As a fan from the 90s who really loved their 2D art, something closer to the latest Guilty Gear would've been my dream SF look. C'est la vie.

That HUD looks cheap and tacky.

The character designs though, it's not that they're amazing and the ones in the game are bad - but they always seem to scale back on their ideas and play it safe. I don't think the world will end if Ryu gets a redesign, look at all straight boys creaming their pants over his stick-on beard ffs.
