Brimstone said:Thats nice for a mod to say, real intellectual.
A mod posts a thread about a Sony Television being on sale and thats ok.
I post a thread about a new display technology that will allow for multi-resolution displays and that gets moved into the off topic.
If people hate my threads about Shadowrun why read them? I know because a lot of people enjoy the sharing of information and the open debate of differing ideas. Cleary I'm in a small minority in my enthusiasim for the game, but does that make my views anyless worthwhile?
More people are Christians and Muslims. Does that make Christians and their ethos correct for the rest of the world?

Oh snap! Attempt at deflection by derailment!Brimstone said:More people are Christians than Muslims. Does that make Christians and their ethos correct for the rest of the world?
Still, both games (Halo 3 & Shadowrun) appear first rate based on early reviews and they provide a level of play the other consoles, and most PCs, cant deliver right now.

That's exactly what I thought.sonycowboy said:Good god. This shadowrun obsession is bordering on the pathetic.
So, now the trick is to associate Shadowrun with the most anticipated game of this generation, I guess hoping it will allow it to osmose some of the hype?
Brimstone said:I'm not saying posting about a sale price on a Sony tv is bad. Trying to be fair and balanced is what should be is strived for. Every person alive has personel bias and nothing will ever change that. Luckily humans have large brains so we can at least try to be neutral towards ideas even if we dislike them.

it's weird how you list games like CS, which actually does require teamwork and Shadowrun, which some tout as being too complex as run of the mill and generic!Kobold said:Man...Halo 3 multiplayer and Shadowrun are still run of the mill generic multiplayer shooter types, from what we've seen, attached to a popular game franchise.
I don't get why people play these, but then again I never understood Counter-Strike either. I understand unique concepts like Splinter Cell multiplayer and Chrome Hounds. Those interest me. Those require actual physical tactics and teamwork with a unique blend of gameplay.
Running round a map blasting each other, just to be respawned, doesn't do it for me. In my eyes, these games' multiplayermodus are overrated by definition. We'll see how good they do and help the platform though, which might be interesting in itself, despite probable lackbuster multiplayer gameplay innovation (tweaks, more like it, it seems).

GhaleonEB said:I made three threads about Shadowrun. One soliciting questions for the FASA Community Day I got invited to, one answering the questions, and another when the beta was announced. I thought, since I was one of the few GAFers to have the chance to play it, I was in a position to write about it. That third thread got me accused of being a viral by a half-dozen GAFers and two mods (and causes me physical pain when it's bumped).
The simple fact is, Shadowrun is so toxic that anyone who supports it is instantly tarnished with it. I figured that out after three threads, which I made under the naive assumption that since I'd played it I wouldn't get treated so. I've cooled on the game a bit now that more is known about it, and don't plan to purchase it, but I still think it's unfairly shat upon just because it's become a meme.
But I smartened up, as Bish would say. Brim, ya should have at around thread number seven or so.![]()
That analogy is awesome. Going to have to steal it some time. :lolWhite Man said:I know you were apparently unfairly maligned, but really, you are but an Easter Peep compared to the Stay Puft of Shadowrun threads.

I think you just used poor judgment. I spotted the trend in the three Shadowrun threads I started and decided I'd had enough. I personally think the gameplay is excellent from my time with it, and the hands-on press has also been largely positive. There will be a demo, and everyone will have their say then. Until then, I decided there was no point in my talking about it. Demos are pretty powerful - the game will do the talking. If people like it, things will change to some degree if not, they won't. Not much more to say at this point, there's nothing that will sway anyone from their chosen position short of playing it.Brimstone said:5 years on GAF with a countless amount of posts about science fiction novels, Starcraft, movies, Tom Clancy games, NCAA Football, health supplements, music and so on.
