Shadow of the Beast on PS4 Includes the Amiga Original

Can someone explain why was this game such a big deal back in the day?

It had great graphics and music. Unfortunately it played and controlled like shit. it was pretty divisive, even at the time. The series wasn't good at all until the third title.

I'm still curious to see how the new one plays out.

Dark Souls is the Shadow of the Beast of the 3rd person genre.

What? Dark souls is challenging/fun because every decision comes with some risk, but if you die, it's because you chose poorly. SotB was challenging because it controlled like shit and you could very easily get stuck and have to restart.

Nothing has changed so. It is a faithful reboot

Shadow of the Beast might not be exactly what true fans were expecting, especially with a few strange gameplay and narrative choices, but there's still something here for everyone. It's short, but it's only £11.99 and there's plenty of replayability here - not to mention it's two games for the price of one.

We just wonder whether it'll appeal to new fans at all when there are better brawlers out there already.

Overall, Shadow of the Beast still holds that classic platformer feel and style with linear paths, standard musical tones and tunes, and a lot of blood spilled all around. If you enjoy platforming as much as I do, you should get a kick out of this game, especially if you enjoyed the original.

Because people with an Amiga, like myself, could show off how awesome games could look on the hardware.
Never mind that it was a bad game.

I remember showing off the first few screens, but I rarely got any further. SOTB and SOTB2 are easily two of the hardest games I ever played.

I could never tell if they were good games I was bad at, or just bad, confusing games.

That's really not true. It didn't play like a typical beat-em-up, but more like a rhythm game. Even if you hated gameplay, I don't know how you can say it didn't control really well. Controls were super responsive actually. That said, I preferred the 3rd game by far too, loved the puzzles they had in it - still some of the best of its kind.

The pre-order theme is amazing, so if the game can match that I should be good. I loved the Amiga series, flawed as it was, so this should make me pretty happy. Can't wait for unlock tonight!! Reviews be damned!!

Not a full review but still an impression:

Does anyone know how can we play the original Amiga game? Still no sign here. Is it going to be unlocked around midnight?

Dude, I don't think I'm going to have time to do this OT. Did you want to take it?

NOW I see that goddamn message! It's almost 9 pm here and I have to work tomorrow!
Nope, I can't take that job NOW. You should have messaged me yesterday, when I still had time. Also, you didn't send a DM. I might have seen that sooner.
