From my understanding, she started the Sonic thing in part to get attention. Now she claims she's famous and is doing fake photoshoots and interviews for publicity. :lol :lol

Edit: OMG you must click the dapshow interview link on her main page. I don't even know what to say. NSFW pic near the bottom of the interview.

Sonic and Alix

You both run side by side.
While Sonic's fist and eggman collide.
You run aside cheering him on.
Damn, you know the boss is gone.
Saving the Animals and Chaos.
*finger snap* so fast, i dont know how.
I guess your bond,
is just so strong.
That you'd go through every level together
as Team Sonalix, as duo not trio.

Maybe they think only the shitty games sell and that an actually good game wouldn't?

Third party developers can't be that confused....

I dunno about that. From what I hear last months Official X-Box magazine was supposed to have some info, but it either was just a rumor or got delayed. I have an odd feeling the next months issue might have something. Could be wrong.

If we are lucky....

That's horrible. Ever more so with the terrible color scheme. Blue on black!?! How can you even read like that? Maybe it helps.

So this thread motivated me to purchase for the first time a 3d sonic game. I've only ever played a small bit of Adventure 2 and hated it. I played the unleashed demo and it wasn't bad so I found it for $15. Ill be honest, its really not that bad. Granted I've not yet played a werehog stage, and the story is kiddish but I like the day stages so far.

The terribleness of the 3D Sonics is overblown. Adventure, Adventure 2, Heroes, Secret Rings, and Unleashed all have merits that make them playable and, yes, even enjoyable.

I never really had an interest in a sonic game after 3/S&K, but the demo of Unleashed sold me. I honestly would love another 2d one though on a console. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Eh, everyone liked Adventure/2, nobody liked Unleashed. :lol

I didn't like Adventure 2 that much, felt abit of a downgrade after Adventure 1. Except for the Chao Garden which was much better.

I believe that the saddest thing about the 3D Sonic games is just how incapable Sonic Team is of fixing their games' flaws while creating new iterations. The fact that we've had so many 3D Sonics and that there are still huge issues with the camera, controls, and glitches in general is nigh unforgivable. The biggest issues with Secret Rings and Sonic Heroes in particular (the two best 3D iterations, in my opinion), were nothing more than lacks in polish, for the most part. If Sega/Sonic Team could just learn to keep their games in the cooker until certain issues are ironed out, their games would be better.

I haven't played a sonic game since Sonic Adventure 2 on gamecube. Which newer ones should I check out?

All of the handhelds.
Sonic Advance 1-3 and Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure.

Other than that, Unleashed (360 version) is pretty much the only thing worth playing.

Heroes is a buggy mess (great idea, terrible gameplay, cheap deaths galore, etc) with terrible voiceovers, Shadow the Hedgehog shouldn't exist, and Secret Rings goes anywhere from decent to terrible and frequently switches back and forth about how annoying it wants to be.

I haven't played Sonic and the Black Knight, and according to my brother who has the Wii version of Unleashed, it's much worse than the 360 version.

As for Sonic Riders, I have the Gamecube version, and surprisingly, I thoroughly enjoy it. It totally destroys your control sticks (requires you to spin them as fast as you can in every track) and doesn't tell you how to play, but once you figure out what to do, the game is actually pretty fun.

I haven't played Riders: Zero Gravity though, so I don't know about that one.

Am I missing anything?

I'm still trying to figure out how it went from baby pictures of Shadow, back to the Sonic Passion fan page. It happens like every 10 pages or so :lol

That art is from a Sonic the Hedgehog choose your own adventure, which was actually pretty cool.

And I see it's back to 3D game discussion, nice ;P

Secret Rings has its flaws, but I thought it was REALLY fun overall. Spent thirteen hours with that game, which is quite a bit longer than I've spent with any other Sonic title.

Some people aren't able to get by the occasional control problems, but really, I recommend the game not just because of my love for it, but because the price of admission is so low. You can find it for $20 or even less, depending on the retailer. Hell, that time I found Rush Adventure for $13, Secret Rings was on sale for the same price.

Sonic Adventure 2 was everything good about Sonic Adventure minus everything bad about Sonic Adventure. It had some annoyances, but it's a masterpiece next to Sonic Adventure.

ITT

everything good about Sonic Adventure = genericness, dumb glitches and camera, alternative playstyles that suck, sometimes narrow level design

everything bad about Sonic Adventure = actual platforming, puzzle solving, alternate routes, other characters being built off of Sonic's game, being a good game

Sonic Adventure 2 was actually a well made game without annoying glitches. Unlike Sonic Adventure, which was pretty much unfinished. No point in playing "open" level designs with "platforming" (which SA2 did much better) when they are buggy enough to actually mess you up from a framerate hitch or bad collision detection or bad auto-aim.

SA2 had more linear levels, but they were much more playable and fun. Also, having other characters built on Sonic's engine is a disservice to the characters. They just felt like an inferior version of Sonic.

Also, it had a better story and better music, as well as actual 60 fps graphics.

Did you play Sonic Adventure or Sonic Adventure DX?

I think Sonic Adventure 2 is the best 3D Sonic game.

And I think Unleashed is easily one of the better ones, in many ways it has the best gameplay of any of the SA games. The wolf thing was annoying but the Sonic stuff is the best 3D Sonic gameplay. I only wish they incorporated a few things from SA2's scoring system like the hidden tricks you can do to up your score and the enemy score multiplier playing a large part.

Both.
I am a Sonic fan.
Granted, I liked the original a bit more than DX. But the original was still very buggy.

SA2 was poop. Not only was it a mediocre Sonic game, it took large steps in the wrong direction. Having replayed SA1(DC) recently, I can honestly say that it is a good game. Characters, aside from Big, were not annoying as hell to play as, and either played somewhat like Sonic or had a short intersecting story. The first few SA1 Sonic levels are actually quite good and in my opinion, the best levels in any 3D Sonic.

Sorry but when I bought Sonic Adventure 2 I didn't realise there was a mistake in the name since it was clearly meant to be Sometimes you play as Sonic but mostly its these piss poor hunting and shooting stages Adventure.

I didn't like Knuckles' levels in SA I sure as hell didn't apprectiate them doubling the amount and making the stages bigger so it took forever to find the things. Tails' levels in SA were fun because they were pretty much exactly like Sonic's but shorter but in SA2 they're really slow really long versions of Gamma's stages in SA. Also terrible vocal tracks and grinding.

Ok so yea, Amy's stages in SA were appaling but there was only 3 and you never had to play them unless you was desperate for some dull boss fight. I didn't even hate Big the Cat's levels, annoying character sure, but the fishing minigame was pretty solid and was a fun break from the main game. Hell I didn't hate it when I fished in Zelda either. And the best part, the best part is that not once do you have to play them to play all of Sonic's levels.

Interesting.

But City Escape was a lot cooler than Emerald Coast. And Metal Harbor to Windy Valley.

I don't understand why you guys hate the other characters. They balanced them out, but they also made them funner. It was no longer just an inferior version of Sonic, but a good version of something else.

The story was much improved as well because you saw it together instead of segmented parts. Also, the voices actually got better in SA2 (not saying much). The grinding was also good in SA2 before it was ruined in later games.

Well... no.

The Sonic and Shadow stages in SA2 were certainly better than the Sonic stages in SA. More polish, better gameplay, etc.

But playing as the other characters was booooooooooring.

If they can just distill 3D Sonic to the essence of the Sonic stages in SA2, it will be a good game. But it needs time and polish. That's something Sonic Team has forgotten this past decade or so. You need time to polish the game to make it truly great.

This is a joke, right? SA2's story ranks in badness with Sonic 2006 and Shadow the Hedgehog.

I am not saying it was good, but that it was better. This time they actually tried to tell an interesting and deeper story that is unlike what you are used from a mascot game.

The two best 3d sonic stages imo

Emerald Coast and Rooftop Run

I loved when the glass floor broken and Sonic free-falled to the ground and started running at the side of the building. It was a huge WOW moment there.

you're actually saying the shitty friends were FUN? they weren't.

City Escape still had awful music that kind of makes the stage hard to play. plus, Windy Valley is my favorite 3D sonic game stage without question, as it is pretty much the only 3D sonic stage that really feels like a classic sonic stage.

why anyone would actively support the company using resources, resources that could better the game itself, so it can tell some stupid convoluted story is really mind-boggling.

But it wasn't though in Sonic Adventure Gamma's stages were pretty decent because they were rather short and you had to keep moving and shooting as you had a time limit, Knuckles' stages were... well they were still awful but they were at least more tolerable because they ended pretty quickly. SA2 just made these stage types longer than they needed to be so that any fun from them quickly vanished halfway through the level.

Oh I guess that driving segment was pretty naff aswell.

Sonic Adventure 1 was cool in the fact that it was the LAST close to classic Sonic style 3d game to be made. Somewhat classic sounding tracks, enjoyable gameplay with other characters yet not forced to play as them, no over reliance on grinding rails / on rails uncontrolled action, and ok platforming areas...not to mention a casino stage.

City Escape's music was great, what are you talking about? It fit the stage perfectly and was really great introduction to the new Sonic. Classic Sonic must not translate well to 3D, because Wind Valley, although a great concept, was pretty much on-rails mixed with enviromental features.

And yes, the friend stages were very fun, especially Knuckles's space level and Tails attack in the ARK.

Also, writers and voice actors don't lend themselves to make a more polished gameplay engine. Which is one of SA2's high points, the engine.
