Shadowrun: Hong Kong confirmed for August 20th release

Really need to get to Dragonfall once I finish up PoE. Returns was so-so, but the potential was there. I've heard nothing but great things about Dragonfall.

Wow this and Satellite Reign within a week of each. Cyberpunk August.

I'm really looking forward to this. Dragonfall was amazing and one of my favourite games I played last year.

If they can improve on Dragonfall as much as they did from Returns, this could be pretty great.

Great news. After playing through Dragonfall this was the the most no brainer kickstarter pledge I made. HS handled the whole thing like pros.

It only feels like yesterday that the Kickstarter wrapped up! I'm usually really bad at starting games when I get them, but I'm curious enough about the setting and the new features that I may just play Hong Kong as soon as it releases. If this game lives up to the expectations, Harebrained may well be the best developer at using Kickstarter: a short time frame between announcement date to Kickstarter campaign to delivering the game quickly and on time. Their project management puts just about everyone else to shame.

Damn I seriously need to play the other games! I started playing for about 10 minutes and haven't since, but still backed the Kickstarter because I know it's something I'll love. Might get stuck in this weekend.

Is it best to play Shadowrun base then the follow up?
Shadowrun Returns and Dragonfall Director's Cut are separate games that only have an overarching world in common. Their plots have nothing to do with one another so you can just play whatever you want. Bear in mind though that Dragonfall is widely considered to be the better game so Returns might be a bit disappointing if you play it second.

Hmm, looks good. I need to play Shadowrun Returns and Dragonfall DC. Do they feature in sales a lot?
They will probably go on sale in order to publicize the release of Hong Kong.

Still need to run through Dragonfall. I was so let down by the original campaign that I haven't bothered yet.

Visually, this one looks pretty fantastic.

Got the email this morning, so happy I backed this and such a well handled kickstarter. I need to finish Dragonfall, was really enjoying it before I got distracted.

I hope this is anywhere near as good as Dragonfall. Dragonfall really blew me away with how good it was.

Very excited. Shadowrun has snuck up from behind to become one of the most promising ongoing RPG series; and that's saying a lot considering the recent competition.

I just kept getting wrecked in Dragonfall with grenades. Seems like everybody and their mother was doing 15+ damage with those things early game, and they just wouldn't stop coming.

I stopped playing, maybe I should try an Adept build or something, see if I can't just run to people then punch their faces in.

Still, very excited for Hong Kong.

My characters in Dragonfall couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Eiger was the only one who could consistently make her shots, and even then she missed more often than I she would given the hit percentages. Wonder if that'll be different in HK.

My body is READY. So, so very ready.

Still waiting on that messenger bag, tho.

You having bad luck? Probably not.

You need to put more points in to guns and quickness. I played a total gunlord in Dragonfall DC and it was impossible for me to miss. Even using a full automatic rifle from across the screen I could totally mow people down. It was hilarious.

Any chance this Shadowrun franchise/series gets developed and released on PS4 and/or Xbox One?

That and use the accuracy buffing spells.

It's a non-zero chance, but it's probably not too likely. Games like this historically aren't very popular on consoles so the hassle might not be worth it. However, I think that the Wasteland 2 and Divinity OS ports act as bellwethers for how much of an audience for CRPGs can be found on consoles.

Already bought it, recently replayed Returns and DF....hyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyype. Mage first as always, but that gif makes me want to throw some points in melee.

That's just the kinda game it is. Using a shotgun pressed against the enemies nose still sometimes ends up missing. They're focusing on adjusting that a bit according to one of the older updates so maybe it'll be less frustrating this time around.

The hit percentages arent lying. This is the same "problem" people had with XCOM. Its just confirmation bias on the part of the player. You remember the times you miss.

XCOM is the first thing that came to mind. People tested that and the % came out pretty fair, but honestly, I do think the high 90% in Shadowrun is iffy. I played through 4 times I think, ànd those shots missed more often than XCOM.

Currently playing through Dragonfall right now which is awesome. I do hope they up the production values just a bit though with this one, especially regarding UI, animations, and sound design.

If you want to play Returns, do it before Dragonfall because its such a leap going back will just be unsatisfying.

And Stasis I believe is August as well.

Neon-laden club, a rat infested dock, and a corner slum... Those shots are wiz.

Time to prepare ammo and practice shooting straight, and cut enough deals without dragons.

I wonder if they'll make a statement about the potential of a DC for this. I loved SR and Dragonfall DC, but as cool as this looks, I don't really want to play it right away and hear later that they're going to make a Director's Cut.

I've backed this with $100 and I can't wait. I loved Dragonfall and I was pleased with Returns (after backing it as well), so this is definitely something I will savor once I get my keys.

I had no idea about that or Satellite Reign. Is there a way to keep track of upcoming PC releases? Steam's upcoming section is hit and miss (for example, still no Stasis page) and I find sites generally only list 'big' upcoming games in their new section.

I'm so excited for this - I've backed every SR game and haven't really been disappointed in any of them, although Dragonfall was just flat out way better than SR.

I just want this to sell well so we get a 4th one!

I believe their other game, Necropolis, is either later this year or early next as well and it looks pretty stylish.

It's impossible to say for certain, but Dragonfall really needed a "relaunch" so to speak for its quality and significance not to get lost as "just" Shadowrun Returns DLC.

Seriously, I made the OT for the original (expansion) release and the level of interest/discussion was terrible given the quality of the game -- and I don't think this was restricted to just GAF. Launching it standalone was absolutely necessary, and I'm happy it brought the game some much-needed recognition.

Anyway, my point is that Hong Kong is launching as a standalone title right away, and is also at least as "feature complete" as Dragonfall DC was. Furthermore, they already have some work lined up with the high-level followup mini-campaign. So I don't think a DC-level overhaul is all that likely.

I think Microsoft still technically has the rights to Shadowrun for consoles or something like that, so Harebrained would have to negotiate with them again to be able to do it. And even then it'd probably only be Xbox One.

Functionally the first two campaigns could certainly work, though.
