Scientists should find a way to make you sleep even longer.
I want to hibernate, yo
Clog up the butts and sleep forever ~
That's how it works, right?

I look forward to my face touching the cool side of my pillow. Its the best part of the day.
I'd prefer this than losing sleep. It could mean much longer camping trips. They should also find a way so we don't need to crap, imagine all that time wasted on the bowl you could save.
I have Ulcerative Colitis. Almost every night of the week I wake up to take at least one or two monster shits. It's awful on your sleep schedule.
Fuck that. Give me my sleep.
I would hope its at least satisfying to get it out of your system.
Yeah I'd rather live as long as I want and get sleepor they could just solve aging
or they could just solve aging
Not that this isn't a pleasant sensation in its own right... but it kinda speaks to the misery of modern stressful lives that zoning out for the day is considered the best part of the day by many.
I do agree that sleep has to be done away with. It's an evolutionary hold over that needs to be minimized. We do not need to be inactive for 8 hours a day in an unprotective stance. When gene therapy becomes real and legal, I hope this gets dealt with. Maybe 2 hours for actual sleep and 4 hours a day for rest. But 8 hours unconciouse seems like too long given where we need to go as a species?
Our body and mind love sleep, it doesn't have anything to do with stress. My cat surely isn't stressed and loooves to sleep...
Think about it.
What would you do with an extra 5-8 hours a day?
I would either be extremely rich or having the time of my life until dawn every day.
I love the feeling of sleep but god damn if it doesn't get in the way some times.
Think about the bigger picture too. How would it effect economics? government? culture?
This is what I came in here to say. Greed will always win in the end.Until companies wise up to it and start working you all 8 of those hours just to make ends meet.
I'm not sure if that's wise. It might screw up our bodies in some form if we don't get sleep.
It doesn't feel good for you after a long sleep? Waking up feels good if you had a good sleepHow do you people enjoy sleep? It doesn't feel like anything. I mean I get lying down if you're tired, that feels nice, and can lead to sleep. But actual enjoying sleeping? You're not even aware of it. You just turn off, time passes, then you're back again.
What a waste of time that was.
I hate sleep. Biggest waste of time ever.
Implying that sleep serves no purpose whatsoever.

You don't dream? I have pretty vivid dreams nightly.
Scientists have yet to figure out why we even need sleep. Still a long way.
Physical Health
Sleep plays an important role in your physical health. For example, sleep is involved in healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels. Ongoing sleep deficiency is linked to an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke.
Sleep deficiency also increases the risk of obesity. For example, one study of teenagers showed that with each hour of sleep lost, the odds of becoming obese went up. Sleep deficiency increases the risk of obesity in other age groups as well.
Sleep helps maintain a healthy balance of the hormones that make you feel hungry (ghrelin) or full (leptin). When you don't get enough sleep, your level of ghrelin goes up and your level of leptin goes down. This makes you feel hungrier than when you're well-rested.
Sleep also affects how your body reacts to insulin, the hormone that controls your blood glucose (sugar) level. Sleep deficiency results in a higher than normal blood sugar level, which may increase your risk for diabetes.
Sleep also supports healthy growth and development. Deep sleep triggers the body to release the hormone that promotes normal growth in children and teens. This hormone also boosts muscle mass and helps repair cells and tissues in children, teens, and adults. Sleep also plays a role in puberty and fertility.
Your immune system relies on sleep to stay healthy. This system defends your body against foreign or harmful substances. Ongoing sleep deficiency can change the way in which your immune system responds. For example, if you're sleep deficient, you may have trouble fighting common infections.
