One quick tip/recommendation....

I've tried almost all the loaders and for some reason the only one that keeps my phone from getting hot is ZenUi.

Not sure why but Nova, Apex and even Google Now were causing my phone to overheat. Im thinking it must be a 3rd party app that's not playing nice with loaders other than Zen.

are you using an animated wallpaper or the motion/parallax wallpaper those could make the phone run hotter. also they're launchers not loaders :P

I'm now awaiting a Spigen Neo Hybrid case to arrive... the TPU bumper I got for free when I bought my phone is turning loose in a month. It doesn't feel secure at all, so I'm now hoping that the new case I have ordered yesterday to be able to keep the phone tightly held and give it protection.

Am I weird for thinking the gold version fits better than the actual blue? I have a Blue Coral phone.

The S7 edge is letting me do a lot of things I have never done before either way... it just feels so fragile. Just now had taken quite a lot of great pics including selfies in my first pub night 😀

Battery has started draining in less than 3 hours of use and charging is slow even though it says fast charging. Will att or Samsung replace it as it's a defect? Mine is cracked which worries me in terms of them thinking I just want a free phone but I can show att the battery data at least.

Might have a short in the cracked screen or something.

Got a free S7 a week ago. After having notes for my last 3 phones it's a bit tough getting used to a much smaller screen, but otherwise I like it.
It's nice and fast, has a great camera, and the battery life seems to be much better than what I had on the Note Edge.

Hah, I mean launchers :P I'll test out the toggling the motion wallpapers.

PS I've since uninstalled zen because of other weird UI issues. Went back to Google now.

I just renewed my Vodafone contract for another 2 years and decided to purchase the S7 Edge with 5GB and 150 minutes for 35,- per month. I am saving 21 euro's p.m. if I compare it to my previous iPhone 6 two year contract.

Any must have apps I need to purchase? I have been using iPhone's since the 3 so this will take some getting used too, but I felt it was time I try out something else instead of staying in Apple's restrictive ecosystem.

Nova Launcher, Moko Icon Pack, Fenix (Twitter), Google Keyboard, Solid File Explorer, MX Player (plays every video), Quickpic Classic (on xda) and Shuttle Music Player.

You will LOVE your phone with these.

Damn. That looks amazing.

That is the kind of customization that I always missed on iOS.

I waited years in the hopes of Apple opening that up but it never happened. Shame.

Thanks.
You can change almost everything.
Background of the app drawer, font size and color, no fonts at all, dark themes, bright themes, countless widgets and other stuff.

Take a look at the UI in Android Nougat with a dark theme

Let me ask you folks a question, is there a way to output games onto my TV without the use of something like Chromecast? Is there a direct cable that plugs from the S7 EDge to my TV via HDMI that will allow me to play Metal Slug 3 or whatever game using my big screen?

no.

MHL was dropped with the GS6. you need a Miracast compatible device or a Chromecast now.

Went from having zero wireless connections on the phone to having two after Christmas... Picked up a Gear Fit 2 and some Jaybird X3's, both of which I'm enjoying greatly despite the noticeable hit to battery life. Any recommendations on this front, and any experience in here with battery cases? I'd hate to lose the slimness of my current case but the idea of not having to worry about battery with both of my wireless devices connected for the day would certainly be nice.

my galaxy s7 is boot looping, on occasion, not all the time. But i was sitting here doing nothing with it and it just up and rebooted.

I've also been having problems with wifi, where it wont turn on, then it will, then it wont. Then it says its turning on but doesnt, then i get it to turn on and then the phone reboots. Was there an update recently that fucked this shit up?

Can you not do that on the new edge?

No devices appear to be able to connect to the mobile hotspot on my S7Edge, a T-Mobile model. I don't understand why because every time I tried doing this up until fairly recently, it worked totally fine. I initially thought the issue was with the other device, but even though all my computers can detect the network just fine, none of them are able to actually connect to it. Does anyone know what I might be able to do in this situation, because for a couple devices I won't have any other option for some time.

So I had this issue where my battery would drain like crazy, twice as fast or more. I had at the top of the battery usage an app called me mediaserver. I found out a lot of people with the same issue but I decided to just reformat the whole phone and SD card to factory settings. So far so good. Had anybody else had the same problem?

Why, oh why did they have to put the headphone jack on the bottom of the set? I've now inadvertently frayed the left/right channels on my second pair of earbuds because of this awkward positioning.

Disable Chrome and switch to using the Samsung Browser. Chrome is bugged on S7 devices, I had the exact same problem.

I just shutdown and boot into safe mode and back into normal boot again when mediaserver starts melting my edge down. As inoffensive as samgsung's browser is, it's really hard to ditch chrome, especially when i practically use it on every other device i own.

Why did they change system notifications to this "System UI: Contents Hidden"? Seems pretty stupid to me. Any way to turn that off?

Just saw Samsung is pushing out Android N, so hopefully Verizon gets it out by 2018!

How does have having the headphone jack at the bottom damage earbuds?

Also, just received the update for Nougat today. Normal S7 in the UK on EE network.

How well do you rate the S7 on EE.. has it worked well for you? My upgrade is coming this year (currently have LG G4) so I am considering the S7 even though I know the S8 is coming this year and may be available in time for my upgrade.

My battery has gone to shit the last month or so. Barely lasting me 5 hours at a time.

Either some apps are destroying it or my battery is just weak now. In any case, I miss replaceable batteries.

Same. For a 3000 mah battery, it's been dying super fucking quick.

It's fine when I'm around work or home or car, but when I'm off charge for any real period of time, this shit drops like crazy.

I can't wait for the update so I can drop resolution in an effort to increase battery (although I'm not sold that it will make a huge difference, still pushing the same amount of pixels...)

It has worked good for me. I was never a fan of the how Samsung use to always have a lot bloatware but they've turned down a lot of this one. I bought phone sim free and pay EE for sim only contract so not sure if EE contract s7 has extra software though. I'm someone who prefers stock android but this is pretty close. The camera is great, battery life is decent. No real complaints apart from maybe the speaker and the fact that the phone is really slippery so a case is a must (for me at least).

My cousin has the LG G5, my best mate just got the Pixel XL and I've got the S7. All great phones, really depends what you prefer and maybe your budget as well.

Check if you have the media server problem. I was super happy with my battery and all of a sudden I was having less than 6 hours too.

There are some solutions out there but I went by simply going back to factory settings and erasing everything on it. It solde the issue and I'm back to having 14 hours or so.

7.0 came out here today (Israel)

I like everything that I've seen so far.
Nice updates to the UI with better looking menus, useful updates to the phone app and the browser. Pretty sure they updated the keyboard as well? I've used the Google keyboard for a while (wasn't that happy with it tbh. I downloaded it after I saw some recommendations and didn't bother turning it off), and I forget how the stock keyboard looked exactly, but I'm liking this better than Google's even if it is exactly the same as the one before the update.

Not sure about battery life as I haven't been outside today, I'll have my test-field tomorrow or on Sunday.

Also, I'm pretty sure the fingerprint sensor works way better after this update.

Is there an easy way to block the update? After reading this:

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Bad-...-Edge-after-Android-7.0-Nougat-update_id90859

I just want to avoid the drop in battery life.

You can choose to not update it....But the drops according to other articles generally refer to the exynos not the 820. Real life usage according to reddit seems to be improved or similar.

There's also some nice things like the blue light filter built in. FYI, first thing I did was disable Samsung backup which used 20 gigs of data over the past month.

Many people are reporting high battery consumption related to chrome and mediaserver. Take a look around related to that.

FYI, GSMArena reports no increase in battery life by lowering resolution on the edge.

Edit: rekon, exynos vs 820 battery usage is significantly different. Thanks for your contribution.

well nothing fixed it and verizon replaced it so i now have a brand new galaxy s7.

Nougat got pushed on T-mobile as well. Biggest improvement is that Active Display is not mostly useless anymore since before it would only get notifications from the seldom-used Samsung apps.

Do we know GSMArena's procedures for testing the battery after an update? Do they factory reset or do they wait at least 5 days before doing their official battery test runs? Both of these matters. Whenever you factory reset your phone or upgrade, it takes Android battery life to normalize to what it should be.

Samsung also added additional options, giving users more control that would actually improve battery life more by custom settings (similar to what we've seen in Huawei phones).

I broke my screen :(

Is barely noticeable and while I haven't tried it yet I think the VR won't be much affected, it was on the corner, but it has a really long crack from the corner to almost the top, which is practically invisible, but still.

And repairing it is almost as buying a new phone, this is insane.

Actually trying to decide on the S7 Edge coming from an HTC M8. I've had this phone for almost 3 years now(in April).

Now that the S7/Edge is half off on tmobile, I think I might take the plunge.

Is there widespread battery problems with the S7 line or was it really only the Note?

just the note.... the S7 edge battery is amazing

Anyone on tmobile update to Nougat? I did with my S7 Edge and less than 8 hours later my phone became unusable. The screen went dark and when I tried to wake up the phone it would flash green for a split second and go back to black. After plugging the phone in I'd be able to turn on the screen but then the screen had display problems. Pink streaks all over the place but only in certain apps which seemed to point to a software issue.

Could be a coincidence I guess and maybe it was a hardare problem. Either way I took it into tmobile and they replaced it with a new phone. I'm going to wait awhile before I update to Nougat on this new phone.

No issues here with my S7 Edge on T-Mobile.

Girlfriend and I both picked up Edges for our moms while they were on sale for $360; what a great deal and also a reminder that I should never buy a flagship at launch again. :P (Though at the time I just wanted to get back to Samsung Pay.)
