Too many action games rely on the same verbs. In other words, all you do is run, shoot, throw a grenade, and maybe drive a vehicle. In comparison, you'll almost need a small dictionary to describe all the actions in Shadowrun due to the sheer variety of actions that are possible in the game Gamespot.com
The beta came to a close today. And its too bad. Despite only having two maps to play, it never got old. Many of us in the office are already looking forward to June so we can team up and start to enjoy the competition on Live Anywhere (the first opportunity to fight our PC brethren)...The above Gamespot quote fails to point out that all these new actions in Shadowrun serve to strengthen a fundamentally sound, fast-paced first-person shooter experience. Lying somewhere between games like Halo and Rainbow 6, Shadowrun rewards tactics and positioning (this is clear from the buy menu) while enabling fast-action crazy-clutch kills through the game's speed and the abilities given to players by magic and tech equipment. I had a great time predicting the advance of an enemy in the adjoining wall and then teleporting behind them to weaken them only to disappear as they were turning around. Team shooting, positioning, and all the basic elements that we see in great competitive titles exist in Shadowrun.
First-person shooter fans who give this game a chance will become enthralled...Once players start to figure out the game and teams begin to form, we are going to see a level of team play at which to marvel.
