seattlepi.com: Wii Nov 19th and $250

i called it. $250.

come on, why would they sell it any lower when they dont have to, #1. and #2 it gives them wiggle room to lower the price over the years to continuously undercut their competitors.

you guys suck

Well; after seeing this price some people may just decide to buy one more PS2 since they probably don't have one in their second bathroom or their attic yet.

260,000 units sold last month says HI.

I love how everyone is using "For $50 I can get a X360" when that is always, always, ALWAYS, referred to here as the tard pack.

Does MS even make anymore of those, anyways?

Umm, didn't Nintendo already announce that the price would be no more than 250?

Plus, I think Nintendo knows that new consoles sell out no matter what the price, especially Nintendo ones. Plus this gives them some maneuvering room for a price drop next year.

I won't venture whether this is a good deal or not until we find out some more info., but I think the form factor of the console, WiiConnect, and the new tech controllers are some of the factors in the higher price.

Then go cancel the pre-order and use that money to buy some PS2 and DS games or something.

I agree. And really, it's not about want. It's about what the god damned thing is worth. It's not worth $250, period. I love Nintendo, but this constitutes spousal abuse. Battery is not a joke Nintendo.

That's the second thing. It's bad enough, of course, that ya know... it's coming with a game I don't want. But it's doing that at a price that's too high because it has shit power, no HD support... and hell, even what they include in system is cheap. 512MB of flash? They could have at least included a gig or some shit if they were gonna charge 250, that shit is cheap as ****.

They've shot themselves...

I wonder if the Xbox 360 core pack will get the bundle treatment too this holiday. The 360 core might not be that far off from the Nintendo Wii when you leave the checkout counter. :)

I hate checking two threads.

Why is this one still open? Can't we close it.

Ami, stop letting people steal your thunder.

$250 makes the system look more powerful than it is.
$250 will allow Nintendo to maximize their profits on the system.
$250 is a ****ing garbage price and I will not be buying one, regardless of some shitty pack in full of arm-swinging sports fun.

It's a smart business move, but then again so are microtransactions and gamers get raped on those, too.

At least this industry is consistent in its ability to disappoint.

tsk tsk tsk...

Two nintendo fanboys

doubtful.

normal people will see $250 as cheap.

and compared to the othre systems, it is.

people see 360 as $400 (no one wants the core pack, they may as well stop it all together) and PS3 is $600.

people can bitch all they want about being ripped off, but they COULDN'T have launched it lower than $200 because it would have been looked at as too weak. the system is $200. now you just are forced to buy a game for it.

don't want the game? go trade it in after you buy a Wii and get something else.

i don't see at all how anyone can bitch about $250. okay, you buy ONE less game this year if you get a Wii. chill ouuuuut

Mario officially 2007 bound? Shit.

Wii price? Typical Nintendo. Let's just hope the console includes two Wiimotes, free VC downloads, and that Wii Sports is more than the 4 craptastic minigames detailed in the piece.

This launch is looking really similar to GC...

-No major-major 1st party launch (no Zelda/Mario)
-launch 3 days after nearest competition (PS3) vs. XB
-During Thanksgiving week (onaji w/ GC)
-First major title (Zelda) not released until Dec. (onaji but w/ SSBmelee for GC)
-multi-regional launch may lead to major U.S. post-Chrissmas shortages (just like teh cube).

I'm not as optimistic as I was now...

Spec wise this is worse than the tard pack. This is like the Bob Jones University Pack

with all the complaing youwill still buy it, like those who complained over the 360, I am glad the have two controller s and wii sports packed in . it a good thing

wow, nintendo are the new greedy.

i'ma be mad broke this holiday with such expensive console prices. ahh well, tis the life of an early adopter.

I'm pretty sure my family can look up news/weather/use the Internet/look at photos on a thing called a computer.

We want Wii to play games, and be out ealier than Nov 19 damn it. :(

people will buy this regardless of the 50+ bucks.
people will buy the different color Wii that comes out 4+ months later.
and people will buy the different color Wii that comes 4+ months after that one.

I'm still down for the cause. $250 is worth it if the launch games play well. If it's like the NDS launch, then I might wait.

I will most likely get it if I can't get a PS3 during November. $250 doesn't make a difference for me, but I can definitely see how it can be perceived as a really bad move, because of how it compares to the Xbox 360 (price/value ratio.)

Wait, I'm not reading this whole ****ing thread, but it comes with 512mb of flash memory?

You get a free bunch of games and something to save shit on with the Wii. What do you get with the tard pack; pretty pictures and a controller from 1997?

from a graphics stand point sure, but wii gives you built in storage(and other storage options), built in wireless, a wireless controller, internet browsing, picture viewing..vc, and a free game.

not to mention the same standard def experience.

WHEN did they say they have two controllers packed in?

100% chance you won't be able to trade it in - pack-in games have a little nifty label on the cover that says "Not for Resale"

Yes, 512mb of flash memory to save game files and download VC games too etc. This was announced ages ago

zelda has not been ****ing delayed

Wow :)

Well, I believe Zelda is still a launch title and that should be revealed at the US conference. I'd be shocked if it wasn't and perhaps that the real reason for the Nov. 19 release date? I think they needed the extra time to get Zelda polished off.

The $249 price point is higher than I anticipated. I thought $199, but was going to buy Wii Sports anyway, so it's not too bad. I hope they throw in a second controller to make the price that much sweeter.

Looking forward to all of the other announcements!

Has the word "onaji" crept into the English language?

What? You didn't know? this is part of their brilliant strategy for downloadable content via the VC, give you less space than a cd to store your stuff.
Even better plan when you can get 2gigs of flash for like $80

By the way, Wii Sports likely doesn't cost Nintendo the value of $50 of a traditional game on top of the package price.

It may be a basic game that cost as much to develop as a $20-30 dollar game. Nintendo likely designed the game to showcase the Wii incredibly well, yet cost very little to develop, and thus not impact the package price much. No Wii Sports would likely not get the package anywhere close to $199.
