Any word if the G5 saw any improvements in image processing for this to happen? As far as I know it has the same camera as the G4 and V10, and while good, I don't remember them winning any face-offs.so according to recent tests of GSM arena G5 has better camera. Didnt expected this honestly as s6 and g4 were similar with slight edge to s6

So my free Gear VR just shipped.
I already returned the phone lol.
Got my Gear VR today, but I just can't get the free games. I registered an account during the process of installing the Oculus software, but it's not there in my library. The support for this is a joke. Everything only insists that it will be there, and I've been on hold with Prize Logic 3 times for over a half hour each time only for the call to get disconnected before taking to anyone.
Amy suggestions?
On my samsung edge 7 at the top of the screen are various icons. I have 5 facebook icons, which I believe means they are open and running in the background? Well, I tried an app called "shut app" which supposedly closes every single open app but the icons persist up top for facebook. what do the multiple icons represent and how do I rid of them?
Did you try looking the games up in the store to see if they're ready to be installed?
The games are:
Deer Hunter VR
Herobound: Spirit Champion
Mortal Blitz VR
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
Land's End
Alternatively, on your device, hit the Oculus app, click menu on top left and select library and then scroll all the way to the right and look under "Not Installed"
Did you use the same login information for oculus as you did for your samsung account?
I'm wondering if offer expired otherwise.
unless the crack went all the way through the case, I wouldn't worry
but then you can't take the risk of misting inside the display, yikes
Thinking of upgrading. So how much faster is it than the S4, you know, real talk here.
I am coming from an s4 and the difference is huge. TouchWiz is also way way better now. But, above all, the building quality of the s7 makes the s4 look frankly terrible. I'm super happy with this phone and I feel like I could settle with it for quite a few years tbh.

No prime anymore, damn it... Oh well, I'm still dropless on week 3 with my skin
Decided to take the plunge and get an S7 edge (also ordered a spigen neo hybrid case). Had Nokia (Lumia) phones for the past 5 years and I'm finally sick of the lack of apps and the quality/features of the handsets has also fallen behind.
This will be my first Android phone so I'm excited to see what I've been missing out on. Can anyone recommend any essential apps I might need?
Nova Launcher, Greenify, Google Messenger (sms app), Fenix (best twitter app), Moko Icon pack![]()

Been thinking of switching from iOS back to android, and the S7 Edge seems like the phone at present.
Is there some way I'm not thinking of to get the most money from selling my phone or am I going to have to suck it up and go the Amazon marketplace route and wait three weeks with a temp phone to get the money for my iPhone?
You're a life saver. Cheers!

I'm not sure I'd suggest greenify on Marshmallow devices. The native Doze settings for apps work pretty damn well and the battery life is amazing as it is for this device.
Fenix is totally worth the sticker shock price. I hope he adds Wear support at some point, but hey, that'd just be a bonus to an amazing app.

EE
Samsung s7 edge £220 32.49 a month with 5 gig Internet
What about that deal, after I pay the 220 the Contract is 5pounds more than sim only
How do I get in touch with Samsung about my VR? It has not shipped and my ticket was never answered. I used the contact us button while doing a search on my order.
In Europe you can contact Samsung even by whatsapp, super convenient.
Thanks for the suggestions. It should be here tomorrow, woot!
Kinda getting sick of my battery life now, only unplugged at 11am, now 7pm, used the phone for a half hour bus ride and my one hour break and a few minutes beyond that... 30% left now. 2hr screen on time only.
And nope I'm not deleting the FB app which my phone tells me only used up 2%. My Xperia Z2 would likely be over 60% left by now, 50% at least and I had FB on that and used it just the same.
Grr.
Get Chrome Beta, it's far more battery efficient. Also, why so much for your screen? Do you have the brightness way up or something?

EDIT: This feels like iPhone level battery life, what the fuck is going wrong? Can't be right. Not micro managing apps. Done enough to ensure it should last me a full day so something weird is up considering how everyone praises the batt life. And nope not played any games or Gear VR, this is just a very ordinary day of usage yet it will likely be on it's deathbed by the time my shift is over in a couple of hours.
Nope 50% or less apart from 5 minutes I used it outside (on auto). I've got chrome Beta, I'll start using it but it must be more than that. I've disabled Google contacts sync and some other stuff I know isn't good for batt life but that should be enough.
Battery life is so relative since it depends on so many factors. That's why some people get 7h SoT and other barely get 4. For example in my case (I have a nexus 6) if I mostly stay at home I easily get 6.5 or in some cases 7 hours SoT, but at work I sometimes barely go over 4. I feel the biggest variables are wifi and mobile data. At home I'm connected to a single router with good signal. At work (at a university) I constantly switch between dozens of different routers and mobile data (4g and 3g) and the phone is in my pocket where it doesn't go into full Doze. So my idle drain goes from 0.3% per hour to about 1.5% per hour.
That's why I feel the SoT metric for battery life is a bit meaningless. I feel that screen on and idle drain percentages per hour are much more useful.
That also why it bothers me when people just simplify the issue with "Facebook app" or "Greenify everything!", or disable everything. It's not that simple and I also don't like removing functionality from my phone.
You seem to be getting some pretty bad idle drain, along with Chrome. From your stats it's easy to see when your screen is off, and those slopes seem to indicate about 3-5% idle drain per hour, which is pretty bad. Are you out and about a lot? Do you use wifi at work? How's your signal strength? Do you use your phone on your commute? Those factors can have a dramatic impact on battery life.
Do you use the Exynos or Snapdragon variant? If you use SD, there's a few chromium based browsers that can sync Yo your Google account yet offer much lower battery drain.
I just expected it to be similar to my Xperia Z2 which had solid battery life, the S7 has similar capacity and should generally be more efficient. Doze standby is very good usually, I can leave it overnight and lose a few percent. I just don't get why it's running down like this. I'm doing a 9hr or so shift in work and fortunately there's a charger here. My Z2 could get through a 13hour shift and just make it home with a decent amount of use.
On the same network, same number transferred over to nano sim, exact same conditions as I used my Z2 before. It's baffling. 20% now, dropped 10% since my first post..
Sony does include some aggressive tweaks to improve battery with their stamina mode. Are you on wifi at work? LTE? HSPA? If you are on wifi, try setting it so that wifi stays on during sleep only when plugged in and see if that makes a difference.
No WiFi in work but I just checked the WiFi settings and set that to only keep WiFi on when charging... Wonder if that helps.
My phone strains to maintain a 4G signal so I've had it limited to use 2G/3G/H+ as I used to do with my Z2 as well. Thanks for the suggestions btw!
