Sega Publishing sale on XBL

Also, OP, why doesn't Crazy Taxi XBLA have any soul? Because it doesn't play "All I Want" on a continuous loop? It's the same game man, put the track on as a custom soundtrack if it detracts from your enjoyment that much!

Isn't it enough that it uses the inferior Crazy Taxi 2 physics, like all the other post-Dreamcast ports? Physics are pretty important, for a driving game! Maybe not as important as licensed music and in-game advertising, but it's close...

I'm just kidding. I really do think most gamers (and even some reviewers) can tell when a game doesn't "feel" right, they just might have trouble explicating the reasons why. No one ends up latching on to irrelevant presentational issues to justify what they're terrified might be "baseless" or "irrational" dislike when they're ACTUALLY HAVING FUN. See: complaints about how much fictional violence against fake men and women is present in some of today's most boring, barely-interactive cinematic shooters.

Does Jet Set Radio XBLA have anything over the Dreamcast version? I literally *just* bought it on DC a few days ago and 100%ed it a matter of hours ago, but I liked it so much I might double-dip if there's worthwhile new content.

How's Daytona on XBLA?
Absolutely perfect port, unless you're looking for local multiplayer (Live/PSN only, no split-screen, no LAN IIRC). Some cool bonus modes too.

Debating buying Space Channel 5...is it any good?

Edit: Also isn't there an extra mode unlocked if you buy all the costume packs in VF5?

might dip for guardian heroes and VF. not even a big VF fan, but I'm planning on turning my xbox into an arcade cab within the next year, since I have so many shmups, brawlers and fighters on it.

I bought the VF5 item packs yesterday since I already had the main game...good deal.

I'm sooo tempted to pick up Condemned, but I already picked the PC version during a sale, though it doesn't suppose a gamepad.

Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is a very good fighting game and it is a steal for $5. Final Showdown is the most recent revision of the "5 Series". It was released in Japanese arcades in 2010, and features 2 characters which weren't in vanilla 5: French karate guy Jean Kujo and sumo wrestler Taka-Arashi.

If you're interested in fighting games but are inexperienced with them, VF5FS offers a good window into the genre for these reasons:
  • It's only got 3 buttons, and one of them is block!
  • It has a good tutorial which plainly states the game's mechanics.
  • The netcode is very solid and there is usually a decent pool of players around on XBL. There are many new players in Ranked RIGHT NOW because of this sale.

Those already familiar with fighting games on a competitive level should appreciate VF5FS as it offers a weighted emphasis on understanding your opponent's habits and tendencies. A good read can lead to combos that can exceed 80% of your opponent's life depending on the situation. It is very fast paced, and is more demanding of observation and reaction than it is execution.

If you want to see what high-level VF looks like, here are the Grand Finals of SEGA Cup, which took place on April 20th, 2013 in Walnut, CA:

How's Daytona on XBLA?

In my opinion it's the best version of Daytona on any format.

Obviously playing it on your couch with a controller is different to playing in the arcade, but it looks absolutely jaw-dropping. They really did an amazing job with it.

just gonna quote my post from the XBLA thread:

stay away from buying the genesis Sonic games on XBLA, terrible emulation. I just bought all of them on a whim since they're like 2 dollars each, and the sound emulation is really off.. if you don't care about 100% sound emulation then pick it up anyways, the gameplay seems fine as far as I can tell.

I did buy Guardian Heroes too, I can't wait to play that game in English and online. I just have the Sega Saturn import..

Looks great in HD and you can use the right analogue stick to control the camera. Other than that no. Oh, and two songs are missing. One of them, quite good! (Yappie Feet).

Thanks for this. Never played any of the VF games so I'll probably pick this up.

Probably gonna also grab NiGHTS and Guardian Heroes. Good price on Daytona, but I already have it.

I bought Sonic Adventure 2 on sale not even knowing about this sale. Like, I bought it because I wanted to do another SA2 playthrough and saw it was only 400 points and wondered why.

I picked up Guardian Heroes, now looking at a few others.

Has anyone played this Nights port? I played a bit of it on the Saturn, but never made it too far.

Done deal

Bought Sonic Generations and Guardian Heroes.

I'm considering Renegade Ops...what kind of game is it? Is it similar to Jackal on NES/Arcade, by any chance?

Snagged Sonic 1, 3, & Knuckles(still miffed that 3 & Knuckles weren't a combo), Sonic Adventure 1+DX & 2, Generations, and NiGHTS.

I hope Generations is as good as I've heard. I bought VF5 like just before Final Showdown was announced for the 360, then I recently get Final Showdown and now it's down to $5. lulz

Time to buy some costumes! :P

Gonna pick up Space channel 5, The Cave, Sonic Adventure 2, Renegade Ops.

Not sure if I wanna pick up Guardian Heroes and Sega Bass, only because I want to save some points to get Spelunky next week.

I got Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II on Tuesday. I might get the first episode, too, just to get the Metal Sonic episode, even though I already own the first one on Wii.

I already own pretty much everything else in the sale, in some way (physical, or on other consoles), so that'll probably be it for me...though I'm tempted to also get the Director's Cut DLC for Sonic Adventure, which I got through the Dreamcast Collection (which I got for Space Channel 5: Part II, I already own the rest on Dreamcast), but I haven't decided yet.

Might get Hard Corps, it's good right? Don't understand what you mean by the demo and the credits though.

It's great! Go get it if you ever liked Contra or anything like it (like Gunstar Heroes).

Cool, I love the OST. When do these promos end?

Nights Into Dreams is garbage. What the hell was wrong with Sega and why is this on XBLA?

Anyone here like it? Please plead your case. I'd LOVE to hear it.

Man I just saw the Sonic the Hedgehog Master Collection on PSN for $30....and now I see you can get the same games, plus Sonic 3 & Knuckles, for $3 cheaper....why you doin' this to me Sony

Arcadey score-attack game with great music & art direction.

Literally the best type of game.

Buying Guardian Heroes for sure. I still have 1000 space bucks left from the 5$ code deal. I think I might get DR2 case west with the remaining 800.
