It's by far the most overpraised game of all time, right up there with FFVII, OoT, and Halo.

OoT, FFVII, and SMRPG are NOT the best of their respective series, and Halo is not an example of what a shooter should be.

I agree with you about everything but SMRPG. The best Zelda is Majora's Mask (or the Oracle 2D titles), the best FF is FFV and Halo in on par with C&C Renegade.

But SMRPG is just seven shades of awesome.

Just because you have the option to fly right through a stage doesn't mean you have to.

Yeah, this is what I can never figure out with the people that don't like it. You're not forced to use it, and you can go as far or as less as you choose to. One of my favorite things to do in SMW is just mess around and keep flying forward or backwards, just doing tricks and shit.

The level design in SM3 is much more varied, the controls feel less floaty and more suited to challenging platforming, it's just a much richer game in terms of content.

I would actually say that's a negative. SMW has the most PERFECT physics in a Mario game. You can do a bunch of tricks with it not possible in other Mario games.

I never said Yoshi's Island is a Mario game, but it has more in common then the other games on the list. It should include Yoshi's Island with them, if not they shouldn't include any. Regardless it's still part of the Super Mario World series, like it or not.

True. Aside from snaking, it's practically a flawless game. But the best Mario Kart doesn't even necessarily make it onto a top-ten Mario games list. There are a LOT of amazing Mario titles.

Snaking is only an issue in online games (50cc sucks). None of the previous Mario Kart games had online anyway.

Smash and Dr. Mario shouldn't really be on that list. That's kind of like ranking Super Puzzle Fighter as a Street Fighter or Ergheiz as a Final Fantasy.

Going through them again, I'd definitely place SMW at the top, but SMB3 isn't a disgrace for being voted #1. Kind of like picking between $1,000,000 and $1,000,000.01

Nope, never. And I'm thrilled to try it as soon as possible on the Virtual Console. In fact my expectations are so high that I'll probably be completely disappointed in it, hate it, and end up ranting endlessly about it on the internet. Oh God help me.
