I am so hyped for this season!

Woah wasn't expecting the blood and time skip. Still HYPE! Maybe time travel made him age slower or something?

He took over Mako for Avatar right?

Aku's voice and laugh were amazing as was Mako. I really hope Greg Baldwin manages a good a job as he did with Avatar!
Yup. Greg Baldwin was trained in voice acting by Mako before he died, so he's the best choice to carry on Mako's work as Aku.

Yeah, i'd be really suprised if they didn't get Greg to voice him. It's not going to be the same, but Greg's the closest we'd probably get to Makos Aku.
wait 50 years?! is Jack supposed to live longer or is this some time skip where he wasn't around?

I was in his 20's before right? He's 70+ now?
There's a plot reason he hasn't aged apparently. (maybe because he wasn't originally from that time in the firstplace?)
OH SHIT! Looks like they're going all in now that Samuri Jack is on Toonami. Don't remember the original cartoon ever having blood. Still worried about how tweened animation might make it look cheap...
I trust Gendy to make it look as fantastic as the original series.

can't wait. the only thing i'm dreading is having to wait a week for each episode. i'm so used to watching multiple episodes of a show at a time.

It's gonna be a fun ride. But yeah, I feel so spoiled considering when I watched the show for the first time last year I had a whole 4 seasons to enjoy without waiting.

What, a MA rating? Ehhh starting to get skeptical about this. I was hoping this would be more of the same show, and a kid 10 years from now could watch all of it without going 'woah the last season is way too scary!'.

If its just the same thing as the original but replacing robots with actual people im fine, but if the entire show gets darker and more bleak and he starts saying "damn" and stuff I'll be really disappointed

TV-MA? I feel like this is going to be the Warrior Within to the original being Sands of Time. Samurai Jack does not need to be TV-MA.

If they didn't represent most of the people and things he killed as robots that shot out sparks and weird colored "oil" then it would have gotten a much harsher rating. For example the first 3 episodes have him cutting that army of beetle robots to pieces in a fairly violent over the top manner for an extended period of time.

Do we need to see him cutting up real people?

He does cut up humans in the original series, he kills hundreds of them. Except they aren't humans because they have circuits and oil inside of them, despite it looking a lot like blood and guts but isn't of course! The show was incredibly violent and action packed, they just used the trick of making everything a non organic entity despite everything else stating otherwise. He cuts a tigerman in half one time and he's somehow a machine on the inside.

How in the world did I not know about this until now? SO looking forward to Jack coming back.

Wonder how they will handle Aku's voice.

If you noticed, the robots are portrayed as sentient beings, so Jack is killing people. Even as a kid I kind of felt sorry for them. Now that I'm older, I definitely don't have any illusions regarding Jack. He's a killer, plain and simple. A killer with a code of honor, morality, and a quest to save the world, who really only killed people who attacked him or the innocent. But still a killer. Replacing robots with flesh and blood doesn't really change what he's always been.

It's the same guy who replaced Mako as Iroh in The Last Airbender.

Aye, robots have feelings and dreams too. "Lulu. Take care of Lulu" :(

I like that the people complaining about the rating don't realize the original intention of the show. It's being a kid's show was a limitation of the times, not something to be proud of.

Not really into how Genny kinda downplays the work that Greg Baldwin will do as Aku. His work should be praised; he's the only one even semi decent at sounding like Mako.

With all respect to Baldwin, Mako really can't be replaced. He's done quite a decent job on A:TLA and Korra, but those were some big shoes to fill and it wasn't the same. I do hope that he will do a great job as Aku though.

He can't be replaced, but Baldwin should get more respect than "we got a guy". Baldwin studied voice acting under Mako ffs

Now that Samurai Jack is returning, I wonder whatever happened to Courage, the Cowardly Dog? There was that special feature nearly two years ago, then nothing.

It still feels a bit weird after more than a decade I'm finally going to see Jack take down Aku. It was just something I had never thought about for years except when I did a rewatch about 3 years ago. Still loved the show but figured that was it and it wasn't even that big a deal, so many shows go without a proper finale, let alone one that does the entire series that came before it justice. Its just how it goes with shows and cartoons especially.

Now we are so close to actually Jack defeat Aku and return to the past. I am honestly a bit surprised how excited I am. I do wonder if they're going to have him take on the portal Guardian to return to the past? Still I can't wait, its finally about to happen and I find myself caring a whole lot more after not at all for so long!

The VA for Eustace died not too long ago so that might've halted any plans they had.
But he too replaced Lionel Wilson (who died shortly after Season 2) for a couple more seasons, so they might find another one. It's not the same case as SJ, where you need a very specific voice for one of the main characters.

Besides, the 2014 special had Wallace Shawn as Eustace. While he wasn't perfect, he could simply attempt a more nasal voice to cover up the dissimilarities.

Watched a couple bits os Samurai Jack on Youtube earlier today, specifically the fights against Sam-Moo-Rhai and human Aku. Was the rest of this show this fantastic?! It's been so many years since I watched it and I was too young to remember much about it now. If the reboot is this good...

It was fantastic from beginning to end. And since a direct continuation and not a reboot you should do yourself a favor and watch all of the old series.

yeah actually tv-ma for samurai jack makes more sense to me than robots and shit.

titan shouldn't be (although they pushed the envelope a bit) when it comes back.

Heh, I like Phil LaMarr joking about Jack being the best job because he has like four lines an episode.

Is this an air date? I haven't seen all of the old episodes. Just random ones when it aired on Toonami.
There's no air date for this Season 5 yet, but it's supposed to be later this year. As for the original run's episodes, I'm not sure if Cartoon Network or Boomerang are doing reruns, but Hulu has it on their service, and the DVDs are pretty cheap.

Yes. It's a great show, not just something clouded by nostalgia.
