So, they had Parnell, Kattan, Poehler, and Dratch waiting off-stage all night, and we still had to hear Mick Jagger's Presidential blues?

...and no final appearance from the two A-Holes?

It was a nice sketch to go out on, though.

That was pretty neat. I'm not the biggest Wiig fan (although I've warmed up to her quite a bit thanks to all of her non-SNL stuff), but the show will be a lot different without her. I'd be surprised if she's really the only one leaving, though. Still plenty of time before next season.

Jagger was great. I was so wrong — I thought he was gonna be one of those hosts that's only in 3-4 skits, but he was in almost all of them!

Sad to see another season end. The show has been so lackluster for such a long time, but it's just tradition. I've been watching it since I was a kid and probably always will.

It wasn't the best episode, certainly was a fun one. I find it amazing that some of those episodes can easily go to shit when the host isn't into it. Mick had the right cocktail of pills tonight.

I've liked her since she played Dr. Pat on Joe Schmoe.

Sooo good. I felt it was actually a really good episode, especially since I was expecting a trainwreck - hell I even enjoyed the opening sketch with Wiig's creepy handed/huge forehead character, that I usually hate.

Best skit, to me was the insurance karaoke followed by The Californians. Jagger's goofy attempt at an accent really added to it.

Jay Pharaoh in every skit for Season 38 premiere?

Jason might stay for the election, then leave at midseason.

That would make sense actually. I forgot about Weekend Update Thursdays.

Edit: Even though I think Seth Meyers has really grown into WU, I think it might be time for him to pass the torch soon. Seems like he's been there forever.

Really? I haven't laughed consistantly at Seth Meyers for the last two years now.

Classy farewell. Kristen was the only reason I watched from like, 2007-2010. She has so many characters - it will be interesting to see where the show goes from here.

Oh, and also? I love her.

I finally got around to watching tonight. I hate commercials so I don't typically watch shows live. Anyway, Jagger did a fantastic job. I was really surprised by his ability to play characters and generally be funny. I could have done without him singing with the other bands, though.

Overall it was a pretty funny episode. I don't watch every week, but the last few times I wasn't incredibly impressed. I was pumped for the Will Ferrell one but was completely let down, for example. This week was much better. And that was a nice sendoff for Wiig. I will definitely miss her on the show.

Kristin Wiig is leaving! WTF. I'm so sad. She was by far the most talented member of the cast. I hope whatever she's leaving for works out for her. I didn't realize she was on for so many years. :( The final skit was well done; at first I thought it was just a joke but then you could see all the real emotion. She has got to be one of the all-time greats in the show's entire history.

This ep was awesome from start to finish. The musical performances (save Foo Fighters) were also quite good. The Arcade Fire and Jeff Beck really helped Mick sound at least somewhat fresh for the first time in a zillion years. Foo Fighters put me to sleep as usual.

I love The Californians. Hopefully they can continue to do it next season even if Wiig is no longer a part of the cast (seriously, it sucks that she is gone).

There are rumors that Andy Samberg and Jason Sudekis are gone, too.

There was a press release a while back that said they were leaving. It's why Samberg went from being in maybe 10 sketches all year to being in nearly everything the last couple weeks and why we got Lazy Sunday 2. Sudekis is more the reliable character actor, but he'll be around for Biden so he didn't get the send off.

Should they continue with their current pattern of phasing in the eventual host as his co-host ala Fallon->Meyers or just go clean break and start with someone else?

Hoping next season is the real rise of Moynihan. He's cracked me up at nearly every moment these past few years in usually smaller parts and I'd love to see him lead multiple sketches.

Too bad that Pharaoh is likely not coming back, from what I've heard. I think he's funny and valuable but it sounds like he didn't do enough to work himself into stuff.

Yeah I'd like to see Moynihan break out next year. He usually gets a laugh out of me. I think Taran Killam will get a push next season, it seems like he's worked his way into a lot of sketches. I think Seth Meyers will probably still be doing Weekend Update. Isn't he the show's head writer? I imagine he'll be around for a while.

That sucks to hear. He's super good. Moynihan is amazing.

He plays a great Mitt Romney too. He's gotta be there for that.

Sucks that Samberg is leaving.

Jay Pharaoh was funny, but I don't think he really fit in well with the cast for some reason. His impressions are spot on, but that's about all he can do.

Also, is it just me or is Vanessa Bayer kind of underrated? She's done a really great job, especially with the J-Pop America skits.
Taran Killam has also done really well.

You guys know that all the recent weekend update people are usually the head writer on the show right?

Jay Pharaoh wasn't utilized properly, I think. They had him in there mostly for impressions, and when they gave him a sketch with an original character (as the principal of a high school making announcements on prom night), he couldn't handle it properly and started breaking at parts. Not that it wasn't funny, though.

I didn't like Taran Killam and Vanessa Bayer from the beginning, but grew to really like them. Their Japanese sketch is awesome. Bobby Moynihan is pretty awesome, too. It didn't occur to me until recently that he was in Derrick Comedy's "Bro Rape" video.

SNL will not be the same form me now. Kristin Wiig was such a huge part of the show, and best actor on the stage.

It will, because it's an institution which has a long history of finding and harvesting talent. It's very popular to fling shit at SNL, yet it has always been the foremost producer of America's favorite comic actors. Wiig is the just the most recent in a long line of funny people to leave the show.

Also pretty sure he played Turtle in the Fake Entourage video.
