I liked Yakuza 4, I regret not playing more of it before giving the PS3 to my father.
I'll definitely pick these up if they come out in the US.

I love Yakuza but yes I'd prefer for that team to make something different by now.I would like to see Nagoshi's team to focus on new games instead and bring improvements to the Yakuza formula (like Y6 already seems to be doing).Remakes take too much time and money.
But if they will be just remasters and not remakes, then yeah do it.
Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for Shenmue 1 & 2 HD.

They said "so many games, so little time" again a couple months ago.Correct me if I'm wrong, but they haven't really announced any PC games since that tweet have they?
Besides the new Sonic games.

I wouldn't say it's half assed. They remade the main game in 0s engine, added a whole ton of new content/side stories as well as adding/extending story scenes. It's he best remake to a game I've ever played, bar the resident evil remake.
Plus the controls and combat have been improved so much thanks to using the newer engine, and being 60fps only helps it further with the combat, as it's so much smoother now that I can never play the original again, kiwami destroys it in every way (Majima should learn to give kiryu some alone time though, he's practically around every corner of kamuracho spoiling for a fight).
As for the remakes, I think kiwami 2 will happen within the next 2 years, with 3-5 then getting 1080p/60 fps ports in japan with better texturing and slightly better aa. I'd love them to do Kenzan, and I guess Of The End as well just to be complete. And yeah, don't expect them released outside of Japan any time soon!
See, you just said you can never play the original again, which proves my point about Kiwami being a bad way to start the series. Imagine going from that straight to Yakuza 2 or 3. It would feel like a total downgrade no matter what, unless they remade every game in the series, which is just not viable. Even if they just upgraded the graphics of the ps3 games, the gameplay would still be a step down.
which is just not viable.
Relevant for almost every Japanese game thread these days on GAF - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=155405110&postcount=23
Most probably I'm missing something obvious, why isn't Yakuza 1 included?
That statement is confusing as it references both the HD collection of 1&2 as well as Kiwami. So are they talking actual remakes (Kiwami) or just remasters?
I guess this is how they're getting away with Yakuza 6 being Kiryu's last stint as protagonist; they're recycling his last 5 adventures lol.
PS4 asia region expansion doing wonders. Imagine how well Knack's sold!Accroding to the interview, we all have Chinese market to thank if this come true.
i preferred the gif without the sega logo. anyone have that still?
Then why were remasters brought up in the article when they're a very different beast to remakes?
Definitely remotely close. I loved the first couple to death but gave up on this series because of how samey they are. With 7 games and 5 spinoffs in 12 years Ryu Ga Gotoku is the Japanese Assassin's Creed.
Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for Shenmue 1 & 2 HD.
