Anyone with Verizon gotten their phones activated yet? I been told their systems were having trouble today but I still haven't been able to activate my phone yet tonight.

I have activated 2 (not tonight) but I had no issues. I just called and they did it while I was on the phone with them. I also paid for them both ...... poor wallet.

I've been trying to setup my lockscreen to be fingerprint unlocked from Settings > Personal > Lock Screen and Security > Screen lock type but it's still showing up as a simple "swipe to unlock." I tried switching it to a simple pattern, but it's not switching.

Am I missing something? Is this a bug? Please don't tell me to reset ;_;

Do you have Smart Lock enabled?

When selecting the fingerprints option is it asking you to calibrate your finger print all so it recognizes it? That's the best I can say on it...

Tried this feature and didn't like it...phone had a hard time recognizing my fingerprint and I had to resort to using the pin backup to get in.

I really like the fingerprint lock. When you digitize your fingerprint make sure to do it in many different angles and positions, that way the phone will make a better picture of your finger and it will work better.

It did, and I was able to save my finger print. But now I suspect it's related to smart lock as my home address was pulled automatically as a safe place from Google maps.

Open settings and search for Smart Lock. In there, remove the trusted place and it should work.

Don't forget you can have more than one finger print! I did my thumb on both hands since I found out I unlock from both. I am right dominate but found out I use my left mostly to unlock (because of the pocket I put the phone in).

Try looking at your "Secure lock settings > Secured Lock Time" under Lock Screen and Security. It may just be requiring a fingerprint or password after a certain amount of time. The default for mine was 10 minutes, switched it to Immediately.

yea their systems have been fucked all day. I went to verizon today and i wasn't authorized to make changes to the account and i couldnt login to the account, even though i set the password earlier this week. So i came home, at first i couldnt even get to the page to make myself an account manager, because of "maintenance." Then later i got there and it was taking over 30 minutes to send me the confirmation text. So something is definitely up with their systems.

The front facing camera on my S7 edge seems pretty bad quality wise. The pictures seem to be slightly blury (I've lowered all the beauty settings or whatever it's called). My iphone 6 seems to be taking better pictures with the front camera.
Apparently there's a bug with how the front camera focuses, which results in faces being blurry. Hopefully it'll be resolved soon.

What's the word on how scratch resistant these screens are? I'm coming from a moto x 2nd Gen with no screen protector and it's screen is unscathed despite being in my pocket with keys on more than a few occasions. I don't like screen pritectors, but Ill use one if I have too.

Yep this is big. I actually entered multiple fingerprints for both thumbs and it works super fast for unlocking. I was a pattern man before, but now the speed is finally there to make this better, as long as you do two prints for each thumb I think.

I'm on Verizon and was able to activate automatically by calling from my old phone and just saying "activate." The instructions in the box to just run setup on the S7 didn't work but now it's up and running.

One really minor complaint is that I wish the AOD themes had the ability to set a new clock design for AOD. they all just have an image and the generic and small date/time unfortunately. So I've played with some themes but ultimately stuck with the default for now. I also wish you could make the AOD clock fixed. No idea why it has to occasionally move around like it's a Windows 95 screensaver or something. Distracting because when I see my phone image change I always assume there's a new message or something I need to attend to.

Edge stuff seems decent too. It's snappier than on the S6 (where I never used it), which means there's a chance I'll use it (as long as I remember). Overall quite like the feel of the phone. A little slippery and slightly more plastic feeling than the S6's I think, but the size (of the S7 Edge) is really perfect. Always found the S6 Edge+ just slightly unwieldy. The rounded edges on the front and back are a big deal in terms of practical use. Phone us much easier to pick up regardless of how you set it down.

Interested to start using this heavily to see how it holds up and whether I wind up leaving AOD and Edge stuff on. I ultimately disabled all that on all my S6's just to get better battery, but hopefully that won't be needed here.

Alright, I'm officially on the hunt to get this phone before the 23rd. You guys think it's doable? I leave the country then..

Went to Best Buy and played with it... such a nice device, incredible screen, and TouchWiz didn't seem totally awful. Camera seems very impressive, too. They guy working the Samsung section said they were backordered until the 23rd, which is not helpful...

I tried calling around to a few places, and ATT had the Gold in stock but no Black. Is my best bet to keep hounding my local ATT stores? Or would other places like Target/Costco be more likely to have stock?

This is probably nitpicking but I found text in s7e pentile amoled jaggy at certain angles/strokes of the various alphabet, as compared to rgb fhd z2.

Try to max zoom in chrome and compare if you guys are interested

Pentile has came a long way since s3, but it is still pentile-y.

What was the post number?

Here you go.

These are a few to get you started.

1. Back up all your contacts with your iPhone to Google. That way when you sign in with your S7, contacts will automatically sync in.

2. If you need to back up anything else from your iPhone, you can use the Samsung SmartSwitch app on your Mac or PC.

3. Hold your finger on an empty part of the home screen, swipe left and turn off Upday or Flipboard. This will just make things quicker.

4. Go to Settings > About Device > Software Info, > and then click on build number 5 times.

Then go back to Settings > Developer Options, and change the following to 0.5x instead of the default 1.0x. Everything will be quicker.

Window Animation Scale
Transition Animation Scale
Animator Duration Scale

5. Go to settings, then themes, and search and install the Android 6.0 theme.

6. Download and use Chrome.

7. Hold your finger on the stock browser in your app draw on the home screen, and slide to trash can. Then slide Chrome (and anything else you want) in.

8. Hold your finger on an empty part of the home screen, then click on screen grid, and choose 5 x 5.

9. Download and install SwiftKey.

10. Go to Settings > Display > Screen Mode > and choose Basic. This is the most accurate mode.

11. Make sure in camera settings, you have double tap home button to launch camera on. This is the quickest way to launch your camera, even whilst your screen is inactive.

12. If your phone is connected to Bluetooth in your car, go to Galaxy Apps, search Samsung Music and then download it. The app will be called Music, and it'll look like an orange pair of headphones. Use this when in your car, as you will be able to change tracks with the controls on your steering wheel.

13. If you listen to headphones or earphones a lot, I recommend downloading PowerAmp. It's the best music player out there for phones.

14. Turn off GPS and Bluetooth when not being used. Easy to do by sliding down the settings tray from the top of your screen.

15. Slide down settings from the top of your screen, then slide down again, click edit, and turn off Quick Connect. Now you have more space for notifications.

16. If you're using fingerprint scanner, register the index finger and thumb of both your right and left hands. It'll be useful when you're using it on the other hand, or its lying flat etc. You can register up to 4 prints so it'll be enough.

Bought my phone today at about 1:45, by 6:00 it still hadn't activated. Apparently, Verizon scheduled a system maintenance for today that went wrong. Their customer service told me in a chat that: "we had scheduled system maintenance that crashed our systems. This caused a severe back log in activations and I'm confident is what has affected your device. The good news is that it will correct itself."

Took it back to the store and they gave me a new SIM card that immediately activated.

Ime i just leave Location (GPS/Wifi/Mobile) on. The Doze mode ensure there is no battery drain when GPS is not required. In fact, i also left it on with my Z2 (5.1.1) and idle battery still holds up.

I guess unless you use Apps where it constantly wants to get your location, that will kill your battery.

I will turn off bluetooth though since i dont use bluetooth headset, and in S7 there is also something about nearby device scanning, i turned that off too.

Yup. This was exactly the issue.

-___- i didnt ask for the Battery capacity & voltage.. just simple real time, hands on results for one day after being fully chaged...

I got mine on Tuesday - I have lots of stuff that updates in the background - GPS on, WiFi on at home, etc. Screen brightness set to just under half. I'm a medium user.

I get a good 24 hours out of it - I haven't actually let it run out completely yet. I reckon I'd get 30 hours on one charge.

Can't figure out how to change settings so that if I receive a message (whatsapp for example) it will show the whole message on the lock screen and not just "Whatsapp new message".

"Hide Content on lock screen" is turned off!

Do you have "always show popup" selected in the notifications in the WhatsApp settings?

Neat. What did you like about coming from the M7? I actually really enjoyed the HTC phone, but software updates really dragged it down.

It's far snappier, the screen is crisper, the camera is literally mind blowing coming from the M7. I like the way samsung handles tabs over HTC.

I read this was done to prevent burn in as it would be stuck in the same spot ALL day.

A friend of mine got the S7 Edge yesterday as he couldnt wait to get it right after release in th UK, and I still dont get what is actually "new" about it. I like the rounded edges but they don't add anything new to the table...

Well, good for Samsung for staying relevant with minimum effort, I guess...

Waterproofing is a pretty big deal, not to mention the battery life enhancements. They can't innovate every year, you know....

Been using my S7 for a week now, best phone I've ever had. Kind of regret not getting the edge though. Thought it was still gimmicky.

So battery life is amazing but what makes it even better is just how fast this thing charges. I was able to charge the phone to 30% in about 20 minutes I think.

Did anyone upgrade from a s6 to a s7? Wondering if its worth the extra $200-250 or so to upgrade to it.

The battery life on the s6 has me disappointed.

Qualcomm's Quick Charge is the best thing to happen to mobile device charging. On my 15 minute trip to work I can get enough battery to last the whole night.

Samsung Pay question. I just added a Bestbuy gift card I have had lying around for 100 years (I am old). Can I toss (cut up and stuff) the actual card even though I have not used the cash yet?

Yes, that is the case. I did it and the cashier scanned the barcode on my phone just fine.

So upgrade from S6 edge worth it? Besides battery drain S6 edge has been favorite phone to date. Never had so many ask what type of phone I had. Those that made the one year jump how is it?

I think the edges add quite a bit. I've been playing with mine and the screen is noticeably bigger, the quick launch bar on the edge has already come in handy, and the way stuff "falls" off the screen is a nice aesthetic. The edge itself may not be a huge leap forward but it's enough in my opinion

Depends if the extra features are worth it to you. Do you care about:

1) Waterproofing
2) Phenomenal battery life
3) Improved camera (especially in low light)
