But there have only been tiny evolutions in the multiplayer shooter front, as opposed to the new forms of real strategy and customization in Chrome Hounds,

Well, I guess I just don't see how you could find the uniqueness in ChromeHounds but not Shadowrun. CH is at it's core a really slow shooter where you blast each other dead. That's it. Sure, you can pick your parts, but how is that any more than just an "expansion of options" when fundamentally you're doing the exact same thing you might be doing in any given shooter?

Actually this will be his last Shadowrun thread, lol.

Thats nice for a mod to say, real intellectual.

A mod posts a thread about a Sony Television being on sale and thats ok.

I post a thread about a new display technology that will allow for multi-resolution displays and that gets moved into the off topic.

If people hate my threads about Shadowrun why read them? I know because a lot of people enjoy the sharing of information and the open debate of differing ideas. Cleary I'm in a small minority in my enthusiasim for the game, but does that make my views anyless worthwhile?

More people are Christians than Muslims. Does that make Christians and their ethos correct for the rest of the world?

Worst analogy ever? I think so.

You are a viral marketer, good sir; for both SV and Miami Vice, apparently. :lol

Well, you can contain your enthusiasm to one of the 40 threads you created about the game.

I really just wanted to deny him the pleasure of making the official Shadowrun thread. And the like 10 additional Shadowrun threads he would make before then.

If by "enjoy the sharing of information" you mean pointing and laughing at you.

And your enthusiasim is far beyond that of paid shill regardless of you being paid or not.

Oh snap! Attempt at deflection by derailment!

Still, both games (Halo 3 & Shadowrun) appear first rate based on early reviews and they provide a level of play the other consoles, and most PCs, can’t deliver right now.

What does that even mean?

I'm not saying posting about a sale price on a Sony tv is bad. Trying to be fair and balanced is what should be is strived for. Every person alive has personel bias and nothing will ever change that. Luckily humans have large brains so we can at least try to be neutral towards ideas even if we dislike them.

Anyway now a well respected analyst that questions Sonys position is now demeaned by a thread title change. How many steps is this away from Kristallnacht?

Good god. This shadowrun obsession is bordering on the pathetic.

So, now the trick is to associate Shadowrun with the most anticipated game of this generation, I guess hoping it will allow it to osmose some of the hype?
That's exactly what I thought.

I lost Thread Posting Rights for making a thread alluding to Phil Harrison saying Sony doesn't need GTA4.

You lost it after posting 1,000,000 threads about a game no one cares about.

Man...Halo 3 multiplayer and Shadowrun are still run of the mill generic multiplayer shooter types, from what we've seen, attached to a popular game franchise.

I don't get why people play these, but then again I never understood Counter-Strike either. I understand unique concepts like Splinter Cell multiplayer and Chrome Hounds. Those interest me. Those require actual physical tactics and teamwork with a unique blend of gameplay.

Running round a map blasting each other, just to be respawned, doesn't do it for me. In my eyes, these games' multiplayermodus are overrated by definition. We'll see how good they do and help the platform though, which might be interesting in itself, despite probable lackbuster multiplayer gameplay innovation (tweaks, more like it, it seems).
it's weird how you list games like CS, which actually does require teamwork and Shadowrun, which some tout as being too complex as run of the mill and generic!

More like Jesus Christ for the reputation of Neogaf. I suffer for the mods sins.

I like shooters, yet I have little to zero interest in Shadowrun... It's all about Halo 3 for what I'm looking forward to console shooter wise... and Resistance now, which is the new bar for console shooters...

Also, Warhawk looks pretty ace (Non-FPS) with it's features and specs (Plus dedicated servers, again)... I don't think Sony is inferior online by any means... Plus they have yet to pull out their big gun with Socom...

Only thing that sucks is finding enough time for them all... (Plus I actually have a decent PC now, so yeah, not enough time)

Let's make up Brimstone thread titles.

Shadowrun-- Not just a game, a way of life
Shadowrun-- Could it save the gaming industry? (answer: yes)
Foreign country accepts Shadowrun as its new God; church built
"Shadowrun to sell more than Pokemon, Gears, and Hanna Montana," says greatest mind of our time
"Shadowrun will be the best greatest awesome I'M COVERED IN SEMEN" - unbiased third-party

No, apparently Rob Enderle is an inconvenient truth. So the thread title changed to mock his status.

I made three threads about Shadowrun. One soliciting questions for the FASA Community Day I got invited to, one answering the questions, and another when the beta was announced. I thought, since I was one of the few GAFers to have the chance to play it, I was in a position to write about it. That third thread got me accused of being a viral by a half-dozen GAFers and two mods (and causes me physical pain when it's bumped).

The simple fact is, Shadowrun is so toxic that anyone who supports it is instantly tarnished with it. I figured that out after three threads, which I made under the naive assumption that since I'd played it I wouldn't get treated so. I've cooled on the game a bit now that more is known about it, and don't plan to purchase it, but I still think it's unfairly shat upon just because it's become a meme.

But I smartened up, as Bish would say. Brim, ya should have at around thread number seven or so. :p

I know you were apparently unfairly maligned, but really, you are but an Easter Peep compared to the Stay Puft of Shadowrun threads.

That analogy is awesome. Going to have to steal it some time. :lol

just going by the thread title: what we've seen of Halo 3 is only the Alpha build, the Beta build will elevate HALO 3 well above Shadowrun

thank you god, i don't think i can take any more of his threads. i'm not gonna mince words, they're almost all rolling jokes.

halo 3 will 'kill' resistance in its first day, and the people citing 40 players as something special really need to take a step back, more doesn't mean better, pdz had 32 players so I guess pdz kills halo 3 by 2?

5 years on GAF with a countless amount of posts about science fiction novels, Starcraft, movies, Tom Clancy games, NCAA Football, health supplements, music and so on. Yet, expressing my opinion that Shadowrun is one of the most innovative online FPS's ever concieved causes a cabal to demonize me.

People seem to fear lighting striking twice for Microsoft game studios. The Halo franchise the first big lightening strike, now the possibility of a mighter thunderbolt than Thor could generate courtesey of Shadowrun. Rolling Thunder indeed.

I fear for lightning striking twice for Microsoft just as much as I fear if Shadowrun and Miami Vice cross paths in a spin-off game.

If a Miami Vice game took the Shadowrun development path, the game would end up taking place in sub-Saharan Africa, and it would be a chess simulator.

If Crockett summons a tree, I will personally shit my pants.

This thread's insanity aside, I am LOVING Shadowrun right now and thankfully for me it has one of the easiest, best tutorials I have ever played. I was scared of the layers of ability at first

I think you just used poor judgment. I spotted the trend in the three Shadowrun threads I started and decided I'd had enough. I personally think the gameplay is excellent from my time with it, and the hands-on press has also been largely positive. There will be a demo, and everyone will have their say then. Until then, I decided there was no point in my talking about it. Demos are pretty powerful - the game will do the talking. If people like it, things will change to some degree if not, they won't. Not much more to say at this point, there's nothing that will sway anyone from their chosen position short of playing it.

But beyond that, the sheer volume is what turned each thread into an unintentional joke. I'm one of the biggest Halo and Bungie fans around here. I spend a good hour of each day (a bit over lunch and a bit in the evening) reading nothing but Halo and Bungie news. I see stuff every day that I could start threads about, but I limit myself to the big stuff - weekly updates, interviews with new information, etc. Some of it is silly, some of it is speculative or unneccesarily combative and childish (Halo 3 to kill Killzone 2, etc.). But I don't start threads about 99% of it.

I really do sympathize with being labeled as you have just for being a fan of something (something I hope you've played by now), as I have been on the recieving end. But you have brought much of this on yourself. Which is not to say I think it's fair, either. Just sayin' you should have seen the writing on the wall with respect to this game and GAF. Or the Internet in general.

That would actually make a great XBLA game.
