God seeing those two shots just reminds me of Christmas time that year. Takes me back to my youth.

Probably already posted, but deserves to be mentioned again if that's the case. I believe Zelda 3 to be the most "timeless" looking SNES game ever made. Such great use of color and style.

I dunno how many people know about this, but Perfect Dark on the GBC was mindblowingly awesome in the graphics department. It doesn't entirely fit the bill of

Does anybody know the GB/GBC game that looked like real 3D by using various shades of dark/black and it looked really awesome? I thought it was perfect dark but I can't find it.

All I can think of is "X".

Where can I re-purchase Neverhood?

I think they released it for PS1 in Japan also.

although I haven't played the PC version more than 10 minutes (the low resolution videos made me dizzy), I loved the sequel-platform, Skullmonkeys. I gave it to my nephews, they play it all the time :)

EDIT: I think the Neverhood for PS1 is not compatible with some ps2 slims, all the PS3 and PSP (even if you compile it yourself)

that was the christmas that i got both ocarina of time and metal gear solid. it's probably my favorite experience in my video game history.

agreed. there's an authenticity and consistence about it that gave it a realistic feel for me when i was young. when i was up on death mountain, i felt vertigo.

I can't find a good screenshot, but dealing with racing games I think POD (Ubisoft, 1997) deserves a mention. Running with a 3dfx was amaizing... no weapon bullshit, only extreme velocity

Well now that Commandos has been posted I'm out of favorites.

Big ups to Warcraft 2, which somehow still has the softest looking grass in gaming, Homeworld, Simcity 2000 (duh), and Earthbound.

Name of thread: Screenshots from old games that still look great

Seriously you guys? You really think these games still look great? I've played and loved Silent Hill 1 more than any other entry in the series (yes, that includes SH2) but there's no way that i think it still looks great today. Not even blinded by nostalgia i wouldn't say that.

I can't speak for the veracity of their posts, but I can honestly say that yes, those games do still look wonderful to me.

Agreed. I don't even really like Zelda but it looks amazing.

We're not talking gameplay here... The topic is about graphics. You really find those titles wonderful from a graphical pov? Really? The resolution is so low in AitD and NFS that a single pixel is the size of New York.

I understand nostalgia, but those screenshots don't belong in this thread imo. If those are games that still look great today.... :/

Blue Stinger - 1999 (I always wanted a sequel to this. sad that one was in the making, but never eventuated :():

I remember seeing shots like this in magazines before the release of the Dreamcast and KNEW I just had to have this game, and I loved the absolute shit out of it despite it's flaws. It still looks great on the DC for a 1999 game.

Baku Baku - Sega Saturn

This game is a real gem. Beautiful to look at, and full of personality, fun as fuck too.
