Show had such massive potential but the crude art style just made it so unappealing to me.

This is the first time I've heard someone hating on dat Genndy Tartakovsky style. It's some of the best Star Wars stuff I've seen especially because of the top-notch action choreography and cinematography, and I don't care for that franchise. It's the best thing related to the prequel stuff (kinda like Animatrix to Matrix sequels).

I find Genny Tartovsky animation overrated myself. The shows tend to have cool ideas but I usually found the fight scenes often repetitive in how they are animated and I dislike the wrinkled, stretched look.

Also, even the "good" Arrow .gifs in this thread seem... off. The one that features Green Arrow in particular has slow and lazy movement.

If you guys are interested in any of the shows posted do a play by play LTTP thread if you can. I always love seeing newcomers reactions as they go through the episodes ;)

If his stuff is overrated, list a dozen cartoons (animes excluded) with better fight scenes. I would love to see a movie with his level of choreography. His stuff is up there and even better than some animes that get to have much bigger budgets.

I've never understood fire-bending. When I was first watching Avatar, they seemed to need Fire around to bend it. Same as water and earth. Then later on in the series, they seemed to be able to just shoot from their groins pretty much. Did I miss something?

Fire benders could always bend fire without needing external fire being present. In fact Zuko and Iroh do it in the pilot and second episode of the series. The idea is that they harness the energy within and release that energy out as fire (hence why it comes from the chest area first). Aang only needed fire to be present because he was a beginner. I guess when you first start out it's not easy to do so having fire externally present helps you learn how to bend it.

In terms of logically explaining it, you really can't. It based off ancient mythology and is along the lines of chi energy. But it's really just magic in a fictional sense (in terms of how the fire is created with the energy leaving the body).
