"Shadowrun will be the greatest awesome I'M COVERED IN...500 - Internal Server Error"

Yeah, with the PC-360 cross platform play, shouldn't you be able to get into a 360 game with the PC version somehow? Can you join a party with a 360 user and have them get you into a game?

I recently was given a Vista PC and this game came with it so I fired it up, did all the updates and it ran great. Signed into my Xbox Live account, got a wired 360 controller connected to it and jumped in with a bunch of 360 gamers with no problems.

On average during the middle of the day there are about 25-30 games going on at once.

1 cent? That's 5 dollars more than the game is worth. Nice try, GoGamer.

People should buy this and experience greatness. There's no excuse now. The game just plays so damn good.

With the sort of PC games you cheerlead for, it seems awfully duplicitous to slam this one, considering its one of the best and most unique multiplayer shooters out there.

No nobody fucking plays this shit

Wow. If ignorance needed a new definition, you would have a prime contender right here.

There's still an active community, and this is one of the most exquisitely balanced team-based FPS games out there. Period. It's only too bad Microsoft forced the vista-only thing.

It's not Vista only anymore. Works great in Windows 7.

Well, yeah, but the percentage of VISTA+W7 machines is miniscule compared to XP installed. It was a stupid marketing decision that is still limiting the market for the game, two years later.

Shadowrun is still my most played Xbox game to this date, anyon who says no one plays this anymore is an idiot. I still see thousands of people playing it.

Why would he buy a game that gimps the ideal control solution for FPS'?

I love it when Vic Ireland posts in a thread. It's like a celebrity cameo for us mid to late 90's nerds.

So there's still an active community for this on 360? I'd love to play this game, Genesis Shadowrun was awesome and I love anything cyberpunk in general.

Yes there is. Granted, this Shadowrun is very different from the Genesis stuff. It's a multiplayer only shooter. But personally, I love it. Like I said earlier in the thread, I still think it's one of the best shooters on Live.

I bought the game for $15, played the tutorials, a few bot matches and a few lan matches. I really enjoyed it, but I never ventured into the online matchmaking - too intimidating. Plus it would have been better had there been splitscreen guests allowed a la Halo.

I'd love to play with some fellow GAF noobs (as soon as I get my XBL back up and running).

Isn't there an unofficial patch/crack that adds XP compatibility? I don't know if it lets you play online though.

If you guys want to get games going again I'd love to take part in them. None of my XBL friends want to play this game anymore, or they refuse to buy it for the ultra cheap price its at from Gamestop/EB.

One of the best shooters this generation. -if you like team based fps, that is-

MS should think about putting this on games on demand or release it as an XBLA game.
OMG that would be amazing. Unfortunately, if they offered it for download at all, it'd probably make it on demand, for $30.

Man, Microsoft really did send these guys out to die, didn't they? I sometimes wonder if there was a resurgence in the Shadowrun/Halo 2 playerbase when they made Live free on PC.

Yeah had Microsoft given Shadowrun more support it seriously would have taken off. Do some extensive stat tracking stuff, a proper advertising campaign, a proper price point, DLC (6 maps were already finished geometrically), it seriously would have taken off. Like I said, the MLG picked up on it because it's a really deep, competitive and team-based shooter. Had Microsoft tried, Shadowrun would have taken off.

They really should have never set it in the Shadowrun universe. It would have been better being attached to a completely new IP. The thing that damned this game was that people had been waiting for years for a Shadowrun RPG and then for them to make a MP shooter it pissed almost every one who actually knew what Shadowrun was.

Sweet. I'll have to pop it in. I loved this game but I could never get any really good games going. I'm guessing the people still playing are pretty good so it will be nice to have some good games for once.

That didn't damn the game. Shadowrun players are in a huge minority.

Idiotic reviews that slammed one of the best FPS' on the system and a high price tag are what did Shadowrun in.

Microsoft should have hired a team to put in a rudimentary single player experience when FASA started having difficulties with the online. That would have appeased the IGN asshats.

Great game.

If anyone has a copy for sale, PM me.

Go ahead and play online. I found it to be a friendly crowd. Even though I was sucking badly when I played and surely dragging down the team, the people I was playing with offered pointers instead of insults.

And with Newegg offering the 360 version for $9.99 with free shipping, that's not a value proposition. :)

Trust me man... you do not want splitscreen in this. Matches can get very crazy and hectic and you really don't want half the screen covered up when it does.

I'd hope most are capable of judging a game for what it is, rather than what it isn't. It's a very very good shooter. If people overlooked it because they didn't like the use of the license, they're fools. The game is a niche title, but for those it was aimed at, it's a great game. I should admit that the license certainly isn't necessary for the game, but that's a stupid reason to hate it.

And pricing of games is not decided by (Singleplayer) + (Multiplayer) + (Maps * Game modes) + (# of Weapons) / (Proximity mines + Sentry guns) = PRICE!

The game was good it's worth the price to me. I hope there's no one out there who was like "Man this demo is really fun, but only X maps? That's not worth full price!"

I think Shadowrun had three things working against it out of the developers control. First, as you said they should have made it XP, the 360 version should NOT have been full price and really should have been $40, and it wasn't downloadable on the 360.

It really is a great game (and yes to the lol on watching someone climb a ladder) but after firing it up on this new PC, it's still just as fun when I played it a couple of years ago on my 360.

If there is no sequel to this game, or rerelease on XBLA for $10 to breathe in life...then I demand a sequel to Jedi Academy!

So how is the PC Community? Or the online community in general, i remember loving the demo but never actually buying it. And will it work on 7?

This is a fun multiplayer game that didn't get the respect it deserved due to it, "Not being Halo".

Hell, it's not the best game in the world but it introduced so many smart and cool ideas to team based multi.

There are no PC servers. Even back when it launched, I only remember seeing one.

You play on Live, so it's mostly 360 users. No difference though, except it uses matchmaking instead of a server browser.

The 360 community is still pretty active, I was playing a couple of matches last night and the games still pretty fun, just watch out for all the disgruntled ex MLG players that lurk around in public matches and bitch at whine at each other.

Wow I thought this game was totaly dried up, I keep thinking about buying it for cheap to add to my GFWL collection, if there are still people playing then I may as well buy it before it's totally dead.

From the old 360 demo I had fun but using keyboard and mouse seems better to me, for this kind of shooter.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was saying.

There is no PC or 360 community. They all get mashed together on Live. The only way to know if you're playing someone on PC is if you look in recent players and the icon is different I think.

And it makes it obscenely easy to get "mine is the superior platform" achievement on the PC. If you're on the 360, that one takes FOREVER due to the lack of PC players - I think it was more than a YEAR before it showed up for me, and I was playing it a lot.

I played a shit-ton of Shadowrun, and still do play on occasion but still don't have that achievement. More people on GAF get the PC version and start playing!:lol

I can verify it works perfectly on Windows 7

Yup, this is why I'm playing it on PC so much lately. I want this achievement. I had to call my buddy who hasn't played in about 2 years to have him be in a party with me so I could get the BFF achievement.

Rise! Shadowrun crew of NeoGAF unite! Who wants to play some Shadowrun this weekend? All the better if you have the Vista version because I still need my "Mine Is The Superior Platform" achievement:lol My GamerTag is RyoGCH to those of you who want to play.
