What exactly do you use Google Drive for that you need so much data? I just use it for documents...
Still on Dropbox with a little under 100gb used. Primarily for project syncing. With multiple desktops/laptops, the fact that I can save and work without worrying about which machine I'm on is absolutely worth the cost to me.

Because it's for absolutely massive data. Normal consumers expect some amount of performance from a backup and probably isn't storing many terabytes. If you are, you are a power user who probably needs to go with Glacier.
There's no reason it has to be for massive data. I could back up 40 GB* of family photos, and never need to download the backup again unless there was a local hard drive failure. And when I did need to download them again, I would be fine with waiting for a few hours.

$1.99/mo for 100GB is incredible. Easy to ditch Dropbox completely now.

So, is it safe to say that Dropbox has no choice but to follow suit? This is way too cheap for them to ignore. Good ScheiĂźe.

Shit. Switching from Dropbox.
Sorry db, I love your service but I can't argue with five times the space for the same price

My 208gb is almost full of photo and home movie backups.

Google Drive has allowed for that for awhile now (public folder and hosted web apps) but maybe it's not quite as robust as what Dropbox provides, not sure. I think there's CORS support.

I last tried when they announced the feature and it was a major pain in the ass to get working and they didn't have CORS support for their API. I might try again but it was a really bad experience compared to just editing and refreshing like I do with Dropbox.

I got a free 30gb account through my school email account (my school switched to google mail a few years ago) more than enough space for me. Google is just making everything more convenient.

That 1.99 a month... You can probably pay about half of that using the credit they give you for that google rewards app.

Im trying to recall how often I get those little surveys. They give you generally anywhere from a quarter to a buck for answering questions every now and then. I might stop ignoring them if I can pay for some cloud storage with it. Assuming of course Play credit can be used to buy this storage space.

It takes seconds to answer them why would you ignore them? I mean if you are not willing to answer them just uninstall the app.

I was able to buy Pocketcast with the money I made out of those surveys.

This was probably my favorite one

I have an iPhone so no Google Rewards for me. Still, I'll probably sleep on it and decide.

Right now, biggest files I have on my Drive are music and some video files though I foresee adding more pictures to it to take advantage of the storage. I also have Drive connected to my rMBP so I might do a future HDD backup to it one day...

Once I can store my entire music collection for 2 dollars (encrypted using my own proprietary fractal-based encryption scheme, or course) then I'll jump in. I'm sure that's like 6-8 years off.

I can't seem to buy space with my Google play credits. My only options with wallet are credit cards. So no then?

How is the Google Drive desktop client? DB has been good to me and matches my workflow, so I don't see a reason to switch just yet...
