Seinfeld 9/11 spec script - "The Twin Towers"

It's good to be able to compare the clean 40 minute format due to the known locations with the far more extensive style of a screenplay. Or is this a teleplay?

It does fit exactly with the show though, even if it wasn't on the air then.

I thought it was a little heavy on fan service -- most episodes of Seinfeld don't feature Steinbrenner, George's parents, Willhelm, Uncle Leo, Newman, Rebecca De Mornay, and Jackie Chiles all in the span of 22 minutes. It feels a little like the first Futurama movie where the writers felt in necessary to hit on every popular character and plotline within a short timespan.

But beyond that, I think it's a great emulation of Seinfeld. George's lying about being a 9/11 survivor is spot-on, even if it's a bit more politically incorrect and dark than the show ever was. Wasn't one of the cast members on The League actually guilty of lying about being in the Twin Towers?

incredible work
george pretending to be a hero
elaine trying to break up with an annoying boyfriend who almost died
kramer being the cause for this by accident
Jerry fighting with the idea that the dust is people
everything is so perfect

Yes. Or maybe he's lying about lying about being in the Twin Towers. Sadly we will never know.

You forgot the "chekov's gun" anthrax envelope, and Kramer accidentally starting the 9/11 truther movement.

Wow, that was actually pretty good. I can totally picture all the characters acting the way they do.

- Jerry letting the dust bother him to a ridiculous degree
- George taking advantage of getting mistakenly identified as a 9/11 hero
- Kramer being more bothered by losing his box cutters than for unwittingly helping initiate the worst American based tragedy since Pearl Harbor.
- Elaine initially being relieved that the guy she was seeing that she didn't really care for died in the attacks.

Best part was in the beginning with Kramer, by far.

"Hey, you know my friend, Mo Atta?"

I was finished after that. So good.

It's got the vibe about right, it hit many if the marks of the theme and the way the episode escalates towards its conclusion is reminiscent of some of the best parts of season 4-6...

But it wasn't very good. Neither dark (though there is a limit to how dark a prime time general audience rated TV episode can be) nor particularly clever. But hey, it wouldn't take too much polishing to get up to speed.

I guess my misgivings with it are more to do with the topic, rather than anything else. Seinfeld and Curb were always say their best dealing in the minutiae of day to day living, this topic not so much.

I would say 90% of that is pitch perfect. The overall plot and key jokes were solid. Some of the dialogue is a tad too dark especially from Jerry and Elaine.

Still a great read and i literally pictured everything in my head. Great job.

I am obessessed with seinfeld but wasn't feeling this. The plotlines and premise were great and nailed what seinfeld would do, but some of the dialogue just seemed like an immitation. Even though that's exactly what it is.

Some of it is spot on though.

I love how Kramer is both the comic relief and the most shitty character of the series.
