good weapons/gear either.

ok infamous FOB make me learn that stand alone expansion of open world games might be good , if you go just crazy enough in them ..

So why not ?

I pre-ordered SR3 through THQ's site, so I got that season pass for free.

I'm not sure if I'll buy this at release, though. I haven't been impressed with the DLC.

Echoing the season pass talk, pretty underwhelming. Will prob wait a bit on this one.

Premise sounds cool tho, wonder how Volition will make it work with the possibilities of the current ending.

And lol @ getting superpowers in this after the Trouble with Clones DLC would have been the perfect place to insert them.

Put me down as 'cautiously optimistic.' I loved Saints Row 3 but the DLC has been disappointing. Hopefully they're on their A game for this expansion.

Yep. The base game is epic, but the DLC has been rubbish. I'll be curious as to which end of the spectrum this lands on.

I enjoyed SR3 well enough (though I liked SR2 better). But I love that this is a stand alone, disc-based expansion. I won't buy DLC (or EA games) because I hate the idea of publishers being able to take away content I paid for. I also like the idea of expansions, since they represent a middle ground between DLC and yearly sequels - something the industry used to support wholeheartedly, but now feels compelled to nickel and dime you on overpriced trinkets or release increasingly lazy yearly sequels that create series fatigue.

So, even if I hated SR3 (which I didn't), I'd still buy this to support the premise behind it. On disc. Expansion instead of sequel. I like it.

Awesome. I wish SR2 had been supported this well!

The SR3 DLC was disappointing because Genkibowl was just an expansion of the minigames, and Gangstas in Space was repetitive and horribly designed. But Clones was awesome: Gat, superpowers, bee gun, hilarious nerd character, and most importantly, varied and interesting gameplay. After playing the DLC, I thought I'd have to wait until SR4 for Volition to expand on the superpowers angle, so I couldn't be happier to hear this.

I have high hopes for the add-on, and at $30 it should be substantial. I'm hoping for new enemy types along the lines of the Decker specialists, and less like the Brutes.

Well said.

Saints Row 3 was great, the DLC was so-so. I'll definitely be looking at reviews, GiantBomb Quick Look, etc. before diving into this one.

still bitter about the lack of content regarding my Season Pass... And why not offer this as a download too? Surely later on?

Well, this is pretty much a must-buy for me. For reasons even I can't quite understand, SR3 was my GOTY. The DLC was mostly terrible except for Clones, but I've put more hours into it than any sandbox game I've ever owned other than maybe RDR.

I feel those who felt burnt with the pass, but personally, I've felt screwed multiple times on full-price digital content that I'm stuck with, so it doesn't bother me that much. I do hope that game companies get to a point where they all understand the value piece in selling these instead of perhaps seeing them as a lot of cash on the front end, but I'd rather be burnt on $10 than $60.

That being said, I'm pretty excited about this. :)

I hope this is as good of an expansion as Dragon Age: Awakenings was.

I loved Awakenings and thought it had a fantastic amount of content, even compared to the full game.

I have yet to dive into the Saints Row DLC (bought the season pass on sale a month or 2 ago), but if this is big enough and has all the good things about SR3 I might even buy it day 1.

Otherwise I'll wait a month or 2 for the 50% off steam sale for it. :D

I haven't tried the DLC, but an expansion that has enough content to get a full retail release has my interest piqued.

trap in virtual reality which means no powers after the expansion
I would assume most of this will take place in the virtual reality, also since it's standalone it may not carry over anything to the regular game. I would just treat this as its own completely separate thing unless we hear different.

Wish this on-disc expansion would include the prior DLC ala Red Dead: Undead Nightmare, but I know it won't happen. I feel for season pass owners though.

Hmm... I chalked up about 80 or so hours in the first month or two because I love sandbox games. $30 is a little steep, and no downloadable release has me interested. Hopefully they bring a lot to the table and this sells.

Color me cautiously interested.

So this is Saints Row The Third - Volume 2?
Im fucking in!

I suppose as they have modeled all the city and most of the characters this will be another amazing story with the same amount, or even more missions the first one had.

Will it be an alternative universe (the red sky, not wanting to conitnue the main story unitl SR4...), or a continue of the main story?
I hope they use the good ending if they continue the main story, but Im sure they are going to use the bad ending :(

Well they say it will continue the main story, they'll probably dance around which ending you did. (Doesn't make much difference either way if you think about it.) The conceit appears that some alien puts you in a virtual reality type situation where you get superpowers.

Love the Saint's, I'm there day one. They would make my video game year if they announced 4p co-op for this expansion.

I just traded ME3 for Saints Row the Third. Just in time for DLC a sweet EXPANSION PACK.

Daddy like.

By the way, my ability to flip a game I don't like for another game is going to directly put money in THQ and Volition's pocket. All thanks to the ability to play and trade used games.

Apart from
dead characters and totally different endings for the saints (good ending the group stays as a merchandise movie producers but in an even greater scale, bad ending the saints turn into a normal mafia gang like they were in SR2 and you turn the mayor of Steelport)
so I say I really see a giant difference between the two.
However if some aliens came and put you into a virtual reality machine that means for me a paralel universe were the SR3 ending doesnt mean shit until SR4.

Well OK sure but the fact that you can do both endings in the same play through (and I'm pretty sure
Shaundi remains a homie
no matter what) suggests to me that Volition doesn't really care which ending is canon and which isn't.

Even Capcom would be ashamed. I usually don't like making absolute decisions based on some publisher's policies, but after buying SR3 im pretty sure I'll never touch a Saint's Row game again. People who spent money on that season pass (which didn't even get you those weekly 2.99 mini DLCs) must be pissed.

It's a shame because SR3 really gave me the impression that Volition finally found their sweet spot.

Shaundi
dies in the ending where you go after Killbane instead of saving Shaundi and that other girl.
