does anyone have any suggestions for a very slim, leather pouches for the s7 edge?

sena are dragging their feet on a pouch for the S7 edge ...

it works.

after you choose to migrate .. all photos and ocos etc are moved to the SD card adopted storage .. and apps are left to your choice via sytems settings ... i've found prob 60% of my apps gave me the option to move, the cool thing is they move in total, not just partly as we have seen before.

but as others have said, i prefer to leave my apps on true internal for speed reasons and not wanting to risk the life span of my SD card.

but the big win here is how the gallery and camera app work post migration .. they default to SD card storage, new pics and video taken i can see being saved to the new Sd card 'internal' ... and the bonus here is that google photos now gains back rights to delete these. prior it was forcing me to launch the gallery app to delete media on my regular SD 'external' storage.

Dump FB and use the mobile page, it's the same thing with none of the battery draw, .Both Chrome and the Samsung browser support mobile notifications so you won't even miss facebook alerts.

I get about the same battery life, my 4g signal is crazy spotty at my desk which i blame for it.

Just turn off all notifications in the app, it stops it updating until you open it manually.

For extra measure enable permanent battery saving on it and messenger as well. It won't do a thing until opened then. I never see Facebook registering in battery stats.

Just made the plunge. I was using the Xperia Z3 for a while and there were a few things that my next phone had to have:

-At least IP68 rating
-No-hassle charging (the Z3 had a magnetic port which was so good)
-A good camera
-LTE Band 12 support (basically T-Mobile)

With Sony more or less conceding the market, the S7 Edge was my next choice. First time I used a screen protector too, but it was too nice of a phone. I did use a Speck green/gray color case, looks ugly aesthetically but damn it I want my phone to stand out a bit from all the black cases.

I'm similar to you. I rocked an original Xperia Z (that was the full name). Looked too nice to ugly it with a cover so I didn't for years- I pre ordered it directly from Sony to avoid those ugly carrier logos. I am buying a fashion designed high end phone, not a NASCAR jacket.

When it finally died for good, I got an S7 edge. Man, what a phone. It truly is the best thing out there for now. Aaaaand I should probably start using a cover for it even though it looks so smooth.

But the mobile site does everything FB does AND gives notifications without drain, so why waste the space?

I think the mobile site uses more data as it has to reload everything every time you open Facebook. The Facebook app seems like it caches data and has to load less. This is anecdotal evidence from when I stopped using the app and only used FB through Opera Mini's browser (which also has FB notifications). Either way I didn't notice enough of a diffrence in battery usage so I went back to the app.

Nice to know. How about moving Oculus and it's apps? That's what's eating all my internal space...

i think from memory most of the VR related apps didn't give me the option to choose, so i suspect they are stuck on internal. prob for performance reasons ... it comes down tot he app dev weather or not to allow it i think

Hoping someone here can help me. I got the umbra icon pack and every time I try to apply a wallpaper it asks me to allow it access, and I allow it, but then I get a message "screen overlay detected" and it wants me to change the permission setting, but I have no idea how :/

edit: nvm it fixed itself as soon as I closed out of my video chat on messenger lmao.

I never dropped my phone, but for some reason my screen started dying— red lines started appearing around white elements, blacks started getting a green hue, and the always on display became dimmed and yellowish. It's getting worse by the hour. Anyone experience this? Is a replacement the only solution?

yup

I've been really looking forward to the release Galaxy S7 Edge here in Japan, it was released on the 19th of May on the AU carrier.
I picked it up as soon as I finished work on 19th.

I was loving my phone until I ran some bench tests and I was shocked and horrified by the results.

The Japanese S7 Edge CPU is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820
MSM8996 2.2GHz + 1.6GHz
With an Adreno 530 running the display. The results against other phones ranks it 11th place.

If feel like sending it back but this being Japan, customers have no window to send products back if the user isn't satisfied with the product. I feel robbed as I was hoping the S7 would provide me with best/smoother VR performance than the S6.

The S7/Edge (Exynos) is a BEAST.

Best and fastest phone ever.

Anyone here use Android Pay and know if the LED flip case would block it? Thin cases are usually fine I think - but my understanding is that the LED case uses NFC for set up and notifications.

Is having an NFC chip in the case and next to it all the time going to stop other NFC applications working, like a card clash type thing?

I'm totally done with Good Lock. It's aesthetically fantastic but functionally a pile of garbage. I had no problems with my phone since the last update but at this point, I'm getting 7-8 bug reports a day on it as well as my phone arbitrarily crashing and rebooting (and then promptly disabling the app). Considering once I switched back to stock I had no issues, it's pretty obvious where the problem lies. It's a shame too.

WTF i am sorry 7 crash a day is not normal.what are you doing with the phone.

I'm aware it's not normal. I wouldn't be making a post condemning whatever the hell is happening if I thought it was anything to do with my use. It's definitely good lock because it doesn't crash on stock samsung. Looking around different forums and places, I'm not the only one who has had this issue (seems to be quite a few who said the app flat out bricked their phone, which I didn't have). I'm not sure what causes it, but I find my issues definitely seem to be related to bluetooth connections and audio streaming..

Just an FYI, by crash I mean it crashes the launcher and issues a bug report. It doesn't crash reboot the phone. That has happened twice now since the last update. This time I decided I'm done with it. Been off good lock for 24 hours and no issues. No weird input, no app issues, no android bug reports, nothing.

I love Good Lock. It's an awesome app and when it works it's second none for galaxy phones, but I just couldn't deal with it anymore. FWIW, one of my friends had the same problems with completely different usage.

got my S7 edge today. it is such a nice looking device. a lot of people said it's slippery to hold but not at all for me. feels good in hand but can be awkward typing due to the curved edge. i've hit buttons while typing by accident more than a few times already but i'm getting used to it.

the phone feels fast and smooth performance wise. doing certain things will cause a bit of framedrop/lag such as exiting edge menus but no big deal. can't say much on battery just yet obviously but when i first turned it on it was at 45% and by the time i had finished setting it up a few hours later it was only at 24%. really happy with the phone so far but just trying to get used to the software changes. i'm too used to stock android on my nexus 5 but i'll be fine.

was looking at a case to buy but i can't decide. i'll probably just use it without one. don't mind it getting lightly scratched or anything and it seems if i were to drop it with a case it wouldn't help protect the screen much so don't see a point in getting one.

The phone is brand new...it was a day old when I ran those benchmark tests. No energy saving modes activated. I'm scratching my head as to why my scores are so low. I might go to the store and run benchmarks on the in store units.

I don't care about benchmarks too but his score is 50000 lower than the standard score.

Guess a factory reset should help.

Or he activated the energy saving mode lol

After playing it for a little bit

What I like
-Dat OLED
-Camera is much better than what I had on the Z3 - tbf the Z3 wasn't that great to start with
-Touchwiz isn't too bad - though the last time I had a Samsung was the S2
-Wireless charging - missed this when my HP Touchpad died
-The hardware button isn't as garish as it used to be and so happy for fingerprint sensor
-Samsung Pay

What I didn't like
-Edge is still a gimmick
-Always On Display is very limited, wish it gives notifications from all apps like LG or Moto
-No USB-C

Other notes
-That Zagg screen protector isn't as good as I hoped. It still has the scratch marks when I tried to make a signature with my DS stylus (didn't register). Any recommendations for a better brand? I'm aware it's doing what it's intended.
-Speck candyshell is a good case; not a lint magnet like most of the other cases

I'm getting the replacement tomorrow. I never dealt with AT&T or had to have a phone replaced before, do they normally send a new phone or a refurbished? If it's the latter, is there a track record for the quality?

I had to replace mine with asurion, it's refurbished but seems to be holding up well.

I work for a AT&T call center. An Asurion rep told us they either replace it with a like new device which is when someone opens up the box but decides to return it or an actual refurbished device that's had some sort of repair.

loving my S7 edge so far. still on it's first charge! battery is crazy coming from a Nexus 5 and the camera is fantastic.

the only thing bothering me right now is the screen. it's probably the best screen i've seen on a smartphone but i'm noticing some very faint horizontal lines when scrolling up and down and on certain wallpapers you can make them out. i'm not sure if this is just the way AMOLED screens are made and it's completely normal? i remember when i used my friends Galaxy S4 a few years ago it had the same thing on it and so did some display models in retail stores. it seems to be most noticeable when the brightness is lower. my first thought was that it was some kind of backlight issue but what i've read is AMOLEDs don't have backlights like in other phones? i've seen a lot of people say how samsung arguably make the best screens out. is my phone defective or am i just worrying about nothing here?

i just don't want to go through the hassle of wiping my phone and replacing it to find out it's normal. i'll see how i get on the next few days and if it's still really bugging me then i'll just return it.

Just picked up my s7 edge after using iOS for the last two years due to work. Loving it so far, but for the life of me, I can't understand why not a single app is showing the badge number counters for notifications (Gmail, messenger, twitter, etc.).

What am I missing? As for as I can tell, I have all notification settings turned on.

I do notice it and perhaps the most when browsing gaf on the phone with the dark theme, when scrolling in a thread the gray bands seem to leave a weird halo behind, like ghosting. It is as you say worse with low brightness. This same issue I saw with my S4 (albeit more noticeable even) so it sucks that it has not been solved. I guess it's an amoled thing but I have no idea.

What launcher are you using? I know the default TouchWiz launcher does support badge counterss but I'm not sure if it has to be enabled; other launchers like Nova and Apex require the premium version and an additional plugin.

I guess I am still on TouchWiz. I haven't used an Android phone since 2010 (HTC Incredible), so I am quite out of the loop. Is there a consensus on which is the best launcher between Nova and Apex?

Hello,

So, I have this weird issue with my S7 Edge. It seems to be random, but sometimes, when I want to unlock the screen, just touching the middle of the screen will register a "move" in a direction (while I didn't move my finger in any directions at all, and my other fingers are nowhere near the touchscreen). I was completly unable to unlock my phone unless I restarted it, since doing so seems to remove the bug temporarly. I discovered that this issue only affects the middle of the screen (if I decide to unlock my phone by swapping my finger near the top of the screen, it works perfectly). What puzzles me if the randomness of it: sometimes I encounter that bug, sometimes my phone works just fine. Has anyone experienced this?
