It was very worrying to hear months ago that bringing Phantasy Star Online 2 to western shelves was put on the back burner but Sega’s twitter post in response to a fan question, negates the foul cry with a confirmation that Phantasy Star Online 2 is only “delayed” and is still being worked on for a western release.

It's now three episodes out of date, on top of being delayed. It's likely not happening, and if it did ever happen, it'd suck so bad not many would stick with it over the Japanese version. :\

Does the English translation patch for the game translate any of the story? Shame Sega has no confidence for this game in the West.

Nevermind the fan translation. The game has already been fully translated into English by Sega for its release in Southeast Asia. Only thing stopping them from giving it to us in North America is setting up servers for us to play on.

God help us if we get the awful SEA translation in its entirety

But that's not by Sega, it's completely by a separate company.

Ugh this would be perfect for my Vita. No point worrying over something that won't happen though.

please hurry up with this cashcow so we can focus on the dozen of yakuza games that need to be localized & then bomb afterwards sega, i need this

I recently ordered the Vita version of this, so it bodes well for localization. Hatsune Miku, Akiba's Trip, and Senran Kagura all got picked up for domestic release almost immediately after I received my Japanese copies.

I hope your horrible luck works out for the rest of us!

Id love to see that happening on WiiU.

Anyone played it already on PC or Vita? Is it as good as the first PSO?

It's F2P though so that throws a wrench in your theory

Better in some ways but worse in others. The shift in focus to be more character action and the game being built around F2P makes for a different experience, at the very least.

I'm sorry if this sounds bitter but after their incompetence (or maybe it was intended?) that stops me from playing with my character on my JP account I fail to care SEGA...

Ive been playing the PC version, though I only played PSU before this.

It's alright, the lack of actual places to explore makes it a bit boring since its just a lobby + instances. But the rest of the game is fun.

Weird that sega is holding out this game releasing in the west.
It's already available in english for asean countries FFS.

I played the JP version back when it was in beta and it captured the spirit of the original PSO very well with a few modernization's.

If you liked the original there's a good chance you'll enjoy PSO2.

Never played PSU myself, but the way you described it sound like the original PSO Ep 1 & 2 on gamecube. i think its a plus. PSO was like that. A lobby like area where you could buy gear, spells, and get quest, and zone into an instance to do the quest.

Hmmm please sega....dont tease us up for nothing.

Cool. Thanks for this info. Now hoping for a PC or Wii U release :)

Played the beta and enjoyed it enough to know that I would love a western release. Hope it comes out some day...
