Seiken Densetsu 3 20th anniversary

Just copying from r/NintendoSwitch, this is where you can go to to contact Square Enix about Secret of Mana 2:

Also from the same post, I'd suggest taking these tips:

There's also this petition here if you want things to get rolling:

let's make it happen.

My issue with SSD3 is that its really hard as a first time player to pick who should be your lead character and his two party members from the six both for story purposes and gameplay. This is compounded when the classes split latter in the game and knowing what is a good balance of classes requires a lot of trial and error. Multiplayer compounds this issue especially if someone picked a mage focused character since like secret of mana spells stop time and interrupt the flow of combat.

Additionally no matter how fugly the sd1 mobile remake looks, it still plays well and feels like an update of the classic game. Sword of mana may look better, but it plays worse and the changes make the game bloated with filler and pointless sub systems. Only positive som had was being able to play as the female lead instead of sumo.

Graphics over gameplay. The combat was atrocious. You are only given the illusion of control. You don't actually control anything in combat most of the time.

The combat was poor, yes (I presume it was something to do with hitbox detection? I was never sure whether I was actually attacking anyone except when I used spells, but then I mained Angela in my playthrough), but the "gameplay" wasn't all bad. There were lots of things to do, it was easy to move around etc.

Plus although admittedly the game is beautiful, it also had a surprisingly good storyline for an ARPG.

It's been a very long time since I played it, but yeah, I remember being disappointed in the combat, especially the movement. Secret of Mana made no distinction between exploration and combat: your characters controlled the same, played the same, moved the same, at the same speed. In Seiken 3, as soon as an enemy was close enough, you switched to combat mode, where your character sloooowly inch towards the enemies, and you can't run.

The other thing I was disappointed in was when I chose to go necromancer with one of my characters, thinking the zombie summoning spell would allow me to have minions on the battlefield. Nope: it's just a spell like any other, with a canned animation. My necromancer was effectively a much less powerful version of Angela. Her elemental magic was cooler anyway.

Oh and the music wasn't as good as SoM's. Less memorable, more muffled. However, it had this fantastic piece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhW8jNscYqA

Other than that, I really liked it back in the day. I even printed out an entire guide off of GameFAQs - I think. So many pages. I would keep them preciously in a drawer, even after I completed the game. It was very useful to know what jobs to choose for each character. Don't know if I would stil like the game today.

Did my part on social media.
