Thanks for the review.

The bolded is interesting to me. Can you download songs through Play Music to it so you can listen to music without your phone? That would be helpful for ditching the phone when running.

You can stream on Gear but since Play Music doesn't have a native Gear app I'm not sure that you can just keep a local playlist on there for example, but you can definitely send content there: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/57749/transfer-music-samsung-gear-s2/

Alright...

Does anyone else have this weird glitch when they take a photo and go to the gallery, maps suddenly stopped working message comes up?

It's happened like a half dozen times now.

Is location tagging turned on in your camera app? If so, try these:

Clear data and cache from maps
Clear data and cache from camera
Make sure both maps and camera have the location permission

Google Keyboard got an Update!!!

Looks AWESOME AS HELL!

I finally got a new phone back after the first arrived with a dead camera, so I'm trying to get up to speed.

I've been skimming the thread, but does anyone have any link to a page with essential apps and the really cool stuff to get the most out of the phone.

Google is failing me so far. All I'm getting is the basic setup, but I've already done that. I want more custom stuff and see what you guys recommend.

Considering coming from iPhone 6 to Galaxy S7 Edge. Has anyone made the change here? If so any tips on getting iTunes library to galaxy and anything that will let me utilize airplay on some of my home devices?

Just install the Google Play Music uploader/sync app on your PC or Mac, point it to your iTunes folders - open google play music on your phone and it'll all be there.
(If you have any really old files from when they still used DRM you might be screwed on them - bar ripping the DRM off with some app off the net.)

Also, Chromecasts - £30 (or the equivalent in your currency) each - you'll never look back.

Define airplay. I know my iPhone would "airplay" to my Bluetooth headphones. Android has Google cast which works on a lot of things. I'd do some research, there are definitely equivalent things, but it isn't a one to one switch.
I also second just using the Google play music uploader and pointing it to your iTunes folders. And if youre interested in a streaming service, Play Music is great because it includes youtube red which is fantastic.

I just got my S7 Edge and i'm loving it so far, however whenever I try to text someone (either iPhone or Android user) the texts usually fail and I have to retry a couple times before they actually send.

Any ideas?

Good signal?

Try Textra or Google Messenger. These 2 are the best Sms Apps for Android.

I almost always get comments from people about how nice the screen is and how nice it feels in their hands. I should work for Samsung because of how easy it is for me to make people consider upgrading or ditching their iPhone by just letting them do something as simple as call/text someone or mess around on my Play Music.

I had an S6 and loved it but had to switch carriers. Had to do that like 'two of the same' type thing. Went in with my brother - he wanted an iPhone so now I have an iPhone and man, I wish I had the S7 Edge.

Really loving my S7 Edge and surprisingly the Samsung browser with ad blocker. The camera is also out of this world.
But how the fuck do they get the display looking like the icons are printed on the screen? There's no gap.

Instagram is still borked on my S7, anyone else having this issue? The Tilt Shift feature just doesn't work, how can a powerhouse phone not handle this when a much older phone can?

Because of a bug in the coding of the app? It's definitely not the hardware.

So I was asking in this thread about a clicking noise that i would hear whenever starting the camera app. It was slight but over time got quite annoying. I went to Samsung repair place and they switched out rear camera and now it's gone. So if your phone makes a click sound when opening rear camera you can switch it out.

My S6 has that, getting a free S7 in a few days though.

I have a 6s plus... Any iPhone to edge 7 people here? How was the transition?

I went from an iPhone 5s to edge 7 for a few weeks.

biggest UX change was going from the “swipe from edge” gesture in apps to tapping the back button on the lower right below the screen to go back in the app’s UI. took me a little while. muscle memory is real. Also, the prevalent use of the upper left corner menu button is tough to reach right handed on a 5.5” screen. I still prefer a lower nav bar.

aside from that, there was some time figuring out if i wanted to use widgets a lot on the home screens (I still find them to be only mildly useful). and I probably didn’t make full use of the two-apps-on-one-screen feature. i tried it a couple times and it would be useful for some things but i still think a 16:9 5.5” screen is too small to spend much time with that feature.

some nice apps didn’t have options to pay to remove ads. and when, for an RSS reader, the ads were occasionally full page interstitial ads, that was an annoying omission.

regarding fluidity and responsiveness of the UI, the device seemed pretty solid and I had no concerns, really. much better than my last jaunt into Android land ~4 years ago.

Ultimately, i went back to my smaller iPhone for ergonomic (and some niche webapp compatibility) reasons but it was fun to explore android hw/sw for a little while.

Thanks I appreciate the insight.

I had an issue just now where Spotify said no storage was found every time it loaded.

Had to clean all Spotify files, remove my SD Card and then re-install it before re-mounting the SD card to fix it.

Touch Wiz seems so much better than it used to be. I absolutely despised Touchwiz on the Galaxy S3 and it still felt sluggish with the Note 4 which I used for about a week. S7 Edge seems very smooth so far. Even the Samsung keyboard seems greatly improved.

Is the Edge portion more of a gimmick or do people use the Samsung Edge widgets? I'm mostly been just re-downloading apps, setting up accounts, etc since I haven't used Android in about 1.5 years.

i have a s6 edge atm ..just a question re private mode.

if you have Sd card in yr S7, and you have photos stored on that .. can you private mode those ...or is it limited to media you store internally?

I use apps, people, calendar and data monitor on my edge. Pretty useful for me. It's nice that you can use folders and the game launcher on the apps drawer, increases its usefulness manifold. Oh. Also tools. But mainly for the torch, which you can also access through the notification drawer.

is useful even on S6.

the marshmellow update to S6 apprently brings the shortcut feature in as well...

Samsung definitely hit it out of the park with the S7; as someone who moved from a Nexus 6P to an S7 Edge, at no point have I missed the stock experience.

As for the Edge panel, it's a gimmick but I do use the Apps panel at least. I keep my home screen one page, so I put apps that I access on special, but regular occasions there (like Netflix and Giant Bomb Video Buddy, which I use when weight lifting).
