RIP Sly 5 on PS4. :(

I really loved the work Sanzaru did on Sly 4 so I'm very sad to hear this news.

Hopefully a Sly 5 can get made someday, somehow.
 
That's a shame. They did a good job with the last one.

I hope Sucker Punch is doing that one again, then. Would be a shame if Sony would abandon the IP (with a movie coming up, I doubt they're doing that)

I wouldn't say all hope of Sly 5 is lost.

If the Sly Cooper movie does well, we could very well see more games and more of the franchise. Sony might be working on a tie-in to the movie as well.

Personally, I would love to see a cartoon show or something on Sly Cooper. The cast is so great.

Mann, i miss Sly Cooper !

One of the best platformers around, to me it's on the same level as the Nintendo platformers. Good fun stuff !

I hope another dev is working on a Sly game. There's the movie coming out in 2017 ? if i remember correctly so i would be surprised no Sly game will come out of that...

Sucker Punch are definitely not working on a Sly game. I see them making Infamous SS 2 because the first was succesful for them.
 
That's a shame. I thought Sly 4 did quite well commercially, but I guess not if Sony isn't eager to back another. Feels bad that a talented dev like Sanzaru are stuck making shitty Sonic games.
 
Well that sucks. I'm not too bothered about more Sly Cooper specifically but I was hoping Sanzaru were working with Sony on any platformer of some kind :(
 
Don´t worry, Sly-fans !

Sony will hand the IP to the talented people at High Impact games, Idol Minds or Nstigate Games (formerly Nihilistic Software).
 
Sly 4 just felt like Sanzaru recycled ideas from the first three games, including the dreadful minigames and didn't add anything new. Can't say they'll be missed.

Another Sly game is almost guaranteed to come out with the new movie.
 
Well hopefully they can do experimental entries in other "B" series....as long as they aren't all Sonic Boom 2, 3, etc.
 
The series was never quite great after the first one. The emphasis or smaller levels, annoying mini-games, etc. for that "Ocean's Eleven" style payoff... didn't care for it personally.
 
I'm sure there are no plans as the game had to have bombed. Personally I thought it looked good on Vita, but was overall a boring "go through the motions" experience.
 
Good. Sly 4 was a subpar Sly game, especially because the story was fan-fiction. Next time you play it, pay attention to how many villains are just carbon-copies of Dimitri in Sly 2. Don't get me started on that Penelope twist either. Pathetic.

I hope Sucker Punch will make the real Sly 4 sometime :P
 
Guys... is there not a big budget Sly movie coming to theaters in 2015/2016?

If that movie is still on, the chances of us not getting new Sly game are slim to none.
 
Sad news.
Since there is a movie coming out, I do not think the franchise is dead.
Curious what developer will get the franchise...

I enjoyed 4, but I think it has a Crash 4 effect where it pretty much was too similar to the last game. That being said if Sly gets a Twinsanity type game, then it will be glorious.

As a huge Sly fan this is how I felt as well. Enjoyed elements of Sly 4, but I didn't dig the minigames and it felt too much like a mass recycle.

Still hopeful that a new game will be made at some point considering that the Sly CG movie is happening. Would be odd if there was literally no tie-in game of any kind to coincide with that unless it gets a Heavenly Sword movie style stealth release of mass bombage.

Also, note they say they are not working with playstation on a project at all. This means their next game is not for a Sony platform. I guess it could be multiplat.

Verendus' quote implies it was from Sanzaru as he said Sly 4 did well, and considering Sanzaru was the only one busy working on anything Sly.
 
I haven't finished Sly 4, but from what I've played it's clearly a great game. Would be a shame if the series dies, but one would assume that there will be something else, what with the film coming next year and all.

I want to say that maybe this is a massive troll and they'll unveil something at next month's PS Experience event, but I don't think that's the case. I hope they get the chance to make another, as they did such a great job with Thieves in Time.

What do you want them to say - they're ashamed of it? Disappointed with their own work?
 
Usually I don't put much weight in these types of comments (Sanzaru themselves weren't going to be the ones to announce a new Sly), but they're not responding to an interview or individual fans. They just decided to tell everyone. I'm surprised. Thieves in Time seemed to do well (IIRC, NPD leaks had it at least around 300k) and there's a movie coming in 2016.

I guess this also confirms that the God of War and Sly Cooper Collection Vita ports were the projects they were hiring for last year.
